I finally got myself a SCC copy! Not easy, I tell you ...

Now, I'd like to know who: a) owns SCC also; b) is interested in playing it online.

I'm still beggining my SCC offline career, getting used to the physics, learning the old (but tweaked) and new tracks. My laptimes are a disgrace atm, but they'll get better (at, least, I hope so) :dopey:

My plan - if possible and with enough players - is to do a new ROC Event (SCC Edition) with the first round starting two weeks from now.

For those of you not familiar with what ROC is, check the FC Edition threads:

Event rules thread: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=115152

Round 1: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=115234

Round 2: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=115391

Round 3: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=115550

Round 4: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=115696

Round 5 (Final): https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=115907

The way I see it, there's no point in organizing this if we don't have at least 10 players applying.

In a 10 player situation, it would work like this:

Round 1 - 5 races, 5 survivors + 1 lucky loser (4 players eliminated)
Round 2 - 3 races, 3 survivors + 1 lucky loser (2 players eliminated)
Round 3 - 2 races, 2 survivors (2 players eliminated)
Round 4 - Final race, SCC ROC Champion found

I think less than this is no fun.

So, who's interested?

For goodness sakes, you just bought the game less than 12 hours ago. Bloody hell, you don't waste any time, do you?

But I'm in. And good thinking. Let's get cracking before the Scandinavians and a certain Pole & Brazilian kill the lap time records for everybody. ;)

BTW, you actually managed to hit the 4th fastest time with the 355 Berlinetta at Spa with that 'stinker' of a lap so you're not doing too badly.

That event sounds like fun, but in all honesty I don't think you should be in too much of a hurry to run it. Personally I would give it a month or two to let everyone progress in their single player campaigns, get used to the game and unlock more cars. Biggles is yet to purchase, and another member Jarama says he's gonna buy it soon.

Shaggy, you're totally missing the point. However, as you weren't around to suffer the embarrassment and humiliation generated in hefty doses by the first ROC event, you can be forgiven. On the surface, it may look like Hun200kmh is trying to stir interest in this title. But in truth, while so many people are preoccupied with NFS:Shift, I suspect he's just trying to give the 'old man's club' a chance to sneak in a few victories before some of the younger and quicker strikers jump on board. Biggles will be here soon, I'm sure of it.

It's just taking him a bit longer to come to the inevitable conclusion that Shift is a lot of fun, has some great tracks on the roster, not to mention an excellent selection of cars, terrific lag-free private lobbies and brings some interesting and innovative new concepts to the table, but the handling model, which is the heart and soul of any racing game, is seriously flawed, completely unrealistic and no amount of tuning can truly straighten it out.

Hey, Biggles, tell your brother to buy you a copy of SCC in the UK and send it over or Marios' going to start the party without you!

How long til this gets rolling??? I wouldnt mind taking part... 👍

hi HUN
i'm in too.so better pratice while you can.

:ill: ACK! Too late. I'm sure Ardius is lurking around here too somewhere....:nervous:

I'm guessing the slaughter racing will begin around the 2nd week of October Blitz.

@ Sh. Alonso: I do not intend to start this before at least two weeks. Considering each round takes a week to be completed, and the full event will have 4 or 5 rounds, that gives everyone a lot of time to get (unlock/buy) cars, learn tracks, etc.

I also hope by then we have the game already patched, but I'm unsure about it.

We will see, of course, if there's no interest in two weeks time the event will be postponed. Meanwhile, it would be great if all interested would post here so we get a good idea about how many people will race the full event.

@ jjaisli: I think I read somewhere that Ardius's PS3 went YLOD, not sure if he already solved that problem.

@ Blitz: welcome aboard, the plan is to get this going next month, starting Round 1 October 12th (Monday). We will see if that's possible. The layout of the event will be very similar to the previous one I organized in FC, but with a few minor changes probably (experience teaches us).

@ hm66: Will do, will do

So far, pre-registered (just an indication, people will need to apply when the event is launched) are:

1. GTP_Hun
2. jjaisli
3. Shaggy_Alonso
4. GTP_Blitz187
5. mhm66

How active is the online for SCC right now?

Is it like FC was, with the same crowd every night (this i like) or is it extremely active with many many lobbies at a time?

In the evening, after around 5pm, it becomes quite active - normally around 10 lobbies. Around midnight there would be around 4 to 8 lobbies. There are a number of core players around. Also quite a few unfamiliar names around, probably due to the Beta still being active.

Sometimes it can take a while to get into some good races. But the distribution is still quite troubled; many people who want to buy it can't even get it yet. So the online play is still coming alive, where naturally the real players will come to the fore over the coming weeks, hopefully.

Yea i think i will be getting this tomorrow then, i reviewed the car and track lists and then kept remembering how much i enjoyed FC's physics and the good crowd online. SCC it is.

Are 16 player lobbies stable and do they fill up?

I've never done any races with 16 players. The most I've done is around 10 players I think. The stability is not perfect; there are some occations when individuals get dropped from the link. But not very often.

Hi danjama, long time no see :)

About Shift vs. SCC I bought Shift a few weeks ago and tried to give it a fair chance. But finally decided that I didn't like it.Very strange physics, at times too forgiving but overall with a oversteer tendency that is unrealistic and becomes annoying. the AI is arcadish (in a "destruction derby" sense) and the gameplay structure is built around traditional NFS style. Only good racing is happening online.

