Hi everybody. First of all i want to explain the aim of this thread. I checked the forum, but the most interesting subject was close, so no more feedback possible on it. I made this thread to do a virtual benchmark on NFS Shift on PS3 (Sorry Pc and Xbox).
The aim is to clearly get a ladder of the differents cars of the game (a bit like the Top Gear show).
Test all the cars of the game, with all rating possible is just kind of impossible for a single player (maybe you can do it before the release of GT5, but that's another problem :)), so this subject could be really interesting for a player which is looking for a good or fun car (good cars aren't always the funiest to drive).

There will be two differents ladders. One for the stock cars (with stock setup, reward car are allowed), and one for the "rated personaly setuped" cars. The first is a fair benchmark of all cars, and the 2nd allow any players to find his online car, or League car (i mean leagues which are created on this forum).

There will be two time which is going to be record per car, with differents rules. The first is important if you want to contribute to the ladder. The second is for fun (and still optional) because i know that some people will not like to do it.

1) Leagues benchmark

-Pro mode
-All assists = off (abs possible)
-Controller // steering wheel setup = Free
-Shifting = Free
-Clutch = Free
-Forcefeedback = free
-View = Free (back view if you want, but what a waste on this game)
-View assists = Free (but, honestly, is there any green arrow on a real track which become red when you have to brake? :dopey:)
-Damage = All (you are not looking for a wall, right?)

2) Hardcore benchmark (Only players with steering wheel, H-gearbox, and 3 pedals, can do it)

-Pro mode
-All assists = OFF
-Steering wheel setup = Rotation: 900°, Steering sensitivity: 100%, Speed/steering ratio: 0%
-Shifting = H-gearbox (shifting on the wheel is not allowed!)
-Clutch = Manual (automatic clutch= off), with your left foot (yes it's too hard with the right one, i tested it)
-Forcefeedback = Minimum is 6 (out of 10)
-View = Cockpit view. Sorry but drive a real car when your head is on the hood is dangerous (you will loose some skin or hairs at 200mph), and drive a radiocontroled car when you control it from an helicopter flying three meters above the track is REALLY dangerous at Greenhell! (do i really need to explain why? :P).
-View assists = OFF (I mean all, no arrows on the track, no speed indicator on your screen, nothing! And yes you have to complete your lap to see your time, this is really exciting, i guarantee it! If you don't know how to desactivate the screen interface, just push 2 times on the left arrow of your controller)
-Damage = All

I don't ask any video or picture of your time. Because not everybody will be able to do that, and cause a screenshot don't prove anything about the respect of the rules. In two words: Be honest when you contribute (your name won't appear near your time in the benchmark, this is not a "driver ladder", but a "car ladder").

The way you post (please try to respect it, it would be easier for everyone to get clear informations):

Car: give the name and tell if the car is stock or modified one ( give the rating: 4.00, 5.98, 9.80 for example)
Setup: Stock or Modified (you may link your setup to allow everyone to try it, if the setup already exist on a threat, just link the page)
League time: xx,xx.xx
Hardcore time (optional): xx,xx.xx
Comments on the car: ("Wow this car is insane, i can powerslide and cut grasses very easily with it, and the pink colour fit it very well! My mother should buy one in real life!", or something more interesting like the steer-feeling you get with it, or what's wrong with the gear-ratio)

Some advices:

-You should test a car (during long time, during severals hours, severals laps, you must have blood on your hands or anything else liquid) and post the two needed time, instead of posting 20 times about 10 differents cars in 1 day. The real interest is to have the better time for a particular car, not a ton of laptime which can be easily reached.

-If you see that your time progression with a car isn't improving anymore, but you think that you can do a real better time, put your game in "normal mode" (i gonna be flame) while keeping the test-setup.
The grip level is higher and you will be able to take corner at a better speed. You have to get, in "most cases", a "0.8s per minute" (could be more or less depending of the car of course) time-saving in normal mode instead pro-mode.
I mean if you get a 7min00s bestlap in pro-mode you should get a 6min54.xxs in normal mode, for example.
Then back in pro-mode, you will certainly be more confident in corners and get a better race-line. I personnaly use this a lot to build a setup.

