The Google Earth Guide to GTPlanet

Speaking of New York City, this is where I used to work... at JWT (advertising agency), right next to Gran Central Station and across the street from the Chrysler Building

I used to have the best bagels at a Hindu place just across the street from there.... cream cheese bagels... mmmm

Where in the world have you not been that you want to see Diego?

ummm... I'd have to say Japan. But just because I have a couple of friends who live there and want to visit them. Seeing the country itself would be an added bonus.

Oh, and Vancouver... I've heard a lot about Vancouver and would like to see it

Fascinating pics, Pupik... very interesting landscapes in your neck of the woods, and a hearty congratulations on getting a new job so quickly too 👍

@ Sakiale, would be very interesting to see a bit of New York City, you could even use the new streel-level photos on Google Maps as well, since much of NYC is covered by that now I believe.. 💡
All right, I'll try to do it this week. However, now I live in Los Angeles. But I can still show you my old house, schools, and if I remember it, my old old house that I was born in.

Welcome to thread revival.

This is the Central Coast. I’ve lived on the Coast for 12 or 13 years, maybe more—I’m not entirely sure. Anyway, this is home for me and I’ve been here just about as long as I can remember.

I’ve lived in this house with my mum for at least 12 years. There’s a tennis court to the right, and my old high school butts up against our back fence. I got an unbelievable amount of crap at school for living right on the fence, but the fact that it took me all of 30 seconds to get from my front door to the school was very convenient.

When we moved in we were the first people living in our street and it was a dirt road. We got in just as the area was beginning to expand due to Westfield (below a bit) being built.

Matt and I have been mates for god knows how long. It’s probably been over a decade now. :scared:

These days he lives out in the middle of whoop-whoop so I don’t go to his house so much, but I do enjoy the road. :D (Note: Matt was bitching because this picture shows his house before they had done their garden and had a swimming pool put in, so it is not representative of the house’s current state of awesomeness. kthnx)

Matt used to live just down the road from me, and we’d spend an unhealthy amount of time together playing GTA.

The local shopping centre tends to suck up a lot of money, and I have spent a lot of time there in the last decade. As I said above, it promoted the growth of this area and the whole area has been significantly effected by this one little building. :ill:

I work as a Pizza Delivery driver at the local Pizza Inn. All I can tell you about this is that if you’re young and thinking about getting a job you should never ever do this sort of work. Just don’t.

It’s actually not that bad, but it’s not worth the pay at all. I’ll quit once I’ve paid my rego and car insurance for the year.

This is my old Primary School.

This is where I go to TAFE. No stories here, either.

This is the Beachie, where a lot of people I know go to get wasted. It’s a hole, and a pain in the ass to get there and home when you’re drinking. But that’s life. Apparently there’s a Pizza shop across the road and my boss thinks I’d be able to get free pizza, so i must try that next time.

I met a guy on GTP a few years ago and we became good friends. He no longer posts here, but I go to his house to watch most rounds of F1. It’s a fair drive, but the last part is reasonably entertaining because of a nice hairpin the drops down really quickly and has Armco around the outside so it’s real heart in your mouth stuff when you push.

I’ve done a lot of travelling in Europe. From Britain to Croatia and most places in-between. But below are the two most significant parts of Europe to me at the moment.

Svitavy, in the Czech Republic, is where my Dad is living at the moment. He owns a hotel by the lake there, Country Hotel Svitavice, so if you’re travelling in Europe come stay a few nights and put some money into the family funds. ;)

Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari is where I saw my first GP last year, and it holds significance for me for that reason. It was really special to go to the place where a legend died and watch the current crop of drivers battle for supremacy on such a historically significant track. It was also special to see Schumacher win before he retired from F1.

That’s about all I’ve got, hope you enjoyed. :)

Whoah, the picture of my house out in the middle of nowhere has my old 1982 Datsun Bluebird sitting out the front!

Piece of crap that was. I upgraded though. 1983 BMW 318i is where it's at, now. I moved up a year.

Excellent tour of Blakedom 👍 Link and gallery image added to Post #2

Glad to see this thread is not completely forgotten about :D

Any more?

Here is my hometown with a few locations marked on it, nothing interesting besides pubs and a chippy

Here is the halls of residence I lived in last year;

The 'office';

One of our vehicles!

And the staff car park;

And here is the house I'm moving into soon, near our favourite club and also near the longest pub in the country, which is a Lloyd's Bar.

I couldn’t actually find it yesterday, but tonight I did, so…

Nice updates, guys 👍 I'll hopefully have a bit of time later to revamp the Gallery in Post #2 aswell...

Here's a close-up of my residence:

Here's a close-up of my neighborhood, notice how meticulously it was designed:

Here's a shot of my area:

Here's a shot using the Golden Gate Bridge as a reference, this is my favorite shot:

Notice the boats in the bay. :)

Here's a (rather bland) shot of my educational facilities (www.expression.edu):

Another thing worthy of note: a very strong eye could see the SFGTP location! ;)

👍 Added to the main post... I still can't get over the fact that I'm going to be somewhere in that 4th picture in just a few weeks :D

It's just a big road, that's how most of the roads here in Michigan are. It was loud when we first moved in but I've since gotten used to it.

Nice one guys, added your links and image to the front page 👍 (You even get your very own new section in the gallery :D )

This is Wales. Birthplace of Catherine Zeta Jones, Tom Jones, Stephen Jones and lots of other Jones'. Also, Lost Prophets, The Automatic, Bullet for My Vallentine, Funeral for a Friend and you may have heard of the Manic Treet Preachers.

Known for our sheep aswell, can't forget those.

