PmC - WeeK 162 - Closed

Yes, actually. I've tailored my classes in HS to take Civil and mechanical engineering in University. I hope to eventually take my Masters at least in Civil and Mechanical, and hopefully, once I'm old and gray, take a Ph. D in Civil.

I'll probably still be fiddling with PS to clean up GT4 shots!

Actually, I spent some time with Bram's guide, and went wild for a bit. came up with something decent. gonna have to revive my gallery (if it's even still around!) and throw it up. came out good enough for a first "real" attempt at clean up. (that stuff with the CTR2 was almost embarrassing).

it helps with these things to be artistically minded. Luckily I am :P. I'm a bit of a sketcher (reference material. I'm nowhere near a level where i can do it from my head yet).

EDIT: check the galleries board. :D
That's awesome to hear man! I'm glad you are taking that path and that you are interested in it. Civil engineering was a big interest of mine also. I only took mechanical engineering because the civil course was full. But man I ended up loving mechanical drafting. Too bad that great entry didnt work out. Nice job onthe new one though!

R92CP, according to the text under the picture :dunce:
 Yeah, it's an R92CP.
I think PJ-FFL was referring to the fact that in the poll it will either come down to the pesacrolo or R92CP, at least that's what it sounded like to me.

jg, that is perhaps the first entry from you I haven't really liked. I'm just not seeing the realism factor, and it doesn't seem to be up to your level (that I've seen anyway)

i can always change it. what is it that you don't like about it anyways ? i mean, it's a pmc shot. what's there to like ? jk.

I dunno, it seems like it was a noobie type shot. car is pretty much dead centre, the car's own paint scheme makes it look really weird and almost cartoony to me... I doesn't seem real. the camera seems like it should be either lower, or further away+higher. david's shot is a good example. it's ground level (like a photographer or stationary camera) and off to the side of the track. Swiss' is higher, but seems further back. there is better angle work too. the blurs and track settings in their shots help too. Yours looks like it's just out of the second last chicane (grass+ no rumble strips IIRC) but it's not zoomed out enough for my taste. doesn't show off the track at all (which really adds to the realism of it).

Sorry if I seem really ultra crazy negative, but I've seen way better from you, PMC or not, and it really struck me as odd. And I sure wasn't gonna say "i don't like it" without giving my reasons. that's not fair at all.

BTW: Ceiling _Fan: I never answered your question. they are Fuch rims (from the old 911s) that you can buy used in game. I have a black set on my Yellowbird.

Swiss: Yeah, I like Civil more, and will certainly take it over mechanical. that said, being an engineer for Porsche would be sweet indeed, hehe.

thanks man. that's really nice of you. two canadians helping each other out ! :D but yeah, i shall change my entry then. hopefully i got enough stock shots kickin' around. can't really use the tv downstairs now coz i have a visitor sleeping in the couch. glad to know i was right about the rims. i used to have an old beetle in the game with those set of wheels on it. looks dope!

The shot not looking good (which it does anyway to my taste) isn't the theme....the theme is realism.....and I find it a more realistic than the 92CP. It seems less coreographed and looks more like something you'd see out of a race report of a car magazine ("and another strong contender of the day was jgda9rs in the 787B putting out an outstanding effort and getting 2nd overall"... that sort of thing) - not a car review where they can bolt cameras left, right and centre and do endless amounts of takes.

I do agree with 80Y. jgd's shot looks much more realistic than mine. I actually really like the angle on jgd's. I think it could easily beat anyone's shot in the polls!

well i did crop it, i was thinking of when i was panning to take a shot of a motorcycle on the road, and the photographers shooting from behind the guardrails on a race track. i mean, they dont really have a lot of opportunities most of the time, if at all, to go out on the track and shoot cars going 200mph. the colours, may i add, can be said about the modern dslr's photos today... i dont know though... the shot still seems plain to me. thanks for the support anyways.

perhaps i should submit something with this sort of flavour, but in pmc style... ugh. i hate pmc sometimes.

hey...unedited and PMC is all thats viable to me right now.....sorta geting the hang of those super crisp clean shots but the computer isn't. Takes too long and I don't have PS - I'm just hanging out for when my Laptop comes next year (paid for by parents because of university) which I will ensure has all the goods.

Guys, I entered this picture right now...

Final Entry

Sorry if I just wasted your time. :(

Just thought the competition was already over, since it's 14th right now... But since the title remained the same, I decided to go ahead and post a picture.

Don't worry, the competition is only closed when I say so (or if there is a civil riot).
I'll keep it open just one more day, so that more people enter

I know I'm horribly late, but I was out all yesterday >_<

I had one with brighter colours, but it looked less realistic. I might post it in my gallery though.

Final Entry

:lol:civil riot:lol:

I definitely like civil more also. Mechanical is pretty fun also, but requires heavy critical thinking. Engineering for Porsche would be the icing on the cake.:D

I think both will require alot of critical thinking, haha.

I like Dave's because it seems like a trackside camera, ya know? those stationary ones they use on the straights.

final entry

i figure this one looks more realistic than the first one. whatever. i don't really care anymore