-In hardcore mode, whithout any aid, manual clutch, and while using your left foot to clutch (and not to brake), you will have some issues if you don't use it properly.
You should use Heel-Toe downshifting to set goods laptime. (Wikipedia is your friend and some video can be found on youtube.)
Let's try an exemple, you are cruising at 200 mph in 6th gear, you have to brakes and take a turn at 80mph in 3rd gear. Well, you have to downshift (5th, 4th and finally 3rd gear), but, if you downshift too early (before deceleration and entering the turn), or downshift whithout hitting the gases, you will block the wheels which are drive by the engine, the car won't be stable at all during the deceleration.
If you are lucky, you will lost time, if you are not, you can say goodbye to your car or whatever concerning yourself.

-There is another technic, not realistic at all but useable in Nfs Shift: when you brake whithout pushing on the glutch pedal, the engine continue to drive the wheels, and you increase your braking distance, so you are less accurate than you want to be (time lost).
Something you can test that illustrate what i say, pick a car (doesn't matter which), do a quick race, put the 2nd gear, accelerate a little to prevent your car from stalling (yes, it is possible in this game and the time to restart the engine is pretty long!), and stop hitting the gases.
Like in reality (but this is really more in reality) your car is going to go on it own. If you upshift, the speed of your car is going to increase.
So, when you brake, you have to clutch and sustain it during the whole deceleration, then put the gear you need (6th to 3rd in this case without downshifting in 5th, 4th then 3rd).
The better moment to downshift is at the enter of a corner, after deceleration.
Before you leave your left foot from the clutch pedal, accelerate to get the right RPM accorded to your actual speed (this will prevent you to block your wheels, and you need a good knowledge of your car and your gear-ratio setup).
Don't left your foot too promptly from the clutch if you are not sure of your actual RPM or you will spin out during re-acceleration.
All of those phenomenons are growing with the power/torque of the car.

-From my experience, i actually loose 5/6 seconds by using left foot to clutch, Heel-toe downshifting and H-gearbox instead of just using the shifting on the wheel, on a whole Nurburgring lap.

-Concerning the brakes without ABS, when you have to do a brutal deceleration, hit hard the brakes at the beginning to reach the wheels-block limit, then back a little your foot to get a safe zone between the max breaking point and the lock of the wheels.
During a deceleration, the downforce which apply to your car decrease a lot, and forces wich are applying to the brakes decrease too, so becarefull, less downforce mean that your tires get less grip, and less forces to the brakes mean that you will not need the same pressure to block them. You have to adjust your pressure on the brake pedal by progressively decrease it. For exemple, you hit the brakes at 200 mph, you adjust the pressure to prevent locking your wheels at this speed, but if you keep the same pressure limit on your break pedal, your wheels may lock at lower speed.
You really have to work on the deceleration, this is the most difficult thing (imo) to do clean.

If you are looking for a setup, Terronium-12 on this forum can do what you want for you favorite car. But check first if your dream setup doesn't already exist! You can find the subject here: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=120505

I hope this thread will be enjoyed, so just let's post your time!

Hmmm this interests me but the 900 degree turn is putting me off, any car in real life that was the spec of the cars in this game would have a short steering rack installed enabling them better turn in.

A couple of those settings seem a bit harsh - wheel rotation and use of clutch/shifter are very car specific things, though you can modify the steer lock on the car itself to replicate most any wheel/steer ratio I guess. But otherwise, yep, can't recommend driving HUDless/racing lineless enough, it's so much more immersive without the overlays.

I will try to be accurate, and don't forget anything :D

Settings for the steering wheel in hardcore mode are realistic, and you will be able to play with. But you will have to fight a bit with it (like in reality). The aim in hardcore mode is to get a time with the game setup in the most realistic way. If you are not convinced you should see those videos (i'm sure you already done).

-Corvette ZR1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6mEirkQN8o
-Pagani Zonda F: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euHkl9SVYTY

Try the corvette ZO6 and the Zonda F in hardcore mode on the ring, and you will see that you will have to move your wheel in the same way of those real drivers.
Listen to the comments of the Pagani driver. He is complaining about the steer lock. You should experience the same feeling: with stock setup you will have to turn a lot your wheel with the Zonda compared to the Z06.
I'm not saying the setting is perfect, but it seem to be close to reality, and still really thrilling to use.