Meanwhile, yesterday I got SCC, so I'm not yet active online. I'd say the physics are somewhat different from FC, but so far I'm liking it. Tonight I had the chance of comparing this final build to the Beta version I knew, because I did a few races with the Enzo. And, at least this car, is much improved over theone we had in the beta.

Just tried the Zonda and hated it, that car is a PIG but, if I recall correctly, you were a great fan of the PIG cars :D (550 and 575 Maranello).

I think most of the FC community will end up playing this online so if you want good company do join! ;)

Oh, and SCC online, from what I experienced in the beta and also, for what I experienced last night in a couple of races I did with jjaisli, is "miles ahead" from FC (it isn't hard, lol).

You're right Hun (Mario is it?), the Zonda is a horror show. I want a challenge for sure, but it becomes frustrating when the only way to drive is to tip toe around the track like your granny might. Unfortunately the Koenigsegg (sp?) is equally impossible to drive. It's like one of the cars from Race Driver Grid - really floaty only without the forgiving brakes and stability. However the Enzo is massively improved as you say. Those two aforementioned cars are the only ones i've tried so far that I haven't liked. I'll be adding you all as friends on the PSN tonight. Hopefully we'll be racing each other like dogs soon enough 👍

It's a real shame to hear the Zonda and Koenigsegg are "porked", they were probably the 2 cars i was looking most forward. Long time no see it may seem, but i'm always lurking and reading :D

JJ tells me the 550M has actually been improved for SCC....much less of a pig. That's a shame :P

What you guys don't appreciate is that jj's the only person in North America who owns SCC & unlike some of you guys, jj goes to bed around 7.30 pm most nights (there's not much night life around the Ramapo Mountains). So, there's going to be precious little online activity for me with SCC. :(

I haven't given up on Shift yet - kind of enjoying it actually - but still not sure what to think of it. It IS nice to have all those different tracks to play around on though.

I expect I will get SCC eventually, especially since GT5 seems to have been pushed back again. I'm kind of annoyed at the whole thing really, because SCC's obviously ruined FC online, where there was plenty of good racing still to be had, while SCC isn't even available for sale over here! :grumpy:

Please feel free to start without me... ;)

And I hate to tell all you wanna-be SCC champs this, but I notice MHAILWOOD already has SCC. :mischievous:

I love the Konigsegg! It takes a very disciplined drive to make it work. No slick tyres, so it take some patience around corners. Very little rear downforce, so that can be tricky. It's a belter down the straights. And it sounds great too.

I'd have to disagree that it's anything like Grid - For me, every car in Grid had way too much grip. The Konigsegg in SCC is the opposite - it has a normal amount of grip for a road car.

This sounds cool... 12th of october sounds good too... count me in ! 👍 I WILL need to practice though... use to Shift at the moment... but that shouldnt take long ;)

Good to see you here Danjama. If I had to do it all over again (with the benefit of the last few weeks' experience) and could only choose between SCC and Shift, I would buy SCC in a heartbeat. Perhaps it's because my time with Ferrari Challenge means I've developed a bias for it's great handling model. Like Biggles, I'm still having a lot of fun with Shift (provided of course I don't stay up past my bed time)* and it really does have a lot of positive qualities. But I just can't take it seriously because the handling model is so flawed. The car just see-saws back and forth between understeer and oversteer constantly. And it's really a shame because it has amazingly stable and lag free lobbies. If EA/SMS could fix the broken handling and tweak a few other things about this game that are just really silly and irksome, it could potentially be a lot better than SCC. But I doubt they will.

Mario, I'm glad we agree about the Enzo but I don't think the Zonda is quite so bad as you say. And Shaggy, keep in mind, the Koenigsegg is so fast (and relatively heavy) that you don't realize just how fast you're cornering because you have a tendency not to brake early enough to scrub off the speed. It's not going to transition or corner like the 348 Challenge, that's for sure. I only did two tutorial laps with it and it certainly isn't my favorite car. But I bet Danjama will love it. LOL

And yes /Danjama, the 550 has been massively improved. They didn't turn it into the 550GT but it feels more realistic now. The 550 in FC was really a joke. In fact, I think all of the road cars feel more 'realistic' than they did in Ferrari Challenge. I think in general they've tweaked the physics and handling model. The cars are easier to control at lower speeds and tight corners and it's much easier to induce controlled oversteer than it was.

Considering that many guys from here haven't posted yet, and also that when I "launch" the event it will be again a multiforum event (gtplanet and eutechnyx) I guess we will have many more participants.

Vincent, do you know if Eddietrout is a GTPlanet member? If not, I'll send him a PSN message the next time I'm online as I'm sure he'd join in.

Hey guys, I few weeks ago i was thinking of buying a racing game. My first idea was buying Dirt 2 but after playing the demo I changed my mind. Then I saw at GTPlanet's homepage an offer of SCC's beta key. When I played it i knew this was the game for me. The near real life driving experience got me. It reminded me a game for the PC - GTR2.
Last night I tried NFS:Shift and it convinced me that I bought the right racing game.
You guys can count me in to play. But I'm sure I can't keep up with you cause I must pratice a lot before getting any competitive. First, I'm trying to get the hold of my Driving Force GT at SCC :<

I'm already in GTP_Hun's friends list.

Go easy on me please :P

Good to have you join in TheBig1. 👍 We just need JoaoPereira_P to sign up and we'd have a full Portuguese contingent. :)
