It’s May, and that means the full release of Assetto Corsa Competizione is just around the corner. Ahead of its May 29 launch, developer Kunos Simulazioni has shared images of the laser-scanned version of Brands Hatch.
Players of the original Assetto will be plenty familiar with Brands Hatch. The British circuit is a common sight in the genre, after all. It will be a different experience in Competizione however, as it comes with variable weather and time of day. Combine those with the extra eye-candy from the move to Unreal Engine 4, and this version of the 2.43-mile circuit looks like a serious step up from what’s come before.
Brands Hatch, as well as Silverstone, Spa-Francorchamps, and Catalunya, will join the existing Competizione track lineup when the game exits Steam Early Access at the end of May. As the official game of the Blancpain GT Series, Competizione will feature all of the cars, drivers, and tracks of the season. At launch that will mean the 2018 lineup, but a free update this summer will introduce this year’s roster.
Stay tuned: with the full launch on the horizon, we’ll be taking another spin in the title for a thorough review soon. We already had a go back when Early Access started and were impressed with the physics and tight focus. It will be interesting to see how Kunos’ take on the tricky business of esport ranking systems competes with the rest of the genre — and how it evolves it after launch.
