NEW THREAD: Board Challenge 6 Proposition!!!!!

Hi to all those still lurking around this old forum,

I'll be quick and to the point. I'm not sure which board is running the next Board Challenge (I hear it may be GTRP) but my idea is to basically have a unified race series that runs for the duration of the BC.

I'd guess it's format would be much like the current WRS, a race each week, but the difference would be it would be the same race at all boards participating and at the end of each week we'd have the results of all OLR racers from all boards results combined.

I for one found the last Board Challenge really exciting and the friendly rivalry was awesome but I felt like an observer more than anything else. If the whole racing communiy could participate in some small way I reckon that would be awesome.

I know that participants in the Board Challenge may not have time to partake in this proposed Combined Board series but that wouldn't matter, all the people on the fringe in every Board would have something to compare themselves to other Boards and spark their own little rivalries while observing the big boys competing.

Anyway that's all I had to say....any thoughts???

yes, nice idea, specially since its so hard to be on the 10 man roster that will race...

now we have to find a way to spread the word... maybe put the thread in a more visible place... don´t know...

lol, well I'm gonna go join all the other boards right now and post this exact thread in all of them, we'll see how it goes.

One question I have about using the BC race as the series for all to participate in is don't the racers get all the races at once? This may still work in the WRS I guess but it would be odd knowing that in 8 weeks time we're racing car X at track Y with Z settings? I for one don't mind and would love to have a crack but I can imagine problems if someone posts a time better than the Board member participating in that event? Anyway details could be sorted later...for now, I'm off to post in foreign worlds.................

On a different note I'm trying to get into GTRP to post and it's tough work for this poor little mono-linguist. It won't let me post anything, I'm trying to use babelfish.altavista.com to help me understand why I can't get in but I'm getting no love. Does anyone know why I can't get into the forums but It recognises me as a member in the license section?!? I might try and join as someone new from the forum section....

As far as I remember, the database and the forum require 2 different logins.

lol, well luckily I'm only using it to interpret the other sites, I'm slowly learning german, french, and italian it would seem :sly:

My idea is that you keep it as easy as possible, nothing more difficuilt than WRS type rules, last thing you want is another extremely formal race! like the BC.

Yeah I agree totally, it needs to be real simple, no hard cars to get and stuff like that. We'll see if it gets interest though

But i was under the impression that this comp had no bearing on the BC outcome, which means no points.

It is simply some races organised open to anybody on any board, totally individual.

It doesnt matter if 50 GTP racers enter and only 1 GTN racer enters, no points are awarded to any board, The only points are from official BC races.

Its just a big comp to get as many GT drivers from as many locations as possible, 150 - 200 entries.

Bingo! That was my thinking, I didn't want it to officially be part of BC just a way to get all boards competing together during BC. So ideally all the boards would halt their current racing series for the course of BC and one unifed series for all boards to compete in would be set up. Whether the ones series is posted on all boards or just on one board for all to see I don't know, I just think getting the whole OLR community unitied and focused on BC for this time would be cool.

I'm gonna go post at GTIRN now and see if Torc Talk has replied 👍

Okay,

I have posted everywhere except Torc Talk and there is some discussion everywhere which is a start but no one has confirmed yet when BC is. Here is a summary of my findings so far

GTWeb: Tannis has replied and is not that interested, I'll convince them

GTN: No response so far

GTTimes: ac.cobra 427 has replied and is hesitant

GTPlanet: Obvious

GTIRN: Only just posted there

GTRP: Lots of interest, waiting for Didi to return from holidays for admin point of view

GTPlay: Lots of French discussion and I'm struggling to understand it, but I THINK there is support (after initial confusion)

Team Numbers: One reply from Ryk, needing more clarification, hopefully some support

SOGT: One reply from madbesl, supported

Torc Talk: Any help here would be appreciated

Crazy Team: No reply

GTChallenge: Same prob as GTPlay but I think Wayne understands me and is helping clarify my thoughts

GTPortugal: Supported

So I'm not quite sure where to go from here perhaps the best thing is to get the contact details of race stewards at all these places, I might start seeking this info next

I guess when its time someone will put there hands up and grab the next BC by the balls. Until then i really like your idea of a sort of 'pre-BC-multiforum-the BC you have when you are not having a BC" format 👍

Allowing any number of drivers per forum is a good idea. I'm sure some forums (like the TT) would struggle to get another 10 like the last BC, but i'm sure a couple of us would jump in for the odd race. And then there are the foums who could easily get more then 10 drivers running. Keeping things easy going would also be a bonus.

I hope your TorcTalk login goes well. But if you need to relay anything then just PM me. I lurk here every so often too. :sly:

Thanks for the support 👍 I'll keep checking all the threads and when I get some idea of actual BC dates I'll start clarifying the idea more I guess. I'm happy to make a dedicated thread at all the sites each week during BC for this unified race it would just have more weight if it was handled by a race steward at each of the boards, so I'll hopefully get some support from them.
