Ford GT LM Arrives in Forza Motorsport 6 For Free, Just In Time For Le Mans

The first Tuesday of each month is traditionally ‘New Car Pack’ day for Forza fans. With the Season Pass complete, and E3 just around the corner, players are unsure of whether a new car pack will be arriving soon or not. Ford UK has let slip that, regardless of a car pack’s arrival, all Forza Motorsport 6 players will be receiving a free treat today, in the form of the Ford GT LM.

The track-ready counterpart to FM6’s cover star, the 2016 #66 Chip Ganassi Racing Ford GT LM has consistently been one of the most-requested cars by the community. To make the wait even harder, the car was initially unveiled with Forza sponsorship, all but confirming its (eventual) inclusion. Much like the Chryslus Rocket 69, the GT LM will be unlocked via unique code, sent to all FM6 players starting today.

Turn 10 have also taken the time to announce a new ‘Forza Racing Championship’. While details are scarce currently – all we have is what you see in the above video – it looks as though the new championship will function similarly to the existing Leagues in-game, with a focus on the big race in France. The video also mentions prizes, available to players ‘at all levels’.

The #66 car currently sits 9th in the GTLM category of this year’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, while its sister-car #67 occupies third, after scoring the GT LM’s first victory at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca just over a month ago.

Both cars will be joined by two more at the 84th running of the Le Mans 24 Hours, contesting the LMGTE Pro class. The dozen drivers on team Ford include Marino Franchitti (2014 12 Hours of Sebring winner); Andy Priaulx (3-time WTCC champ); Harry Tincknell (of NISMO GT-R LM fame); Scott Dixon (4-time IndyCar champ); Sébastien Bourdais (3-time Champ Car winner, multiple Le Mans podiums); and more. The action in France gets underway next week, June 15 through 19.

GTPlanet will have a video of the GT LM in-game when it becomes available.

What, it’s not a new ‘Vision’ car? No scapes? Rubbish…

Seriously though, well done. Never tried the game, but the car roaster is a dream.

Having owned both Forza games and the Gran Turismo series , I can say that any comparisons between the two are pointless. Forza has left the Gran Turismo games in their wakes. They are superior in graphics , game playing quality and realism. This is not easy for me to say because I was loyal to GT for a long time until my eyes were opened to Forza ( and for that matter Project Cars ), and the way that GT makers basically dropped the ball on the racing franchise. Allready I can see that GT Sport is lacking a lot of content matter that Forza 6 has as basic content. And forget about DLC! Cmon Gran Turismo! Give the other motor racing franchises a run for their money.

    1. Rubencho

I also owned both series in the previous generation before jumping to Pc; adding to your comment it can be said that sounds are better on Forza and besides I hated their DLC prices, I’ve always found the Forza car rooster better than GTs

  3. Scuderia Paul

Damn you Forza players! Another cool racing car lands for you to enjoy. I would love to try that car in PCars.

  4. nick98

Honestly I thought it would’ve been included in the June DLC. But hey, it’s nice to have a free DLC car for everyone! Looking forward to it. :)

    1. azeeza

Of course, the Ford LM is well modelled for you ? It s like a texture like nascar cars
Look at the headlight, or the overall, it s not like the standard of the other cars
      Lazy work

    2. ImaRobot

Well when all you have access to is horribly compressed videos and screenshots, than yeah, that’s all you see.

Meanwhile, those actually with the game will know this not to be the case.

    3. azeeza

      Official screenshot
And compressed or not, doesnt matter, it s not like is a sub resolution
Look at the P1 from previous reveal, it looked better than this

    4. ImaRobot

Actually, compressed makes a big difference. It being official doesn’t mean that the compression is gone from the sites used. Compression can make all the difference in the world. If you want to judge it, I’m sure you can wait for all the photos from the many photomode users around, since all your using to judge these things are videos and screenshots, not what’s actually in game.

The P1 from the previous reveal was an uncompressed photo from a user on this board.

    5. azeeza

A reveal cant be made by a user.. I talk about the official, and it s far better than this Ford LM reveal
Like i said, uncompressed or not, the modelling wont be improved by magic, and i m not talking about lighting yet
But let s see the release for judging

    6. Michael Leary

“Let’s see the release before judging.”

I think you’re well past attempting to take the high ground now as you’ve already judged.

    7. ImaRobot

Lets see the release for judging? Oh you make me laugh! You’ve already passed your judgement on it.

I never said that compression is going to change modeling, but it’ll definitely make ANY image look like crap, as well as the things portrayed in that image.

As for the reveal of the P1, are you talking about the P1 GTR in the article on this forum? Because that was a user image.