I know that you are not shifting with a H-gearbox in a Nissan GTR (shifting on the steering wheel) or a Porshe 911 GT3 RSR (sequential gearbox), but you know, it's hardcore mode :sly:.

And i repeat, the hardcore time is optionnal, but if you want to try it, do it correctly :)

Ps: The Veyron has 7 gears, so this car is an exception for the hardcore mode, and you should use your shifting on the steering wheel.

I am not happy with trying to learn driving in 900 degree. And Clutch. I've tried that and it was a disaster. Mainly because I'm use to Left Foot breaking. Right now my setup is Semi Auto, with PRO mode with ABS on, Rest of aids are OFF because they are not helping me at all, i need that power but computer cuts off completely by interfering with TC and SC. Also my laps are made without Best Line, i don't like it. Spoils the time, my line is better for me, i had it in my head. Also more then 5000 km done on Nordschleife so my setup is this

PRO mode
ABS ON
TC, SC, Best Line OFF

G25
360 degree.

So i will post some times in that area, well just like i did earlier.

Ok let's begin the ladder with two of my favorite car.

Car: Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Stock
Setup: Stock
League time: 7,04.15
Hardcore time (optional): 7,06.59
Comments on the car: Well, with this car i know why i have spent 60 euros for this game. Just awsome to drive in hardcore with little practice, the chevy is that kind of virtual car which can bring to your hands the feeling to drive a real one. You have to fight with your steering wheel during acceleration when exiting a tight corner. The downforce is really awsome at medium and high speed but a little cheap in tight corners. Gear ratio seem to be nice but the 4th speed deserve to be a bit longer to fit better some highspeed curves.

Car: Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Modified 14.00 Rating
Setup: Thanks to Terronium-12 for his awsome setup: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpost.php?p=3705923&postcount=554
League time: 6,34.64
Hardcore time (optional): 6,40.79
Comments on the car: I was hating this car before i test the Terronium's setup. Now this is just one of my favorite in the game. Instead of being realistic to drive, she's stilling very fun to handle. The only things i change to the Terronium's setup is that i put the 4th gear one clic to the right, provide your car better speed and stability in some fast corner, and increased the 5th and 6th gear for one clic to the right, to get a perfect top speed without nerfing acceleration.

Add a video of that awesome 6:34.640

Somehow i doubt that 6:34:640 with car rated to just 14.00. And that's why.

same lap in HD http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xb-maO9pyA

This is my perfect lap with a baby Lambo in 6:43:750 No way near your 6:34:640. Car rating is 13.97, to fit 14.00 restriction.

And this is the same lap, well not the same, because much faster in a perfect 16.60 rating Lambo. With a time of 6:35:770. Quite close to your 6:34:640

same lap in HD http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2e-qkTb3wTw

1. So now I'm thinking that some one is full of Shift, throw away letter T
2. or making his times not on PS3,
3. or not on PRO mode.

How on earth you could do 6:34:640? In a 14.00 rated car, when you clearly see perfect lap with a much slower time. Thats 9 second of difference!!! From where did you take those 9 seconds on PRO mode?? Did you make mistake with car rating, if you do please don't make small mistakes. You could do that time with 16.60 rated car, which is Fully Tuned. I did very close 👍 And after couple of tweaks in my Lambo i could match or even beat that time.

Answers now :sly:

Just one car today, no time to try another one.

Car: Need for speed Terlingua Shelby Ford Mustang (ouch!) Stock (Reward car)
Setup: Stock
League time: 7,55.31
Hardcore time (optional): 7,57.45
Comments on the car: Well, another awsome car to drive in Hardcore. The car is pretty heavy, so you have to really anticipate her reactions (especially about braking distance). There isn't any real downforce with this Mustang, wich haven't been design to be a real race car. Gear ratio is really nice, nothing special to mention. Be carefull, tires aren't slick so the grip isn't very good, and the car will trape you a lot if you run over the red-white stripes. I strongly recommend this car for all the drivers who want to familiarize themself with the H-gearbox, manual glutch, and breaking without ABS. One of the better "school car", in my opinion. Enjoy.

