I've consulted Ron and he's okayed it - although seeing as it lacks any form of official status from the forum's Moderator it may be moved to the Spot Race Forum.

In anticipation of the move of the Official GTP WRS from GT3 to GT4 in two weeks, I've decided to run two or three smaller warmup races, to get our collective juices flowing and hopefully to stave off questions about when the series will start in earnest.

Each race will have a standard GTP WRS 7-day deadline and there will be some overlap - again in anticipation of Kent posting a Qualifying Race.

Ready?

GTP Unofficial WRS Warmup Race #1 - A New Car for a New Game

The test: Arcade Mode, Time Trial (fastest single lap)

The track: City Course: Tokyo R246 REVERSE

The car: Dodge Charger 440 R/T '70

Tyres: Sport Tyres (S1, S2, S3) ONLY.

As far as I'm aware (NTSC/Japanese version) you cannot enter garage cars in Arcade Mode time trials, but just in case... THE ARCADE MODE CAR ONLY. :D

To that end:
Arcade Mode Power Setting: 0%
Arcade Mode Weight Setting: 0%

TCS and ASM are banned. The Dukes didn't have it, so neither can you.

Your deadline is Tuesday, March 15th 2005 at 00.01GMT - PM it to me (that's "Famine"), so as not to bother the people who run the ACTUAL WRS... :D). Include your controller type and current WRS Division please.

Feel free to discuss any "T1" times, but keep your T2s and final lap time to yourself.

Sounds good Famine!

So what's your T times so far (since you've had the game for a while)? :sly:

If I get the chance I'll run this but GT4 being released just now has come at a bad time... Taking my quattro down to England for an expert check over this weekend in preparation for the 25th Anniversary.

Who was it that said life is what happens to you when you're busy making other plans?

I'll give this a try since I had bad experiences today in the store with the understeering :)

My T1 is 49.065 (DS2). And yes, my Charger is orange... :D

Corps - I'm going to post an old car/new track combo and a rally select-a-car to complete the three.

I'm guessing Kent will have a qualifier either as old car/old track (Lancer at Midfield?) or a totally new combo...

If I can get my hands on GT4 in due time you can count me in also.

im in too ill take any practice i can get even after winning my division this week i can get a whole lot better ill post my T times when i get the laps down

Thanks for doing this Famine...

Ran a few laps with the combo and shockingly it is bloody good fun. Other than the rev limiter thing it is a great handling car (I like 'em loose in the rear)...still don't like Tokyo though.

Count me in too! :)

👍 What about the old man, is he coming out to play? ;)

20 min session and here are my first GT4 T times posted anywhere on the net :)

Clean:
T1 49.072

EDIT: Sorry didn't notice the no T2 posting rule :dopey:

@Kel
Can you edit your post to exclude my T2 time please? 👍

Wasn't that fast anyway, so I don't think it hurt any.

I don't know to be honest, I know he's not a fan of Tokyo like me,so somehow I doubt it :sly:

I'll try a few laps out tomorrow after some sleep 👍

How's the car for handling?

How's the car for handling?

Nothing like a Mini :)

It's not too bad to be honest. The left turn before T1 and the final right turn before T2 are the ones to watch, apart from that it's plain sailing, sort of. :)

Nice idea, Famine 👍

It couldn't have come in a better week, either. Spring Break (a.k.a. Freedom) is only 3 days away :D

I will definitely take part to this.

T1's to come later.

The Wizard.

ya the big hurter on this car is the no TCS gotta make good work with the throttle off the sharper turns or this car will hate you.
This car feels very much like my real life car with mega torque issues(may be bad and good).
I can also notice a big difference in realism from racing gt3 WRS to gt4 WRS understeer is alot harder to avoid now because of the grip physics engine that they put in.

Had a quick 45 minutes at it though I never liked this track very much.
Best clean T1 so far: 48.205.

Famine, next time pick a car that bounces off the rev limiter all the way around the track instead of just half of the way around. ;)

I managed to pull myself away from the Nordschleife for 30 minutes tonight and nailed a T1 of 48.671 with a T2 to match, clean of course.

There is some more time out there for me, not sure if my leg can take the balance on the throttle pedal to stay off of the rev limiter though, it's hard holding your foot at that angle for 10 seconds so you don't bounce off the limiter.

I guess the Duke Boys didn't need 5th gear running from Boss Hogg.

Best clean so far: T1 47.988. A good T1 but a lousy finish so I'll have another go at it later 👍

The rev limit thing was deliberate, just to annoy all of you pedal users... :D

I don't have work tonight, so I'll work on this after school. 👍

Bout time! Only bad thing is that I have to wait to go home tonight, then back to work tomorrow in order to post times and compare (no internet at home).

hi I'm kinda new to this but it sounds great fun. I've been doin some laps also and I managed a 48.152 T1 .... why don't you post the laptimes? Are you holding out for later on?

Well just keep doin it.... how about exige at the midfield or caterham at autumn park.... hehe

Times are submitted centrally to a "trusted" member - usually Kent or his nominated minion Ron - and results are displayed at deadline. This stops cheat-ass time races... Someone saying they got a 1'30 something, then someone, just to beat them, says a 1'20 something and so on (example times - nothing to do with this race).

It's largely honour based, although the fastest guys know what ought to be possible and any gross cheating can be found out.

Remember that we're looking for 100% clean laps, with NO contact with the walls whatsoever.

I have been asked if I want to make this Race 107.

No.

Although I've picked a car and track combination which is available from the start, so that everyone who has GT4 can play it, I am no more official than anyone else. Unless Kent gives the okay, this remains a warm-up.

t1 is the time they give you while you are running the race its like a checkpoint.
ITs in different places on different tracks, look for your t1 time to pop up at around 48-1min into the lap

Looks like I may not have time to run it until this weekend. My DFP is forever trapped with the "full throttle bug" and this is probably one of those courses where it would really matter. I should have time this weekend to crack that sucker open and fix the wires.

Cant get that 47 again.. but im in the low 48's atleast... now im focousing on the 2nd and last sector...

Why cant we discuss T2 times?
