My Honda S2000

Well here are some pictures of my new car. Sorry for the blurry pictures. I was using my sister's Sony CyberShot and cannot for the life of me hold a camera steady to take a good picture. Enjoy! đź‘Ť :D


















She is a 2005 Honda S2000. When I got her, two weeks ago today, she had just over 5,800 miles and as you can see is now approaching 6,500. đź‘Ť The first scheduled maintenance for the car is rapidly approaching at 7,500 miles.

After every drive in the S2000, I walk away very pleased. The car is absolutely wonderful. The interior fits just right. The steering wheel is right where you would want it and it feels great in your hands; the shifter for the transmission is the same way. The engine is excellent; hit the range where the cams switch over to the more aggressive profile and look out for the redline because it arrives quickly (and that blast is very addictive!). I have driven at least a half dozen standards and the S2000s is by the best I have ever touched; the clutch is light, the shifter is direct, and the throws are nice and short.

When it comes to the exterior, the S2k is definitely a looker. Today at lunch, I noticed a half dozen people noticing it and that is just the number of people that walked by in the time I was sitting waiting for my food.

I would not be the one to talk to when it comes to hustling the car around corners because I have done very little of it. There are just not enough roads in Central Oklahoma that curve. But the straight line blasts are a thrill, especially when you hit the VTEC range. What little I have done cornering has left me the impression that the car is extremely well planted and would be suited to just about anything you could throw at it. I have gotten the tail out a bit on a few occasions and it has been very easy to real in, just a quick flick of the steering wheel to the opposite direction.

Finally, let me just say that the car puts a smile on my face all of the time. I absolutely love that it is a convertible. Top down driving is the best and everyone needs to experience it (especially with an engine pulling 8k directly in front of you! ). I have done little driving with the top up and that is still great, but not near the experience of driving with it down.

I'm so proud of you Vash -- you're living the dream! Just out of college and already a wonderful car at your disposal. Several more cautious members here could take a lesson :)

Thanks! Well it helps that I got a wonderful price on the car for such low, low mileage. I was planning on waiting until around November, but I could not pass this one up. :cheers: And what a wonderful car it is! đź‘Ť
 
Nice S2K. Just out of curiosity why the red? Too bad I don't fit in them well or I'd want one REAL badly.

Well I do know about your S2000 from the DYSAGT thread, and quite honestly I am jealous of each of you S2k owners. I mean its the coolest car to own right up there with the big JDM guys. đź‘Ť So like what mods are you gonna put on your car? Maybe import some JDM goodies? Like Amuse bodykits, spoon upgrades, etc.

Well that you, LoudMusic, BreakerOhio, The Vanishing Boy and a few more to own an S2000 in this forum. Great!
 
I would personally just keep it stock and drove it,no crappy bodykits or something,just ruins the looks.(only Amuse R1 or Spoon kit is ok,but it's probably extremely expensive)

Thanks! đź‘Ť Red because the price was too good to pass up and there just are not a lot of S2ks running around here that are red; and really, seeing S2000s is relative because there are not a whole bunch of them running around here in Oklahoma. I have seen a quite a few (remember relative) in Silverstone Silver Metallic, Sebring Silver Metallic, and Berlina Black; there have also been a few white ones thrown in there too. I have only seen one in Laguna Blue and that color is sweet. Formula Red was not at the top of my list when I was originally looking at S2000s, but I am really happy with it. The color really fits the car and looks wonderful.

If I get a camera that can record stuff. Right now I still have to pay for insurance on it and the taxes associated with getting a new car. Insurance is not going to be too bad though because I am able to get my dad's insurance rate on the car; but the taxes are going to rip me a new one. I will also have a payment on it soon too. So it will probably be a bit before I consider any more large purchases.

Nothing right now. I have no money to do any modifications to it. If I did though, I would likely just add a new intake and exhaust. Maybe a set of wheels, though I do like what Honda put on it from the factory.

That right there is a sign you bought the right car and you know you can overlook any little annoyances that might surface (rattles, leaky top, etc.). I know the feeling what it's like to walk away from your vehicle with a smile on your face, I do it daily.

Congrats on the purchase, car looks really sharp. I would get that dealer badge off the back though.
 
Yeah, the dealer badge is going to come off, though I have not really put too much thought into how I am going to do it. I was thinking of using a heat gun to loosen it up, but was not too sure that was a good idea.

Fishing line works real well.
 
Vash, I have to ask if you've properly checked the title on this car etc...

