Hey, where's the tune? This mild build doesn't as much thrive on the wizardry of suspension/ LSD/ transmission tuning. Why? This is supposed to be a quick build and the stock components are stout enough to handle what power it makes. Sound like a lot of money to you for all the more you get? Not hardly. Just for comparison purposes, I tested 4 vehicles that sit in a similar drivetrain/ horsepower/ price bracket. Just for kicks I threw in a Crossfire, since it also fell into the power/ price area.
So, this next part is going to be just a bit messy since I have no clue how to embed an Excel spreadsheet.
Numbers fall as thus:
Cost (plus Oil)/ PWR/ 0-60/ 0-100/ Quarter Mile/ Top Speed/ Flying Lap (El Capitan Normal)
Talon Tsi:-------------- 41990/ 5.279/ 6.98/ 14.95/ 15.285@ 102mph/ 165.03/ 2'01.859
Focus RS:-------------- 41460/ 4.764/ 7.48/ 15.02/ 15.441@ 103mph/ 149.73/ 2'01.980
Dodge SRT-4:---------- 20690/ 5.801/ 7.20/ 16.32/ 15.476@ 97mph/ 145.81/ 2'02.821
Eclipse GT '95 (6.2 Mile): 18256/ 5.879/ 7.43/ 16.55/ 15.784@ 97mph/ 159.84/ 2'07.045
DC5 Integra:------------ 25950/ 5.199/ 7.42/ 16.74/ 15.800@ 98mph/ 156.99/ 2'03.025
Chrysler Crossfire:------- 36120/ 5.948/ 5.98/ 15.75/ 14.630@ 97mph/ 157.71/ 2'00.261
Sure the Crossfire whipped it in almost every catagory. The correct wheels are also being driven. Meanwhile, the Talon is quicker in every catagory than it's front-drive counterparts, faster in top-end, and when driven at the limit, exhibits none of the traits that malign it's competitiors. Understeer just lightly tugs at the wheels to remind you what wheels are being driven.
Give it a drive. Eagle wants to be remembered.
Cheers,
Jetboy
