best message to send to a vanquished punter

As much as everyone here surely hates punters, you have to admit that it's incredibly gratifying to beat them. One of the best things about it now, is that you can send them a message right after the race. But I can't seem to come up with a good insult to send off. So far I've just been asking if they saw who won the race, but I want something more damaging.

I think it's high time we put our heads together and come up with the most simple and deflating comment possible. Does anyone have a good one?

I'm not sure if insulting others is something to be encouraged. I sure hate punters, but if I send a message, I try to be firm, but polite. I think that in the long run, you're getting further with that.

You're no better than a punter if you truly act this way. Just like the guy who was saying we should just cheat because everyone else does, you are going to find this forum will now disagree with you.
Elitism has never been and never will be a positive word.

I think I only send one or two messages, like.. "Thanks for that bump near the end of the race that made you win" They usually come back with polite answers.. Just be polite, they will be too. If you piss them off, they get pissed off at others and keep doing what they do.

I have only sent one message to a punter, and that was in response to his insult to me.

I have considered sending something like:

"Congratulations! You rammed me off the track and crossed the finish line ahead of me! That makes you the King of Everything! You Rock! You Rule! I want to be YOU! It's just too bad you're not a good enough driver to win without cheating."

But I know it would be a waste of time.

As far as sending a message to a punter that I beat... Beating him says all there is to say.

As much as i feel like giving them a peace of my mind, i find that catching up (which usually doesn't take major effort as they usually are skidding all over the place somewhere further up the track!) with them and leaving them for dead is more satisfying in the long run. even found myself laughing when they try to side swipe you on your road past only to find themselves careering off into the wilderness in my mirror.nice.
just hope if the update includes headset use it doesn't turn into a pure slanging match...."your mother is this" or "your mother does this" type of thing. which i found on call of duty. most annoying. but its got every chance depending on who's there.

Its the internet, people have annonymous identities, of course it will turn into the juvenile rubbish. It always does. Hence why I'm not particularly asking for voice chat, at least not until we get private rooms.

Well I played a lot need for speed: carbon and I loved the voice chat and never got really insulted. unless you consider it insulting if a cheater calls you a cheater after you beat him fair and square... The `worst ` thing I got was : Im up your a$$! (from a guy far behind!) Lost it almost, because I had to laugh so much . :)

Oh and nfs: carbon on PS3 had something what was called FRIEND INVITES... which Id really prefer over something called private rooms :scared:, anyway...

LOL Im sure you could 👍

The game wasnt that bad btw , lots of fast japanese EVO tuners (among others ), i remember them because they are basically the same that blast around Suzuka in their EVOs or Elises now :)

*Edit: which recently changed to Tuned Corvettes

Best message to send a punter? Simple - beat them fair and square. Get in front then pwn the living crap out of them. Don't know how it makes the punter feel but it works for me. :D

I got some tard tonite in a yellow mines. I came from way back but, by the time I caught up to him, dodging the trail of wreckage he'd left behind, he was in second place and you could just tell he had absolutely no business being there. :sly: I followed him round dunlop where he was all over the road trying to block me, right round degner where he was all over the road trying to keep the car on the track as much as block me. I patiently waited for him to stagger round the hairpin, taking a fly swipe at where he obviously thought I'd have been if I hadn't held back. Then I sat, just off his bumper until he completely aborted the entry to spoon and went wide, trying to stay in front. I dropped a gear, floored it round the inside and that's all she wrote.

Wow. You're taking this way too seriously.

First off, don't call me elitist; smack talk is amusing, and if done in moderation simply leads to heated competition, which a lot of people enjoy.

Second, smack-talking does not put me on the same level as a punter, and I hope you retract that...cheating and good-old fashioned razzing have nothing to do with each other.

Third, I don't think you should speak for everyone on the forum.

ANYWAY...I just thought it'd be amusing to see what kind of smack anyone has to offer a beaten punter...i'm not saying anyone SHOULD or SHOULDN'T do this, I just thought it would be funny to come up with something clever, not something childish.

I had a punter in a Ferrari race a while back and every race, must have been about 10 consecutive races, they were banging into me and trying to cheat their way to a win, which they never did. I PM'd them saying "You know, if you put as much into racing clean as you do barging around you may just win a race." Well, about 5 races later they are racing clean and beat me by about 0.100/sec. I PM'd them back and congratulated them, got a Pm back thanking me for the encouragement. Just be nice, it does work on some people :)

ive only sent 2 very abusive messages since the game has been out but this was to people who had been punting not for a few races but been doing I'd to me and others for days. One of these was from Portugal and today he is a very clean driver and also a PSN Friend.

Yeah, ok, I did go too far with that.