I don't have that delicateness in my left foot to not lock brakes. That's why i am using it. Didn't know that Shift penalizes ABS. Ehh old dog will not learn a new tricks.

You won't need that much finesse, depending on the car. Most situations can be saved by a quick stab on the throttle.

But braking is dramatically improved (and brake distance shortened) and, as an added bonus, there are quite a few occasions where a little slide in corner entry is quite helpful.

Anyways, may not help your laptimes, but is so much more fun and thrill ;)

There is only one french car is the game, so i was deserving to test it. I will try to not be too patriotic :P

Car: Renault Sport Megane RS Stock
Setup: Stock
League time: 8,42.69
Hardcore time (optional): 8,46.35
Comments on the car: As you know, this car hasen't got a huge amount of horses power. The car isn't really exciting to use. But it is very stable in curves, easy to handle, and you will be able to take some turns at high speed (for the car) if you keep a good using of the accelerator. Be carefull while braking, cause the rear wheels want to play a lot with you (like in reality with this car). Hopefully, you don't really need to brake a lot with it. In most turns, all you need to do is to decelerate (no braking), downshift, accelerate. My only regret is that the 3rd gear is too short to fit well the 2nd segment of the nordshleife. Instead of being hard to master, driving this car is a "close to reality" experience. And it looks like a cute chick in yellow, no? :dopey:

The sexy NSX appeal us today.

Car: Acura NSX Stock
Setup: Stock
League time: 7,59.79
Hardcore time (optional): 8,02.76
Comments on the car: AW-SO-ME. Sorry for the caps lock, but this car recently shared by the Exotic-pack is a must-experience to do. Nearly the best stock setup (amazing realistic handling) i ever test in this game. Driving this NSX is just epic, you can do exactly what you want with it (like Darkos would say, you drive it by thelepathy:P ). This car is one of the best to work your race-line on the Nordshleife. Gear ratio, (especially the 3rd and 4th gears) is perfect for the ring. Only one advice, be carefull when you downshift 3rd to 2nd, you could experience some wheels-locking if you are too rude with the glutch. She looks really great, remember the old Honda NSX (which i prefer, in fact), few car were so well designed in the early of the 90's, and she really got what i call the "drive-appeal". Oh wait, i was missing something, hope you have a good sound system, cause the NSX's engine/exhaust noise is one of the best for this kind of car.

Related video: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6070527008986110252#

I don't approve anything in this video, drivers are just road criminals in my opinion. But this is the only real NSX video you should watch. And, in fact, it fit very well the old "Need for speed" spirit. Enjoy :). (Quality isn't good, i know, if you want better one, maybe you can find a high-resolution copy with torrents.)

Ps: If someone wants to post some times and setups for the 6.00, 10.00 and 14.00 rated version of the NSX, it would be great! Thanks.

The Z06 one big heavey yank to say the least. But for such a big car handles really well it loves them 120mph+ turns, And the torque is amazing. Get into a slide and it's quite controlable. But look at a curb with your back wheel and your facing where you came from.
Like I said not a great time by me but a fun 7 minutes anyhow.

Well, i haven't post any car review the last two days. In fact i was doing more than 40 Nordshleife laps to bring you a full test between two cars (four if you count upgraded versions).

A wonderfull (or not) time-attack between the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX, and the new Maserati Gran Turismo S.

Which car is going to set the best laptime in the stock match?
Which one is going to set the best laptime in the 10.00 rated match?
All you want to know below!

Stock Match:

Car: Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX (Stock) 5.90 Rating
Setup: Stock
League time: 7,54.80
Hardcore time (optional): 7,58.67
Comments on the car: Nothing particular with this car easy to handle. Thanks 4WD. I didn't notice important failure, the car fit perfectly the Nurburgring. The only annoying thing if you are playing with a 900° steering wheel, is that the steering lock is really too long and imprecise, which is forcing you to fight a bit too much with it.

