Visual Styles / Themes / .Rar Transformers...

Alright, I found some skins on DeviantArt.com, but they're not the .wba format that WindowsBlinds uses. It's meant for Visual Styles... What's that? is it like WindowsBlinds? Any ways, my friend said to get the WinRar thing and to un pack the files and it'll be formatted. Right? Wrong... So what do I do?

First off, uninstall Windowblinds.

I'm assuming you're using Windows XP...

1. Download the NeoWin uxtheme.dll patcher here. Follow the instructions on that page. Be sure to wait a minute or so to cancel every little warning pop up Windows gives you.
2. After you've run the uxtheme.dll patcher and restarted your system, head on over to www.deviantart.com and look in their Visual Styles section. You'll find a lot of good one in there. You'll find a lot of bad ones too, so watch out.
3. Once you have found and downloaded a VS you like, extract the .theme file into C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes
4. To change to your newly installed VS, right click on the desktop and go to properties>Appearance and choose your new VS from the drop down menu
5. Enjoy!

This way, you can still skin Windows without some 3rd party program running in the background taking up resources. If you still have questions, just ask.

And can you run it with the WindowBlinds still?

Well if you install that patch, you won't need Windowblinds since it will be doing the exact same thing. Only difference is that when you download the .rar with the visual style in it, you extract the file to C:\Windows\Resource\Themes manually.