Ah a fellow welshman :D

Province of Antwerp

Mol, my hometown situated in the south-east of the province of Antwerp. Close to the border of the province of Limburg, where Dustdriver lives.

Centre of Mol. I live about 3 km outside the centre. Mol is famous for its nuclear powerplant and for storing nuclear waste and for (exploit) white sand.

I'm a West Coast kid. I was born in California, raised in Seattle.

There is Orange, the area I lived for the first five years of my life. You can see how close we were to all of the cool stuff. We could listen to Angels games and watch disneyland fireworks:

And here is a closer shot of my old house. You can see that my Gramdaprents lived jsut a few blocks away. I spent a lot of time there and visited a lot until they left that place in 2001.

Here is the Puget Sound area, and you can see where I lived once I moved there.

And here is the hood. Elementary, middle and high school in increasing distances from home. This also shows the better part of Burien.

Close up of my house:

And now I'm at Hope College in Holland, MI. No point in showing a close up because GE doesn't have a clear picture of the place.

So there's the little guide to my life.

Did you go to the the Champ Cars at Zolder a few weeks ago?
No, I watched F1 on television instead. I recorded Champ cars and watch it afterwards. Some of my friends went to see the Champ Cars at Zolder.

Nice one, guys 👍 I've updated the main post, again.

Good luck with your new surroundings and with college, philly... looks like you're a long way from home!

It's funny, I've only just noticed this thread today, and just half an hour before I noticed it, I'd only just re-downloaded and re-installed google earth since I reformatted my hard drive a couple of weeks back.

Anyhow, here's a bit of info about where I live, where my family lives and where I've been etc.

To start off, here's my home. The line of trees is where the old railway line to Londond used to run. At the top of the street to the west there's a great Chinese take away. I've recently had to spend time chopping up a tree that fell down in our back garden. So there's one tree less in the garden now.

This is where my high school was and is. The school used to be where the car park and entertainment complex are now, instead of behind them. It was knocked down and rebuilt the year after I left. I used to sneak out of school through the ro of trees at the bottom of the school, then across a field (provided there was no classes on there doing and PE) and then I'd get onto a footpath by the river Mersey.

This is the Armitage center. It's a sports complext where I play football, sometimes I just go and play badminton, or table tennis as well.

This is a local tennis court just around the corner from my local pub. They filmed a couple of scenes from an episode of Life on Mars here, they filmed most of that series not far from my house. I used to play Tennis, but I screwed up my left ankle pretty badly. I don't play it now because of the hard surfaces. I only get by playing football because I grin and bear the pain that I get sometimes from my ankle. I tell you what, I sypathise with David Beckhams burrent injury problem, I went over on my ankle 7 weeks ago, it's still not healed from that.

This is the office I'm based at, though my work takes me to Liverpool pretty regualrly as we have offices there. I also spend a lot of time in Manchester, we meet a lot of clients in hotel conference rooms. Additionall there a Jaguar delaerhip opposite, so there's always some nice cars on show.

This is Sunset bay in Torviscas, Tenerife, my parents used to own a timeshare apartment here, they bought it back when timeshares were value for money. In the end the maintenence prces went up so much you could arrange a holidy without the timeshare for the same price and maybe less. It was a nice complex though, we went there about 5 times when I was in school.

This is the area form a bit further out. In the row of restaurantes there was an Aberdeen Steak house that wasn't far along, it was great value for money. We went there so many times that the head waiter kept remembering us every time we went back on holiday there.

This is the tenerife Karting track, I went there a few times. It was quite a good lenth for a karting track, most of them are quite short.

This is Puerto Rico, on Gran Canaria, another of the Canary Islands. I went there a couple of years ago with a group of mates and Charlotte. We had a good time but for 2 weeks you covered everything, so I wouldn't go again. At the Europa center they had a restaurante therecalled the Barbacoa and they had live acts on each night. Some of them were professionals. Probably the best one we saw was a group who were covering The Beatles. They were on for 4 hours and they did really well. One thing I never get, is why do people flock to McDonalds, and other places when there on holiday. It's the last place I'd want to eat. Mind you, it's not far up on the list over here for me eitherway.

My parents live in Manchester, but my mum was born and raised in Mansfield and besides my partents and my dads brother, the rest of my family still live over there. This is where my aunt and uncle live, it's a nice house called Rivendell cottage. They also own the horse paddocks at the back, they let them out to people, they don't own any horses themselves.

and last but by no means least, I present you with the location where my third car, a SEAT Ibiza, died. I had a trip through Europe, I intended to go further but the death of my car cut it short and I came home. That was late 2004, I quit my job, went on a trip through Europe, which lasted 6 weeks before the car suicided itself. I drove through France, I checked out Monaco, I drove through Spain, into Portugal, then back into Spain, stopping off at places along the way. It was a great trip despite the loss.

I might go into more detail of certain times, or stuff I haven't mentioned in this post when it's not the early hours of the morining.

Sorry to hear about your SEAT. :( R.I.P... :sly: I've been to Puerto Rico on Gran Canaria too, but I went when I was about 14 with my parents and I don't remember much about it - infact, I don't have many memories of that holiday at all, except for the time my folks rented a car and we were supposed to take a drive around the island, only for my Dad to reveal that he suffered from vertigo and couldn't drive over the windy mountain roads

The car had a good life, I paid less than a grand for it and had racked the miles up. I would have preferred it to had died after the trip, it would have saved me a plane ticket, but problems are all part of the adventure and the experience imo.

I remember the name of the restarante in Puerto rico at the Europa center now, it was called "The Barbacoa".

As for your dad, not the best idea to rent a car on a holiday on a volcanic island and then reveal you can't drive it on windy mountain roads because of vertigo :ill::lol:.
