About the "newcomer gallery", mine started in 2007, but before March. Does that mean it's excluded?

Same here. Although i may not be the best, but considering the work i did, maybe i'm up for a nomination? Well yeah, maybe you should add this as well:

Yeah, also concerning the "Best Newcomer" since when was March the beginning of 2007? Mine started January 7th, so does that make mine excluded too?
 
It's a nice idea, but I can't be blinded and don't see some potential problems.

1. Participation. How can we get the most participation possible? MP offers? Moderation help? Just sit down and wait?

2. There are a huge amount of superhipermega amazing photos, so I don't know how people is going to select the best photo in each category. I personally don't have got a good memory, so I'd need a list of proposals to choose the real one of the whole hundreds of photos.

People who started there galleries in January 2007 can now be in the running for the best newcomer gallery.
 
I agree with alex.
People could throw in a personal top 10 of nominees for each item and the final voting would be between those (all or just the 10, 15 most nominated).

Also, like F1GTR said, a few more categories could be implemented, like "best phototravel shot", "most realistic shot", "most original shot" or even "most valuable member" (all of this of course referring only to what has been done in 2007).

And a category for "member who's username best rimes with something ending in 'ood', but has to start with 'bee'" wouldn't be too shabby... :lol:
 
i say do it! how about we add the "Best Collaboration/Joint Update" awards list even though we, or in this case You would have to dig out the old threads for them ? but i still think it's a great idea. these things dont get credited all the time. if at all.

Well to think there hasn't been many joint updates, I think there was yours with TVR&FF, then mine with Tommi2000 and then me, Tommi and NTX. I think...
 
Also TVR&FF with franz and I believe there were others that I can't recall.

I'm still up with TW to do a joint update (it's been taking a very long time but it'll be worth it), as soon as my PC's back up.
It's going to win that category in 2008. :D

Well it sounds good and all, the categories sounds quite interesting as well. So when will the results be announced? after Christmas or after New Year?
 
I'm sure I threw my .02 into the pile last year when this came up, but just some thoughts...

I don't see how these resemble anything other than cliques. People are just going to vote for their buddies. It's just my personal opinion, but if I see a gallery both open and close within the year, I'm going to assume it was a fad. I give huge credit to people who have stuck with it all this time, not those who just bounced over to the next big thing. Don't take offense TVR; I know you've got your X360 games (traitor ;)), but you've still stuck with the GT4 galleries the whole time. I'm just saying I know I won't be nominating closed galleries. It feels like a waste of an "award" if it's going to a dead link.

All that being said, I think the best way to go about doing this thread is to have people send in their personal top 3 or something for each category (as Beerzy suggested). Have a multi-choice poll for each one and see how it goes from there.

I felt the same way as well. My gallery always had little comments. But i don't give up. I just really like to update my gallery once in awhile. Maybe a special certain update would bring more people to comment on.....But anyways, i think your photos are awesome as the rest of them [es]!!! 👍
