I just purchased a '93 240sx SE Coupe, and have found a hairline crack in the top of the radiator (which I think is made of a cast plastic).... This is causing steam to escape, which is making the belts slip (due to the excess moisture) at least I think that's what's causing the belts to slip...... Anyway, I am wondering if anyone knows anything that could seal that crack.. It's very small (almost unnoticeable).... Otherwise, I'm going to have to buy a new radiator....

Please help?....

well you got 2 options, buy a new radiator, or get you some of this stuff called JB weld, its a molding like stuff for plastics, I used it on my radiator for a while and it held really good. But If you get that weld stuff, go ahead and purchase a new radiator, that stuff will hold for a while (and I mean a while) but its not permanent.

BTW post some pics of your car Id love to see another coupe on here. (well at least a USDM one)

Nice to see ya, Fusion.... I haven't seen you around much lately....

Anyway, thanks for the advice... I will locate some JB Weld and give it a go....

I was going to take some pics today, but a bunch of stuff came up.... As soon as I have time (and the car is washed) I will take some pics and post them (I'll PM some to ya as well)....

Oh man, I just noticed that we have the exact same year and model.... Gotta love the S13 Coupe.....

Guess you finally got the car you wanted.

Yep, after searching for almost a year, I finally found a late model USDM S13 Coupe.... Exactly like Fusions, except mine is a deep red (kind of a burgandy)....

What are you rollin' these days, Battle?....

when i installed my FMIC my stock radiator was overheating

I tossed my original radiator and had a custom 3 row copper/aluminum one fabbed up

then i tossed the mechanical fan put in a pair of Electrics i got from a maxima

fans were all the time.. wired them with the ignition...

in fact it works so damn well the temperature doesn't even come up when sitting idle no matter how long i leave it... i hafta drive the damn thing to get it to come up!

so if i was u.. Jb weld it as a crutch.. then look into buying an Aftermarket or Custom Radiator... that way u'll keep the engine nice and cool when u drift that bad boy ;)

or u could look into the local junk yards.. see if they have anything u can use

Yes, thanks Ottoman.... That is indeed my plans.... I will probably get a nice alluminum radiator and like you said, update the fans.... Does anyone have any advice on intakes? (heat shield?).....

np

do u mean a heatshield to gap the space between the bumper and the radiator?

or a heat shield to block the heat from the filter?

Well, I am refering to the filter heat shield..... There are heat shields that can be attached to any filter, there are heat shields that suround the filter completely (which they say creates a better vortex of air), and then there are heat shields that are like an alluminum box surounding the area around the filter (usually with a rubber seal (to seal when the hood is closed)....

I am wondering if you have any experience with such devices, and which type you would suggest?.....

well i have the second type of Shield on my Honda...

but on the 240.. my situation is a little diff... a) because my intake is on the right side and my car is turbo.. so the pipe goes straight up the right side and to the right a little, and b)intake temperature doesn't make much difference to me cuz it's being compressed then intercooled anyway

also remember.. a Short Ram intake and a CAI effect different areas of the power Band... SR being more top end.. and CAI low to mid... since the KA already is a pickup engine with lotsa low end... u might consider that in your decision

the third choice u're talking about.. they refer to as an "icebox" or "coolbox" i know they make one for some honda's and it doesn't yield in much results.. and are generally much more expensive then the rest...

here's an off the wall suggestion for u... Either Relocate your battery to the trunk.. or get a half sized one... then use the free space to run your filter down to your wheel well... (some modding and customizing required) but your piping will be WAY shorter and less restrictive...

in the end they're all just Filters on sticks glamorized with fancy labels..

Just get a K&N filter.. get a pipe made or use rubber elbows and rig up something.. and save your self the money... (home depot and building box is your friend just need some inginuity and creativity)

Thankyou very much... You have been most helpful.... I will probably get a short ram intake... I saw one by Injen that will work well, me thinks....

Thanks again....
