Possibly a silly question, but here goes:

I've found many a site that offers these in mp3 format, but they never seem to match up very well with those played during podium ceremonies at the races. So, is there anywhere to download those?

Thanks in advance.

Conventional national anthems are usually played by a full orchestra. But the ones used at the podium ceremonies are played by a wind band.

Interestingly, it has never been the full German anthem because the first stanza was the national anthem.

I like the Brazillian anthem, btw. The Italian anthem sounds arrogant. (Not to antagonise anyone). Oh and I have no feelings for our anthem, what with hating the royal family and all.

When the German national anthem finished for BMW's win a few weeks back, did anyone else find themselves automatically starting the Italian national anthem in their heads? Years of Michael Schumacher winning everything have resulted in the to anthems becoming one in my mind.

Oh, and the British national anthem is horrible; it sounds like someone has died.

Funny you should mention that - I thought the exact same thing!

Now we have Felipe who doesn't know what to do and just smiles the whole time and Kimi's death-stare.

Massa just wears all of his emotions on his sleeve: if he feels he should've won, he looks melancholy; if he knows that the best he could do was third, he's indifferent; if he wins, he's the happiest man in the world. I won't even start on Kimi..

On the topic of anthems, I do enjoy the Italian anthem. It's nice and bouncy, but this is the best I could find so far.. just not the same flair as the one played at the ceremonies. I like most of the other anthems as well, notably Brasil's and Germany's.

Between Ferrari and Valentino rossi i almost know the italian anthem better than my own.

Well since this thread has been made, it kinda struck me as to......
How do the they (the band) prepare for a winners national anthem? Do they practice each of the drivers and teams national anthem before the race started? Or are they really experienced until they could just play any national anthem in such short notice? I was surprised they could play the Polish national anthem so well during the Canadian GP. :D

It'll be a recording. I don't see them using a live band.

[interesting fact]
When Pedro Rodriguez won his first GP back in the 60s, the organisers didn't have the Mexican national anthem to hand, so they played the Mexican hat dance instead
[/interesting fact]

Just imagine... Fernando Alonso wins a race (I know - but stick with it) and, on the podium, they play Spanish Flea.

Or "Fernando"...

It's funny you should say that, because the British national anthem was wrote by exactly the same person who wrote the funeral march.

And on one occasion when Alan Jones won a race (I can't remember where it was, I'm afraid) the organisers played the national anthem of Austria.