Car: Maserati Gran Turismo S (Stock) 6.80 Rating
Setup: Stock
League time: 7,39.36
Hardcore time (optional): 7,42.73
Comments on the car: Well, this is clearly not the same driving skill which is required here. The Maserati is not this kind of car which you can drive like a toy. Really heavy, but powerfull, you must anticipate all of your driving actions. Hopefully brakes are awsome, prevent you to smash every walls you will see. The stock setup is great, allowing you to drive this car in safe conditions.

Winner => Maserati Gran Turismo S. This is not a surprised, the Maserati is 15 seconds faster than the lancer, and provide a better driving experience in hardcore.

10.00 Rated Match:

Car: Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX (Fully upgraded) 9.80 Rating
Setup: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpost.php?p=3788566&postcount=728 I'm using this Terronium-12's setup with few modifications to fit the Ring and my personal driving style.
The list of the modifications:
-F. Tire Pressure - 31.30
-R. Tire Pressure - 31.45
-Brake Blance - 55.00
-F. Downforce - 4.00
-Gearing - Final(5.29); 1st(3.23); 2nd(2.08); 3rd(1.65); 4th(1.21); 5th(1.00); 6th(0.84).
League time: 6,59.67 (Full NOS used)
Hardcore time (optional): 7,07.58 (No NOS used)
Comments on the car: I finally did it, break the 7.00min psychological wall. Lot of time spend to get the perfect setup, the car is, as the stock one, really easy to handle. I did the 6,59.67 time twice during my tests, so i think that i have reached my own driving skill limit with this car.

Car: Maserati Gran Turismo S (Modified) 10.00 Rating
Setup: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpost.php?p=3800332&postcount=791 I'm using this Terronium-12's setup with few modifications to fit the Ring and my personal driving style.
The list of the modifications:
-F. Tire Pressure - 32.75
-R. Tire Pressure - 32.90
-Brake Blance - 51.00
-Steering Lock - 30.00
-L. Slip Acceleration Lock - 10.00
-L. Slip Deceleration Lock - 70.00
-L. Slip Preload - 90.00
-R. Downforce - 5.00
League time: 7,04.27
Hardcore time (optional): 7,08.58
Comments on the car: Bullshifts are ending rightnow. This car is really hard to master, but if you can get a good handle with it, she's so cool to drive. One of the best 10.00 rated car if you avoid the EVO IX, in my opinion.

Winner => Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX. You must think that is "normal". But if we are comparing the two hardcore time (done with no NOS), the Maserati is only one second slower than the EVO IX !! Proving that the Maserati has a chance to win, if you are a better driver than the Evo's one. And i think this car will fit well the Leagues created on this forum.

Conclusion: During 10.00 races, if you are looking for a powerfull car with an easy handle, you should pick the EVO. If you are too bored of the EVO (like me) and looking for a thrilling driving experience, you should pick the Maserati. But remember, the Maserati is not a loose car, and you will be able to beat most of the EVO during online races, if you are taking the time to master it.

Here is a record of the Maserati League Time. The visual quality is an epic fail. Cause i recorded it with a 5 years old camera. You should watch the video 2 meters back from your Pc screen .
But you will be able to see the racing-line. Hopefully the sound quality isn't bad, and i recommend you to turn the sound up, if you like DaftPunk.

Both car are not stock cars! Those are not final times, I'm still experimenting with tire pressure now.

I know that the laptime in the ladder is better, but i did the video with a driving gameplay as close as possible to reality. I mean no slide. Quality isn't bad, so i hope that you will appreciate it as i enjoy to made it. Just turn the sound up!

Here is a video of a real Nordshleife time attack with a NSX-R:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdGoFhs1pf4

Today, a league time video of the 14.00 Rated Gallardo.
Final time is 6,32.973 (better than the previous 6,34.64)
I tried to made a lap as clean as possible. I know that there are some raceline errors but it's a good time anyway. Even if there is at least 1 second to cut, the car traped me a lot in some turns, and after 1 hour of trying, i haden't the motivation to continue.

Hope you will enjoy it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuOSqH1R4E4

Make decent lap at least with no cut scenes and montages because Some how i find that Hard to believe. But i will watch closely that video with stop timer to compare my split times with yours. This car on video stick to road well to good in corners. 👎