    8. azeeza

Well for me, i wont change my critic cause im a expert on imagery :good:
No i talk the one on FM5 debut

    9. ImaRobot

If you where an expert on “imagery”.. whatever that means.. than you’d realize just how much compression alters the view on the subject matter. I’d be hard pressed to believe you.

As for the P1, you must be talking about Pre release shots of a game. Pre-release shots on anything always look better. However, you just keep saying it with out posting anything otherwise.

    10. azeeza

Which means, i dont have to wait the uncompressed version to confirm it
Yes this version, but what i want to say you, the quality of the source dont really differ that much
Look the rocket 69, this car is well made, and it s a compressed video too

    11. ImaRobot

Oh so in other words, you’re just pulling things out of your behind it seems. It all makes sense now.

Another thing you don’t take into consideration is that a livery can make all the difference. Throw a basic paint colored livery, this exact one if you will, over the Chryslis than you’d be talking a different tune.

Either way, people who judge graphical and physical qualities of a game through horribly compressed outlets don’t hold much weight on any subject.

If you think the Ford GT is modeled better than it makes zero sense that you’d think this is modeled differently.

  5. girabyt3

Real Racing 3 got it first! xD. Ok, seriously, I knew this was going to be here and now it’s here!! :D

  6. MustangCobra95

Leave it to a phony simulator to spew bs throughout the whole video. Forza is the home for racing this generation? It never was and never will be. Forza Racing Championship? LOL! I saw one of these “tournaments” on the Forza Motorsport twitch and it was one of the dirtiest races I’ve ever watched. Total joke honestly.

    1. BrunetPaquet

I… agree in a way here. Corner cutting players online doesn’t make a home for racing.

I was winning and suddenly the other player got mad at me and he started corner cutting. Single player however I like a lot.

    2. BrunetPaquet

(Wish I could edit my message…)

Literally all high league events I’ve been in I’ve ended up last because they all cut corners during the whole race.

I know some people will not believe me but see if I care.

    3. MustangCobra95

Nice implications Northstar, considering I have played GT6 and wasn’t completely satisfied with it. The only real difference was the physics but that was it. This FRC is just T10 trying to stay relevant because Gran Turismo is going to blow them out of the water yet again.

    4. ImaRobot

The implication that Forza is not a simulator, with the praise of GT would only lead me to believe that you don’t know anything about what these games are simulating in the first place lol. You should look up the many facts that Scaff has gone through regarding the two games.

Bias is so funny sometimes. How can some people have so much unnecessary hate for two games that are almost completely identical in nature. If one is hardly a sim, than so is the other.

    5. ImaRobot

And since when is it bad for games to take in what the competition is doing? GT is doing exactly that with almost everything about it’s new game.

    6. BrunetPaquet

I like pretty much any racing simulators. I know you weren’t talking to me, I’m just throwin’ that in here.

    7. TeamCZRRacing

You forget, Robot. This is GTPlanet. You aren’t allowed to comment about what you like, only about what you hate. Same as the rest of the Internet these days.

    8. Imari

      @MustangCobra95

      The irony. OH, THE IRONY.

I take it you watched the spotlessly clean racing at Copper Box then? The fact that for three years the choice for sim racing this generation has been Forza or pCARS?

Nothing they said in that video is untrue. Once Polyphony get a game out you can start throwing stones, but as of right now T10 is absolutely right that they’re the king of the hill.

  7. breyzipp

11 million players in the video is a flat out lie! What they probably mean is that all Forza titles combined they have over 11 million copies sold, but many players own multiple games. Forza sales have been on the decline since they moved to XBox One. Forza 5 sold less than Forza 4 did and Forza 6 sold less than Forza 5 did, they barely went over the 1 million mark this time.

    1. Obelisk

They aren’t lying. They’re using the total units sold as a selling point to the game – “Hey, we sold 11 million copies in this franchise! It sure is popular, so why don’t ya join?”

Meanwhile, GT has sold 76.49 million units worldwide. Just to compare to Forza’s claim.

    2. Lambob

the one and only reason why Forza 6 didn’t sell at least 3~4x fold, is the same reason I didn’t buy into it, because of licensing of the controller hardware. Those of us with expensive gaming hardware, ie, Thrustmaster T500RS, work on PC and on PS3/4 , but not on Xbox.

      It’s Microsoft’s loss.

no matter, they have more money than the world knows what to do with.

    3. Swinkel

Perhaps a reason that Forza sells less is that the balance between PS and XB consoles sold shifted more towards PS with current generation.

@Lambob With regard to the gaming hardware, the same applies for Thrustmaster TX. It works with Xbox and PC, but not with PS4. It is not just microsoft’s loss. The same thing happens on both sides. And besides, this is only relevant if someone switches between Xbox/PS.
