Allright, time for an update!
Unlike I said earlier, I didn't do
Audi RS6, but yet another
R32 GT-R V-Spec II'94 photoshoot, this time from a race. Gentlemen, Start your engines!
Skyline vs Premium Sportscars
Lucas had always liked racing and GT-R's. When he wasn't at duty in GT-R Patrol, he was cruising around in his old yet reliable
R32 GT-R V-Spec II'94, or taking part into trackdays and car meets. Despite the fact that his car was hopelessly outdated as far as other trackday participants were concerned ( whom he successfully proved to be wrong in racetrack), he kept his car stock except the rims, that were rare NisMo products.
Another weekend off-duty, another weekend at track. Lucas had driven his car on the grid already, on the sixth spot. He was sitting in his car and listened the engine, preparing mentally to the race. There would be two laps around Grand Valley Speedway, his favourite track. He knew every corner and rumblestrip of this track as well as the back of his hand.
Lucas had heard that some rich blokes with nice cars would come around this time, and he was going to see what those office rats could do on track with their powerful, luxurious cars. He followed as the cars drove past him, taking their spots.
First car in the grid was pretty rare British sportscar, TVR Cerbera Speed Six. Next to it got another rare Briton, huge, yet sleek and threatening looking Aston Martin V8 Vantage. On third place was M5, and Lucas felt slightly worried. He had heard pretty creepy stories about this german Übersedans performance on highways. On fourth spot there was M-B SL55 AMG, and he knew already that SL55 wouldn't form a threat to him. But the real shock parked right next to him: AC Cobra SC! "Yikes..! I think that this one might be a handful.." He looked at the ominous looking sleek roadster, admiring it.
Soon bell announced that the countdown had been initiated. The revs started to rise and drop, as the drivers were searching proper area from the powerband for the launch.
GREEN LIGHT!
Lucas had launched from very high revs, trusting on the clever ATTESA-ETS-system. His car darted off the line, where as the more powerful RWD's got much wheelspin. Lucas slipped past heavy SL55, and so did the Cobra. Big, twin-supercharged Aston Martin wasn't too much trouble either as he went inside for the corner, following the Cobra closely. M5 had already taken the lead from the TVR, accelerating towards the exit accompanied with F1-like howl from it's naturally aspirated V10.
Lucas kept the wheels turned tightly, and saw the HICAS-light flashing, and he felt how his cars turn got slightly tighter as the advanced Super HICAS all wheel steering turned the rearwheels bit more, helping the car to stick ot the road while turning even tighter. During the corner, he managed to slip past of the fierce looking Cobra, that had understeered severely. "Hmmm..7l V8 in the front isn't good for corners.." Lucas chuckled as he saw the Cobra's rear wiggle as the rear tyres were trying to keep the traction as the Vantage almost traded paint with the smaller vintage cabriolet. He left them to their little squabble and accelerated after his next victim, Cerbera Speed Six.
"God damn what a bunch of wussies! They should stick to the office and have drivers for themselves.. They don't even try flooring it!" Lucas thought as he quickly gained the more powerful and lighter TVR. He drafted it shortly before swinging himself past. "Sheesh.."
Now, only obstacle between him and victory was that howling supersedan, that was way ahead of him. Lucas floored the throttle and left the TVR biting his dust, concentrating on the german autobahn blitzer.
After few corners, he was in drafting position, but at the exit, Lucas noticed that BMW's 507 bhp were doing their job well, and that close-ratio 7-speed SMG didn't miss a shift either. He was hanging on the tail of the M5, grinning as he saw the driver looking at him via rearview mirror.
"Keep your eyes on road, amateur.." Lucas grinned as he saw the driver still glancing at him every now and then. He hit his brakes and swerved tightly to left, hitting the apex of the corner. The M5 went wide as the driver hadn't been watching ahead, and Lucas guided his more nimble car to the lead! "Ha haa! Take that, Break My Windows!" He shouted gleefully.
Lucas started to increase the gap at every corner. Super HICAS, combined with ATTESA-ETS Pro made his car more nimble than any other AWD, including Lan-Evos and Imprezas of that era. Soon he was flying far ahead of the others, relaxing slightly as he entered the second lap.
But in the middle of second lap, he was startled by a nasty surprize, as the familiar howl of high-revving V10 returned. He glanced at the mirror, just to see the familiar kidney mask of an M5. "Damn! When did he get that close?!"
"His tires must have warmed up by now, that's why he gained me.." Lucas reasoned, flooring the throttle again for the few final corners. "You're good on straights, but corners are mine, bimmerboi! Look and learn!" Lucas growled as the BMW scooted next to him. He turned into corner, followed closely by the big sedan, that suddenly had started to go just as fast as the M-badge promised.
The M5 started it's final assault right in the final corner. It managed to snatch the inside, but Lucas pulled ahead with his lighter car, and got back in front of the M5, thus sealing his victory as he flew past finish line with small, yet satisfying margin.