Maybe I misunderstood what you were saying, but when I first read your original post, I thought you were saying you went out of your way to verbally (or textually? lol) attack people who punted you. If I misunderstood what you were saying, fine, I'm sorry. But I don't feel that what you're suggesting is a very mature thing to do, you say you're "trying to come up with something funny, not something childish".....yet so called "smack talk" is indeed very childish and reminds me more of bullying tactics than someone making a playful joke.

Perhaps I have no sense of humour or maybe I'm too elitist myself to use "smack talk".

Ardius makes a valid point though. This forum just isn't about what you, Francisco67, are trying to do. I may not speak on the behalf on this forum as much as anyone else, but thinking of the way things work here in terms of Gran Turismo, revenge and smart comments are very low on the list of priorities. Noone can tell you what (not) to do, but I predict that you won't see much of what you asked for in this thread, at least not from a longer time member.

Sweet, wish it would always turn out like that. :) But agreeing with what other people have said, being aggressive back won't get you anywhere fast and this forum won't encourage it...

Good to see that people are making sensible replies in this thread already though. I honestly expected more harsh advice.

not sure I see the point of this. If someone punts me off I either park up or carry on. Surely there isn't much glory in taking revenge, best you can do is promote good driving by example. If the punters are worth there salt they will apologise. In the words of Ronan Keating "you say it best when you say nothing at all". (I'm laughing out loud right now, I never thought I would quote that guy. friends, family i'm sorry!).

i resorted to sending a nasty message once, I just couldn't take it it was insanity. i beat the guy be we finished second to last and last. for 5 laps its was he trys to punt me and we both spin off track, then for whatever god forsaken reason he always seamed to get going ahead of me, then I'd try to pass and it started all over.

i had just watched happy Gilmore so my message was simply "you suck! jack@#$%"

MODS!!!! I demand this fellow is sent to the naughty step for a period not exceeding the term of his natural life :banghead:

Defeat should be deflating enough. Especially after all that punting, shunting and bumping has gone for not.

are we racing to win or raceing to have a good race...i mean if you havnt reached the 2mill mark i dont see why reclus driving is needed.

By beating the punter clean and legal , without retaliation or messaging , and showing yourself as a better driver , that in itself my friend speaks a million words.

Well, I synced a bluetooth keyboard to my PS3 now (btw, any bluetooth keyboard should work, you don't have to have the Logitech one. I wanted a very small one and went with the compact Apple bluetooth model with no numeric keypad etc. It works great.) So now I've taken to sending some punters messages via the PS3. Very polite messages such as:

Subject: Please...

Content: Please try to race more cleanly. You have some skill and may get quite good if you practice driving properly. Thanks and good racing.

I try to include nice lines like "you have some skill" even if I'm lying. Also, I type fast, so typing that isn't a big deal for me, but sometimes I do cut it a bit shorter. But always polite, that is the key. Sometimes I will also explain the specific problem, such as when a driver on Daytona Oval gently pushed me into the wall like 4 times in a single race, causing me to get a penalty each time. (*argh!*)

Several times now I've gotten a "sorry" in response, which is good. So far I haven't gotten anyone sending me anything hateful in return.

This might be a good way for others to go about this also - if you can keep your temper in check and keep it nice. This has, I admit, been occasionally very hard to do!

Typically I'll send something along the lines of, "maybe you should practice ramming some more, maybe then you wont get p2."

I had one guy respond with, "whatever you're still slow"...right, I guess slow was all it took to beat him then.

I did send one guy a really long one (i hooked up my keyboard). I accidentally rammed the back of him going into the chicane on suzuka, I even stopped and waited for him. Then as I was drafting him on the straight he brake checks me...I catch him on the essess and he tries to brake check me again but I was ready for it and dodge. Then coming out of the hairpin he super-obviously tries to side swipe me and ghosts and hits the wall and nearly spins out (god I really wish he had) but I kept on. Then he catches me on the straight to the 130r and this time successfully side swipes me.

I sent him a message basically saying I was 100% on the brakes and absolutely not trying to hit him. He shouldn't assume all contact is intentional and that he was being extremely unsportsmanlike with this ramming attitude. He apologized but with the excuse of, I didn't see you stop for me. Right, so apparently he thought that he could hit the barrier head on, reverse, turn around, get back on the track, go through the chicane and some how manage to be in front of me...who just went straight through the chicane? Use your ****ing head.

One time, this driver (who seemed to be a good driver up until this point) intentionally crashed into the side of me as he was passing me (he had PLENTY of room, trust me). I tried to shake it off and catch up to him, but I was pissed... so after about 30 seconds of trailing him, I just went ahead and sent him a message in the middle of the race...

"It's Gran Turismo, not bumper cars, a#$hole."

I agree with HIM, not you. Being a jerk and a sore winner is just as bad as being a cheater. If someone sent something like that to me, I wouldn't find it amusing, or funny. I would just think you were stuck up. No matter how "clever" it is it will still come across as something like "NA NA! I beat you and you even tried to cheat!"
