What have you done to your car today?

I sent the car up a snow bank and bent the front plate. A friend sent the car up another snow bank and bent the rocker. Then I went sideways at 50 mph with a broken clutch, and the clutch slipped all the way home (140 miles or so). Good times :)

fixed the seatbelt retractors, and stuck on the new sail panels with some velcro patches
still waiting for the headlights to come through
sort out the fog light and have a good look underneath and it could be on the road soon!
when it stops snowing...the smart people are staying in while the tards in their immitation 4x4s are busy driving too fast and crashing

nice :D
i havnt even bothered driving in this weather, my driveways an ice rink as it is
got some more bits today, a decent chiltons manual, and headlights at last :D
the headlights i got for the Firebird were from an AW11 MR2 :scared: (as i say that countless purists from both sides fall off their chairs) a good thing to note for all those with 80s/90s flip up lights is that the majority fit each other :D i could have gone for 240SX or maybe some Supra lights but i wasnt too concerned on being jdm tyte y0 :sly:

Like half of all people here fail to get the shocker until I explain them it.. :)

Today I removed the studs from some studded snow tires..

Got my car back today. Loving the exhaust. The car seems to pull harder throughout the rev range, but I'm sure some of that is the placebo effect. Best part is that it's only 3.7 decibels louder than standard, and more that 3.3 dB off the legal limit. Sweet!

I took off the Valve Cover from the KA24e and put it back on because I think I lacked the right tools for the job.

Not so much doing, but more seeing-what-needs-to-be-done (and bought....)

I got that stereo I made working in my car with a positive and negative straight from the battery. The positive runs through a fuse then a switch on the inside to make sure I don't drain my battery.

About to jack it up and get the bolts ready to come off of the A-Pipe & Converter.

Dammit! Just looked through my package, and noticed no gaskets! Might have to hold off. :ouch:

Make sure you soak the bolts in a can of this:

PB Blaster absolutely owns for eating through rusty bolts to loosen then up. And then, when you put the bolts back on remember to coat the threads in some anti-seize.

That way you'll be able to get it back off again if you ever need to.

I'll be picking up some of that anti-seize later tonight. I went to Jotech to see if they had the gaskets, and psh, they rarely work on TL's, so they'd have to custom make them for me. Luckily, R-V6 is just sending me a new set.

Getting ready to pump up the tire on the celica and see where it's leaking from, prolly just a rim leak. Then just charge that battery and she'll be back on the road.

It's alive!!! Took forever to jump the freaking thing. Drove around for about five minutes, then while I was rolling I turned it off and tried to start it and it wouldn't, had to pop start it. I'd say it's about time for a new battery.

I haven't driven it in about a month and I kinda miss the car, feels like a race car compared to the all-trac camry.

That sounds more like a dead alternator to me.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but if the alternator was bad then I shouldn't be able to drive long with all my accessories on, headlights and fogs on as well right? Although the more I think about it, that just may be it, I could just have a weak alternator, but not completely bad if thats possible. For instance, when I push the brakes my lights will dim, or if I turn the heater on they will also dim for a bit then brighten. Also, the car idles a little erratically, and my lights will dim and brighten along with the rpms.

BTW, another 5 minutes of driving managed to charge it enough to start on it's own.

Also, I will just move this question here https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=3299629&posted=1#post3299629 post 133

Turned my key this morning...

"NyuuuNyuuuNyuuuuuuuCLICK-CLICK-CLICK-CLICK"

Damn battery is flat. Combination of the cold, a battery which doesn't seem to hold much of a charge, and quite a few short journeys recently with lights and heater on are probably to blame :indiff: It's been taking longer to turn over recently in the cold we've been having so I should have expected it to be honest. Anyway, the lovely AA man is on his way soon with a charger. Then I'll probably need to drive around a bit as per the discussion above, whilst trying not to run out of fuel as I think I probably only have a litre or so left. And before anyone says, no, I'm not out of fuel!

I need me a vehicle that actually works.

Well nothing has been done to my car, but I got this through the post today;

Guess where I'll be tomorrow? :D

That sounds more like a dead alternator to me.

He had to jump it to get it to start in the first place; good alternator or not, a 5 minute drive is NOT going to throw enough juice back into a dead battery to restart a car.
I think I agree with you, Rotary Junkie. About a week ago a killed my battery completely and only charged it long enough to start it with the charger on--between 5 and 10 minutes. For the last week my battery has only been charged enough to barely start my engine. My longest drives have been 10 minutes back and forth to McDonald's basically and that's been just enough to keep the battery at the same level in these <20 degree temps this week.

Yes, I know leaving a battery at a low charge is really hard on it; I just charged it fully last night. I've killed that thing probably 10 times since I've had the car.

Replace enough batteries, and you'll start having fun with it. Did mine a week or so ago, did my brothers not long before that, and I'm occasionally fearful that I'll have to do the battery dance with the Grand Prix... But thats holding up pretty well.

My stuff?

As the weather warms up, I'm going to need to lubricate my automatic radio antenna. It won't go all the way up on its own, so I'm having to move it myself. Annoying, yes, but I'm surviving.
