WRC Modern Classics S3: Season 2007

@Dreadmed, your times are utterly crazy. Respect!
Thanks! To be honest I have no idea where that came from, I did 2 practise runs of that full stage and they were both around the 17:30+ mark. My nerves were absolutely shot at the end of that 2nd pass but my jaw dropped when I heard "That was a 16 minute..."

That was one I wish I recorded just to look back at, alas I'm running low on space again and a 20 minute recording would have been pushing it... and sorry to hear that @Belgianwaffle, hope things get better!

E: My recorded run for this round;

"Day One" of Mexico, Stage 1-5: got a 16 seconds penalty on Stage 2 because of a roll that got me cut involuntarly a hairpin and so a reset :grumpy: Better than a puncture at least

"Day Two", Stage 6-9: some minor errors, one inconsenquential roll on Stage 9 :)

"Day Three", Stage 10-14: a 5 second penalty, caused by half roll and reset, tainted this final part :indiff:

I will skip the next 2 rallies; see you in Sardegna

Massive well done to all those who completed Rally Norway, a tough and long rally that show little mercy on the drivers. @Dreadmed taming the narrow forest roads to take victory number 2 of the season. With @Belgianwaffle coming home 2nd once again and GFnR_ItoSaku taking P3.

This result leaves the championship i a very tight spot as we head to the first gravel event of the season. Just 4 points separating @Dreadmed and @Belgianwaffle at the top.

After the concentration problems in Norway... I was super focused for this Mexican chapter... So focused I forgot to take screenshots 😂
But concentration is vital in this rally. Nonetheless I still had a few lucky moments... One time on that deadly jump, I hate that one in this direction! And one hit with a wall of a bridge, that could have been a puncture. But all went well... See you guys in Portugal!

I was also quite lucky to get away without a puncture, had a couple moments that would have been borderline lethal if hardcore damage was still enabled (my Focus did still suffer damage to the internals for a couple stages).

In a way I prefer running the harder tyres over those stretched stints, it seems to me that either compound both move to a similar grip level once they start properly wearing out, the medium (in this case) seemed to lose a ton of grip from one stage to the next. At least, that's the excuse for my horror show on stage 8.

Hopefully the the shorter itinerary and wetter weather for "Argentina" plays a part although I have my doubts, @Belgianwaffle looked rather imperious here.

Keep saying to myself.."slow down you moron". Nearly got through a stage without a hiccup last night.
As I say...nearly haha.
Started next rally four stages, and even impressed mysef

Just don't get how far behind I am, is this game genuinely just harder than dirt rally or what?.
Super concentration during 1st 3 stages, yes on the 2nd stage I had a brain fart and went left at the junction instead of right. And 3rd stage spent 20 seconds on my roof. But the 1st stage was clean(obviously not fast). And I am still 40 seconds behind top spot.

These cars at Portugal is hell of a fun combo. The Skoda feels like it's dancing across the dirt, so nice to drive.

Had a really good Stage 1 & 2 - hit a roll on Stage 3 that felt comedically slow and long and bunged me with a 30 second reset penalty despite still being able to see the track from where I was.
Probably could've gotten back on with about 10 second time loss without it resetting me but it is what it is! Looking forward to finishing this one up.

Tyre selection is absolutely savage this week - I've a set of softs and a dead set of mediums to my name with about 50 miles of track left to cover. Lord have mercy.

That's what I was afraid of when I saw the full stage featuring twice, it felt like the tyres were completely gone in Mexico and that was with two 50km (hard) and one 30km (medium) stint. Rough sums put Portugal at a total of 170+km...

I tried to do a comparison on the clubs racenet page but it only lets you see individual "replays" or head-to-head with your own, I couldn't really glean that much from my end just looking at your runs in isolation. It could be any number of things that's causing such a gap, the best I can suggest is to pick someone else to look at and see where exactly you're dropping time the most.

Now wether this is the other two being slow or not is another question, but i did take a little hope from this stage. It is actually alot more enjoyable when you dont go colin mcrae.

I did a lot of testing to see if I could reduce tyre wear for Portugal... But could not find a solution unfortunately ... And when I saw the first times of @Dreadmed I knew that a cautious driving style was not an option either..
I had a scary moment, when the internet connection was gone after ss4... I thought of my fellow countryman Neuville and tried to stay as cool as him when in trouble 🤣🤣 Eventually I got it fixed and managed to upload my tlme .
I never recuperated from the big loss in the first long stage with worn tyres. I closed the gap somewhat at the end, but beating @Dreadmed was never in the mix.
So far he wins the 'odd' rallies, and I the 'even' ones. Unless someone still surprises us in the remaining time..
