Generic F1 Car Setup Guide

Ok this is not geared specifically to F1:CE but the general principles should apply and it is pretty well written and organized. Therefore I felt like it would be a useful link to have available here for us F1 fans at GTP. Obviously just ignore those aspects that F1:CE does not model, ie brake duct cooling intake area, etc.

Keep in mind this ONLY applies to the offline aspects of the game, the online car setups cannot be modified.


In addition, for the neophyte racing geek, the following book is supposed to be quite the wealth of introductory information:

Its not a bad introduction, but the set-up side of thing in Speed Secrets is very basic (the book looks more at general technique), now for the real racing geek you want this...

Thanks for the input. I've added the uber geeky books you mentioned to my amazon wish list. Not certain if I'll ever get around to reading them, but at least I'll not completely forget about them.

I own both Speed Secrets and Going Faster; Great books!! They helped alot with my karting... I'd look at speed secrets for a quick intro to lets say passing, then hit up going faster for a more in depth description... very nice books! I'd recommend them to anybody and yes, they would absolutely help with GT or F1CE!!

I thought this thread had either gotten closed or merged, but here is the thread with the most recent diuscussion on the topic of the F1 license... and you'll find most appear to be quite disappointed that Studio Liverpool won't be making any more follow ups to F1CE, especially now that CM has all but confirmed that the new F1 game will be largely based on the same physcis engine used in GRiD.... but here is a link to the thread in case you are interested or have trouble finding it with the search engine:

I hope you enjoy your stay here at GTP. This is currently the only forum I spend any time on, as I find this site and the members that participate on it offer a wealth of information, and not just about cars and games, but so much more than that, and unlike a lot of forums.

In addition, you will also likely discover that unlike a lot of other public forums, here at GTP the vast majority of members are able to share, discuss and even argue over opinions in a reasonable and civil manor. Very rarely will you see any kind of flame war brake out. Usually, either the members involved take it privately, or the crack staff of moderators step in and cool things off. 👍

The best tip I can offer a new member though is to not get overwhelmed by the number of forums, threads, and posts. Try and use the search engine whenever possible, and at least scan over previous posts in a thread, just in case perhaps the news or topic that you want to share, may have already been brought up earlier.

Other than that, the best thing to do is go an explore... but I will warn you. Like Wikipedia... if you follow to many links/threads, you'll find you will have strayed far off the path you originally intended to take, and what you thought was going to be a quick 10-min virtual walk through a thread... becomes an hours long journey across many different topics.

And you are very welcome to be here DN is one of the most genuine and knowledgeable posters on this forum. And there are many others who are equally contributory as well. As mentioned this is a very quality community and that is why many of us are so dedicated to it. So once again welcome 👍

Another F1:CE track specific setups web site, this time for Renault. Haven't tried them out myself but the guy really made a nice effort and takes the time to explain in some detail his recommendations. Hopefully someone will find it helpful:
