Did anyone else notice the custom paint livery option, ala. Forza 2. Also, it seems the game has dynamic weather. I wonder if it has day/night cycles as well.

Few new images form the official press-site, date is still 25th Jan 08. Notice that third rainy picture is Spa Francorchamps - which is sweet :D.

The first link has a good interview with Bruno Senna. He talks a lot about getting the handling right and he's happy with the results--being a race driver and gamer. He also mentions an Xbox 360 version which I haven't heard before and he may have slipped up with that--either mentioning it too early (before the company have announced it) or making a mistake?

i want that game!!!!! but it might not be the same playing it on a console for me. i remember playing the ferrari 355 challenge long time ago in an arcade simulator, complete with the stick shift and clutch and all, and it was such a great game. great dynamics and the realism is just awesome.

Back then it was great! I bought the ps2 version of it and it got boring quick.

like i said, it might be a bit different on a game console even with the racing wheel thingy. but yeah i can see it being boring as well specially with just one brand of automobile in the game. but for me being a ferrari nutter, i'm sure it will be fun.

Just some info and vids about the games development...

Bruno Senna compares his game with GT-HD... he says the Ferrari is not right in Gran Turismo! But then again he would say that because he is paid to!

In this gamespot interview I was worried if he would ever mention GT but then he finally did and said a lot of the cars physics were not well models but there were some that were brilliant.. "I buy all of the NFS series"... hahahaha

Trust some dumb Gamespot interviewer to say its also on 360!

Theres also a long vid taking to the dev's ... it seems the video and sound are not the same but just listen to what they say...

This thing about all the Ferrari's ever offered in updates.. is this going to cost tons?... they should be mostly free updates.. all ferrari's will make the game cost like hundreds of pounds..

Why can there only be two types of Ferrari on the track every time you race... oh they say the high poly count on the cars... cough* GT5 cough*

And most importantly... GT now has Ferrari, who says it wont have just as many and they will most likely look a lot better!

I still don't see the point of this game.. and its taking ages to make!

Robin

If Bruno's saying the Ferrari 599 GTB is difficult to race, perhaps that's a good thing for GT5? Cars like it aren't exactly easy to drive around a course like Daytona or Suzuka.

If I'm right, he was reffering to driving model of 599 in GT:HD demo which received lots of negative criticizm anyways. 599 in GT:HD and in GT5: P are two different universes.

One website on the net took that very same interview and said he was talking about GT5P... so I don't really know which one he was on about! I think its more likely that he was talking about HD though.

Surely a racing driver would like it hard?

Ferrari Challenge coming to PS2 too, no firm release date (again)

news:

FeFerrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Coming To PlayStation®2 This Spring; World Exclusive Preview in Official Playstation 2 Magazine

Friday 25th January/...System 3 has announced that its upcoming racing simulation, Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli, will be heading for the PlayStation®2 this spring. The announcement comes ahead of a special issue of Official PlayStation Magazine, which sees Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli taking pride of place with a special wrap-around cover and Ferrari-branded packaging framing a world-exclusive preview.

Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli is System 3’s labour of love – a re-creation of Ferrari’s own racing series, which sees both professional and amateur drivers taking to the world’s most famous race tracks in 430 Challenge race cars. Developed by racing game specialists Eutechnyx, Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli draws upon the developer’s years of experience with racing titles and includes a uniquely magical touch from GP2 driver Bruno Senna, nephew of F1 legend Ayrton and technical consultant on the game’s handling.

Previously announced for PLAYSTATION®3, Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS, Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli on the PS2 will match the PS3 version in terms of game features. 50 expertly-modelled Ferraris are available, along with the full complement of Ferrari Challenge series tracks, exquisitely balanced handling, remarkably lifelike opponent AI and the most comprehensive custom vinyl editor yet seen in a PlayStation racing title. With online multiplayer for up to 8 racers and System 3’s innovative Card Challenge mini-game also included, Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli’s PS2 incarnation proves itself to be no poor relation to its bigger cousin and is in prime position to become the definitive racing experience for the platform.

In-depth analysis of the game’s features and development process can be found in issue 95 of Future Publishing’s Official Playstation 2 Magazine, which goes on sale on the 30th of January. Spanning six pages, the preview describes Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli as “a total dream come true for any Ferrari fan”, noting that the cars “handled beautifully”. Rounding off with a closing comment that “established PS2 racing games do face a real Ferrari challenge”, the enthusiasm and optimism of the feature is matched by that of System 3 CEO, Mark Cale.

“We want Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli to reach as many gamers as possible and the PS2 version is instrumental in achieving this”, remarks Cale. “Despite technical limitations, the team at Eutechnyx are doing an outstanding job in translating the exceptional features of the PS3 version to its predecessor, maintaining an excellent standard of visuals and keeping that incredible handling intact. We’re confident that Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli will set the standard by which other PlayStation 2 racing titles will be judged”.

Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli will be released for all formats in Spring 2008.

Gran Turismo 4 beater? Now, that should be something:D But 8 players online could make me dust-off my PS2 if PS3 game will be late.

And this pushing-back the release date is now really anoying. At least, this game has something similar to Gran Turismo series..

I dont think there will be much tuning in this game. Thats the best part of Gran Turismo. Great info by the way, it's added to first post.

Considering the article was published Sept 2007 then yes he was talking about GT:HD.

Today's info on official press-site:

"Released:18/Apr/2008"

So, this is like final date now. We shall see.

April..... gosh how long does this take! It better have tons of cars to start with! and sort out the "only two types of Ferrari on the track at once" problem!
