GTP_WRS Week 99 : Caught Doing 99 in a 40

I'd like to ask if it would be allowed to increase the weight of the car in order to make it a bit more stable tho probably a lot slower. I'm not getting any clean laps at all, even when trying to be really slow. Perhaps some extra weight on the back axis might keep it on the track?

Even tried using ASM but that sort of disables the brakes ?!?!?!

If you are not using the tld (paulie tune) I suggest you go for that. It's a 5 speed tune, and you only really need 2,3 and 4 for most of the track.
If you commit to a corner and fully come off the throttle, expect to end up facing where you came from. And as with most of these super aggressive cars, only plant the throttle when you are facing straight ahead.

Looks like the fetchbot has given spyrrari and CT the same split times.

My new splits:
T1: 18.331
T2: 47.918

I'm really liking my setup.

Indeed it does.

I think I could take off 2-3 tenths just in 100r alone. I haven't got through there without sliding yet.

As it says

Performance Points: Up to Maximum PP (860)

Then I would say yes Steven, unless Kevin ment it to be a fixed PP at 860.

Phillip.

Vehicle Specifics

Power: 690 HP (+13)
Weight: 990 kg (85%)
Driving Aids: Optional
Transmission: Optional
Aero: Optional
Tyre Type: R3's
Performance Points: Up to Maximum PP (860)

It states the vehicle has to weigh 990kg, so 990 kg it is.

Got some slightly slower splits but better line time

T1: 18.129
T2: 46.715

There is more time to be had. Had a .684 T2 and managed to bin it :ouch:

Eerrrmmmm

The fetchbot has, for reasons unknown, changed my splits and moved me from 10th place to 5th????

In one of your previous posts, you quoted adam95 and his times, its put them in as your own. Probably either best to repost your current fastest time or edit those times out.

Cheers guys.

Re-posting times to help fetchbot

18.489
47.781

Edit: I also edited out the times in my quoted post to help rectify the situation.

Is it a bit of a no-no to include other members times when quoting a post? If it is then, sorry for screwing things up.

Hi guys,

It's been absolutely ages since I last took a spin in this car, and I'd forgotten what a complete beast this is!! Massive lift-off oversteer, power oversteer, complete loss of control if you so much as look at the curbs...all comes at you in a really 'In your face' manner...I love it

Anyway, first splits,

18.234
47.178

Really enjoying getting a Ford GT totally out of shape, so I'm off for another session... 👍

After another 40 or so laps, both my splits are slower and I'm only 0.7 secs quicker over the line :banghead:

Should I be hugging the inside of 100R, or taking a more classic out-in-out? Or something else altogether? Generally I'm easing towards the inside from the middle of the track then letting the car out wide for the exit. Should I take it easy on the way into the 2nd turn (blind left-hander, currently apexing between 95 and 100mph) to give myself more time to position the car?

I've taken the advice of not going in loaded up and it works, but if I keep a decent line I'm always going really slow, or struggling to then get back over to the right for the hairpin. And that all assumes I don't spin out. I'd be thoroughly grateful if someone point me in the right direction :ill:

Try hugging the inside for 100R. Run out towards the middle of the track on exit then getting far right for the tight left. I tend to brake a touch early and "roll" the car through the corner more then giving it gas.

I just took a large chunk off my time...
T1: 18.590
T2: 47.992

T3: Needs improvement :D
Thanks CT!

First splits:

T1: 18.563
T2: 48.917

I ran those splits the other day, with Paulies tune, today i could not get past 100r, mabye iill try again later tonight

New Splits

T1: 18.485
T2: 48.455

Re-entered some splits so that those of DC9990 and Adam95 are now correct.
In the case of DHandes and Porsche, their T2's are exactly the same (check posts 43 and 64) so there is nothing wrong there.

I hope Joost will find the time to look into this. In the mean time it might be a good idea to indeed not make quotes including other member's splits.