Look at the hood fit. Either it's an accident car repaired by a shoddy bodyshop or someone at Honda was very, very lazy, or being spiteful.

Just run it under the badge I presume?

Yup, wrap it around both pointer fingers and slower run it back and forth under the badge. It cuts through the glue but since it's plastic it won't damage the paint. Be careful not to cut the circulation off in your fingers though. There might be some glue left behind which can be take care of by rubbing it with your finger...do not use Goo Gone as it will melt the paint. If that still isn't working try bug and tar removed and test it in a spot where no one will ever see. This is how I got the badges off the Blazer, it takes some time and you have to be really patient.
 
Melt the paint? really? I've used goo gone a number of times on cars with no problems... weird.

Exactly! It is just the angle the picture is taken at . . . a very terrible angle! The hood looks to be all of wack in the first picture and like something is wrong. Check out the second picture and you can somewhat see the hood lining up properly.

I may see if I can borrow my sister's camera and take the car out to somewhere a bit more scenic . . . though I am not too sure where that would be. Or at the very least take a few more pictures of the car. Too bad none of the great GTP photographers are in the area! :P

And the S2000 is now dealer debadged! I used fishing line and it worked great. I had to use a bit of stuff my dad uses to put grips on his golf clubs to get the glue left behind off; but I then quickly cleaned that off with some water and laid some wax down over the spot where the badge was previously.

make sure you keep wax on the mirrors. I used to have a red s2000 and the mirrors faded like crazy after some time out in the sun. I remember going up to my car in a parking lot and an older gentleman in a mercedes pulled up and parked next to me. Turned out he also owned a red s2000 (left it at home) and mentioned how his was doing the same thing on the mirrors and it was only a year or two old.

One of few cars I'd consider having over mine own car. But it that feeling you get driving a car of this nature is just amazing.

And you should consider looking for an Autocross events. Even if you don't plan on doing them much, it is a great place to get to learn your car at its limits. And just plan fun.
 
First, thanks! đź‘Ť I enjoyed the GIF.

Secondly, I try to adopt the top always down philosophy as much as possible. I have likely only spent around 75 miles with the top up; I have had to drive to work a few days with the top up because of rain. With that said, the huge blind spot over your left shoulder when driving with the top up is a bit disconcerting. You have to be very careful when trying to change lanes to the left (if you stay in the left lane the whole time, then it is not a problem). :lol:

Lastly, I would definitely like to go to an autocross event. I am sure it would be a blast.
 
Also, if you tend to randomly give girls rides, like any good guy, keep like hair tie or some crap in the car or they will not be thrilled.

And the blind stop in a small convertible with the top up is insane. I don't like to back up with the top up because it feels like I can't see anything.

^ I got mine 2 1/2 months ago, but the reason for me to sacrifice my wagon was uneventful. The cause was the transmission (i.e. Sychros) of most non-STi's tend to break with slight modifications done to the car, and take note, this was my 2nd Subie ('04 & '06). And I said 'screw it' and decided to get the best car I've ever driven, the S2000. I got my 'Silvie' at USD $17K w/ 47.4K mi., I love my car so much, now it has 54K mi. :D

Nothing right now. I have no money to do any modifications to it. If I did though, I would likely just add a new intake and exhaust. Maybe a set of wheels, though I do like what Honda put on it from the factory.

-> For now, I have little or no plans to mod up my car. The car is perfect as it is, the only thing that I need to put on is mostly asthetics like lower seat rails, seat locks, and a test pipe:

- I need the seat rails because I'm 6'3 and I look like big bird on my S. :lol:
- I need seat lock because I got the rare seats, the red/black combination. :nervous:
- And a test pipe for that annoying drone from my invidia. ;)

-> If you're looking for an exhaust, I recommend this.

That is what I experienced with my WRX before, I had to drive crazy fast just to squeeze every drop of fun from the car. The S doesn't do that, even in normal speed limit type driving is more fun, what else if you go to a nice 30 mph s-corners thru the mountain at 70 mph. With the S, you don't have to go fast just to have fun. đź‘Ť

I really wanted the red/black interior color combination for my car. I have always liked how it is different from just about anything on the road. With that said, I am really pleased with the black.

I will definitely keep that exhaust in mind if I do ever get around to getting one.

I have had much of the same observations with the S2k. Just normal driving is more fun. I think part of it has to do with it being a convertible. I absolutely love the top down motoring; I never imagined it being so much fun to always have the top down.

Me neither! But I have not really tried either.
