Pescarolo Sport is entering a special Peugeot 908 at Le Mans this Year and the livery was just unveiled today. Gran Turismo is featured rather prominently on the rear fenders and on the rear wing. Now I know this is nothing new as GT has been sponsoring cars and Le Mans for years and Pescarolo Sport has long had ties to playstation (also featured on the car) but still I thought it was newsworthy.

Wait, wasn't the 908 sponsored by Forza/Microsoft last year? I might be thinking of another car, but I thought there was a black 908 that had Forza decals.

You would be correct. The factory 908's are still sponsored by xbox 360 but this is a customer 908 in the hands of pescarolo sport. A team that has a history with Playstation/Gran Turismo.

IT'S going to be in GT5

DONE DEAL

Hurray!

👍

👍

It looks 100x better then the Xbox 360 cars

EDIT: Looks like our Prologue money is being well spent

I know this does not "confirm" anything but it gets me thinking... Audi R8 LMS fully sponsored by playstation and GT, nissan 350z fully sponsored by PS and GT, and now this Pescarolo (am I missing others?). These are not simple banners over the windshield (Nur 24hr), these are full on endorsements. To be honest I would be really surprised if they did not appear in GT5. Maybe not on release but at the very least as DLC. E3 can't come soon enough.

Isn't this PD's way to tell us that GT5 is coming? Instead of releasing press notes or news about the game, they are showing a lot of presence by sponsoring teams in major racing series, to build up the "racing simulation" characteristic of the game.
Different aproach to generate awareness. Just a thought.

Nice observation m8, maybe they are revealing cars this way, instead of showing us teasers and pictures

Hehe, with all the input PD put into racing they might as well have their own race team :sly:

That is by far the best Le Mans car sponsor job in ages.... Hopefully the livery will feature in GT5 👍

It's also great to see GT increasing their racing presence;)

I think this is PD's way of getting their top online drivers to be trained in GT Academy and given a chance to drive for their sponsored cars in different series. What do you guys think? What better way to promote a game when given a real shot at being promoted to a real race driver. That is "KAZ" dream from virtual to reality.

This is not the first Playstation and Gran Turismo sponsored LM car and probably not the last, maybe some of us are looking a little too far into it.

This is great news. I always thought that we wouldn't get the LM Peugeot in GT5 considering the works team is sponsored by MS/Xbox. I may be "looking to far into it" as Jay V says, but this might mean that we will indeed get this car in GT5 (not with the works team livery, but the car is what matters).

Normally I would agree with you, but Pescarolo had two cars in GT4, so I would expect the partnership beteween them and PD to continue. This doesn't necessarily give any hints to a close release date, but whenever GT5 does come out, I think we can be fairly certain that this car will be in the game.

Some of you guys don't realize that PD have been doing this for years (since before GT4) and sponsor cars that have never been in a GT game. PD is just taking advantage of sponsorships, and this is probably a source of income.

Surely PD is splashing out to advertise, not getting income.

It's just regular advertising, to increase interest in the brand seeing as an announcement for GT5 is imminent.

Seeing as both Peugeot and Pescarolo have been in previous games, I'd bet it's a good chance of this car being in GT5, but not just because of the livery.

Not really because of announcements being imminent, PD/Sony have been sponsoring teams in motorsports for years now, since 1998 in fact. Quite simply its just advertising to their core market - casual gamers who like motor racing.
Its the best kind of advertising too, if they end up on a winning car, it becomes timeless too, as it appears on thousands of photographs, videos, etc.

True say, you're spot on.

Awesome! I was worried there would be no chance of the 908 making it into GT5 because of the works team's aforementioned XBOX sponsorship, but now there's hope! :)

Just to clarify, although it helps its chances because Pescarolo have a good relationship with Sony/PD and have appeared in GT before, there have been plenty of Gran Turismo-sponsored cars before that never appeared, such as:

(the Gran Turismo sponsorship is on the spoiler, I have the model of this very car at home, is how I know ;) )

Oh, and I just found this too:

Yeah, that's kind of what I meant. I was suggesting that through their advertising, they're gaining clients that otherwise might not be interested in working with them, hence indirectly giving them a profit.

Well all that advertising money is a tax write off on profits from GT and PD projects the more profits, the more sponsorships, the more sponsorships, the more influence in the racing communities, the more influence means, more licensing rights to cars in GT. It's all connected and I'm sure it's all in the big picture of Kazunori's dream of building up drivers from his game. I'm sure we will see more GT Academies poping up in countries that they have most influence in. The UK is the biggest market for for GT, so it just makes sense to have their first high performance driving school there. I maybe getting ahead of things but thats my take on it and I don't see why they would not try to do it. Hey think of it as "Green Racing" The world is a better place since we would be saving a lot of pollution by getting our talent pool from a simulation game than from years of training only kids that can afford to race Karts with deep pockets. It just narrows the gap between the have and the have nots. MORE POWER TOO GT and it's fan base GTPLANET!!!! What say you????

Yeah, have a training base with GT games will open a chance for a lot of people with talent that don't have money to run in a kart competion.

PS: This Porsche looks so good. *-*

Yes, but they already have the license for Peugeot cars, they have a very good relationship to Citroen, which is in the same group plus the from you mentioned relationship to Pescarolo.

This IS very interesting and i could imagine we will see this 908 in GT5, even if it comes later via DLC.