Withdrawl, lack of time to continue
Took the liberty to remove your splits from the leaderboard as you will obviously not be submitting your lap.

EDIT worked on my setup with a little help from my friends :) and finally managed to do some clean laps without adding weight but still with AT and some TCS ...

18.908
49.327

Thanks for the help Philip 👍

EDITEDIT breaking news :D switched to MT and TCS=0. Not using first gear means everything this week (to me anyways) since it can take away most of the oversteer. First tried with weight at 90% but then back to 85% and got a lap with

18.688
48.614

The sound of that V8 in its 2nd gear low revs is fantastic! If Philip allows I'll post his great settings

Well done Steven just got out of bed again and read your post and email 👍

It's not a fast tune but very forgiving which should allow you to concentrate more on your line and driving than trying to keep the dame thing in a straight line.

Again great to see your times coming down, stick with you'll be knocking on the door of the 47.XXX :scared:

Yes sure you may post it if you think it may help others that are struggerling, did the tuning the last few days, but I may only put in a token effort this week, you know why and I dont want to mess up my attendance.

Phillip.

Never really done one of these before. Mainly because I am terrible at TT stuff, but I figured what the heck. I might as well try and get into some of these before GT5P is behind us.

Gave it about 20 laps last night. After getting my brain and feet on the same page, I managed a few clean laps. Not very good times, but I guess you have to start somewhere. :)

T1 - 18.391
T2 - 47.756

I guess T3 really can make the difference with Fuji, and especially this car. Managed to get through 100R without sliding but my splits aren't improved.

Guys, I just deleted all splits I had posted. I hope fetchbot will follow suit.

Normally I'm at the back battling for last place in div 3, but this week I shot right to the top. So there I was feeling pretty good about myself, but still I had something gnawing at the back of my mind. A sneeky suspicion that I overlooked something.

Tonight I found out that that suspicion was indeed correct. It seems there's an intermediate online event at Fuji as well, and as you can all guess I've been running that :ouch::ouch:. The physics there are set at Standard which explains my suddenly found speed. :indiff: :indiff: Part of me is truly gutted off course, but the suspicious part of me knew it all along and is glad I found out now.

So, if fetchbot didn't allready do so, please take my splits off the board. My sincere apologies to all of you for misleading you with what turned out to be illegal splits. I hope you won't hold it against me. I truly didn't know at the time.

I'm facing a bit of an uphill battle now. I'm off to the track with what will no doubt be a far less agreeable car. I hope I can still make something out of all this... :indiff:

Atleast you man enough to admit your mistake 👍 Now jump back in and get going ;)

Well humans make mistakes and you didn't do it deliberately. You correct your mistake before the end of the event. So i don't see no problem with it.

Like CT said, jump back in and get going.

And thanks for giving me the second place in div 3 :sly: hope i can keep it

Updated splits, about 0.2 down on T1...cant seem to replicate yesterdays T1...but slowly but surely improving on T2...T3 greatly improving...100R still looks like the corner killing me :(

T1: 18.471
T2: 47.918

Thanks crazytortise for the advice, it seems to work better, but practice is not making perfect for me this week. I've brought all my braking and turning super-early, tried to make everything super-smooth (as best as I can manage without a 900deg wheel), and followed every bit of advice kindly provided here. And still I am battling with all my might to find even a tenth at the moment, leaving me several miles behind everyone else. I set myself a really, really slow T2 target time, and have missed it by 0.003 :banghead:. The most frustrating part? I set a time on a two-lap mess-around on Sunday night that has taken me over 200-odd laps to beat.

 to the guys/gals in front, your skills are stratospheric in comparison.

Regards,
Captain Slow

T1 0'18.773
T2 0'49.003

My first and maybe my last splits. Have been really struggeling with this one, also the leaderboard got me all mixed up and confused this week lol.

T1: 18.330
T2: 47.303

At the line there is atleast 0.2sec left, but I doubt that I will catch it.
