Nice! Can't wait to try the Supra RZ tune! I've been wanting this car so bad, but it totally disappointed me when I first drove it. It feels completely different than the MK4 Supras of previous GT's.

Glad to help! This car takes some time to get used too, every time I use it I get faster and faster with it. As I said, watch your speed, as a lot of times I'm going faster than I thought I was and over shot the corner. At first I thought it's brakes were messed up but you try stopping a 1300KG car going 150 in about 5 yards!

God Hands S2000
The only person to have beaten Tak, or at least that's what Tak will tell you. God Hand is a Doctor in the day time and a crazy good driver by night. God Hand is the master of the one hand steer, a technique that requires complete control and focus. This car represents that as it doesn't take fools lightly. If you can figure out the proper racing lines for this car it will lead every race you put her in. Even though this tune is for sports Hard, it still works wonders for sports soft. We a Trivial Tunes tried to make a Carbon copy of God Foots car, and I think it has worked.

God Foots GT-R

God Foot's GT-R R34 is a legend, and rightly so. His accelerator control is nearly unmatched, and he is one of the only people capable of drifting the GT-R. God Foot takes on after his car, as it's a bit over weight. I've cut the R34's weight down by quite a bit, giving the car a respectable weight for a sports car. And then we did so simple engine mods to perk the engine response, and dropped the car down by about a half a minute. Now anybody can drift this car, but it's still controllable and very easy to drive. Can you drive like God Foot? Try this tune out and see.

This little econo car is not well known over in the US, as it never was sold over here. Being the predecessor to the Yaris, this car had a distinct roll to fill here. When I first saw it, it was an under powered understeering sort of car. Well I couldn't stand that one bit. So I tuned the engine, and threw in a Supercharger for good measure, put in a new exhaust system, and a new intake system. And then I turned my eye to the suspension. This car has been lowered and tightened up, along with some camber use, and even toe! Add in some body lighting and you've got yourself a FF econo box that can embarrass some of the top sports cars at 450 PP!

Altezza G Limited
This Altezza has been tuned for street racing. I've tried to tune it to the levels that my Initial D cars are running at and i think I have done it. This car is really quick, and revs quickly and quite high, the fuel cut off is at 9000RPM! This Altezza can keep up with the White Comet and Phantom AE86, so long as the driver is half way decent. At 450PP this car is a definite killer. I call this car the G Limited because that was the name given to the MR2 NA, and as this car sports no FI systems I thought it was a good name. maybe Trivial Tunes will do a GT-S model in near future, but on the UCD knows what i can and can't do.

Yaris RS Turbo (J) '02

I've got some decent Superminis in my garage, properly quick little motors. It's been a while since the chaps and I have raced them. However, in a conversation with my good man at Trivial Tunes, we got around to talking about this often over looked yet much loved group of cars. Living in the UK, I know these cars can really embarrass much more powerful cars. There's rarely room on our crappy roads to make use of much more than 6 cylinders.

Within a short space of time I got a call about this Yaris Turbo build. I was all ears. Initially I was a little surprised that it didn’t come equipped with full customisable suspension. Previous cars and builds that I’ve tried seem to rely highly on keeping the car as planted as possible, in order to apply what is usually limited power. And speaking of limited power, in order to keep this car within our collective’s agreed restrictions, I left the High RPM Turbo off, and stuck with the stock turbo. I also used the power limiter to keep the power to 207BHP. Other than that, I used this car straight out of the box.

Whilst I’ve not driven this car online or in anger yet, I did take it straight to my Supermini proving ground. Cape Ring Inside. Except, I wasn’t paying attention whilst mashing the buttons. In my haste I’d accidently loaded up Cape Ring South, one of my proving grounds for Hot Hatches. Whoops. This was the track I tested RKMs Volvo C30 and my version of the Focus ST and Citroën C4, both adapted from the same Volvo build. At the time, all these Hatches were running on Sport Hard tyres, and were limited to 355BHP and 1000kg. Once I’d realised my mistake, I was afraid for the Yaris. I very nearly hit exit and bailed. Glad I didn’t though.

Discounting my top 3 posted times on this track, which were done on Sport Softs, my top 7 quickest times around here are as follows.

4th – 1:25.829 Impreza WRK STI ‘07
5th – 1:25.958 Focus ST ‘06
6th – 1:26.157 Golf R32 ‘03
7th – 1:26.390 Vitz RS Turbo ‘02
8th – 1:26.401 A3 Quattro ‘03
9th – 1:26.433 C30 R-Design ‘09
10th 1:26.497 Focus ST ‘06

Not bad little Yaris, not bad at all. Once I’d gotten over the balls up, I carried on driving and driving and driving. This little car is brilliant, and proves that you don’t need to get lost in the complexities of fully customisable suspension. The combination of lightweight and simple suspension saw this car fly around Cape Ring. I only needed a small amount of lift-off through bend 2, a decent bit of braking for bend 6 & 7 combo and obviously the hairpins. On the long right-hander between the last two hairpins I was able to keep my foot in for the entirety of the curve and didn’t need to touch the brakes until I was at the apex of the last little right-hander before the final hairpin. Truly chuckle-tastic. This car turns in sweetly, applies a good amount of power and grip through bends and only exhibits a small amount of wheel-spin out of hard accelerating corners. In my experience, there’s not a lot you can do about that in FWD cars. It also rides curbs reasonably well and doesn’t become unsettled, like other cars I’ve tried around here. My only problem with the car, and it’s of my own doing, is that without the High RPM Turbo, take up is a tad slow and it does require a decent straight bit to build some speed. My fault though.

I’ll take this little monster to the right track soon, and come back with some times against comparable cars. Please, please keep building cars like this. There are many among us here who thoroughly enjoy racing these pocket rockets…

Big thanks for the review! That little Yaris is still one of my favorite builds, and one of my best FFs. People don't expect much out of this car, but she'll deliver if you only ask. With the Turbo I bet you'll beat those other lap times! I'm working on a full custom for the Yaris, because I've found that a little rear toe out can improve turn in without destroying your tires. At least with an FF.

I've got a quick tune sheet for transmissions, it's from oppositelock if your interested. It's giving me values of:
1st 3.229
2nd 2.191
3rd 1.628
4th 1.259
5th 1.000
6th 0.813
Final :4.637

I also have an Toyota bB 1.5 X '00 that I'll tune up, and a Sera '92 that's in the works. Should be fun!

After tuning 3 different MR2 '97's I wanted to return to my '86s. But when I drove them, I found that my driving style had changed, and these tunes weren't up to par. So Starting today and going though tomorrow, and maybe into Wednesday I will be updating all tunes that I feel need it. I've started today with my two MR2 '86 tunes. They now can keep within 0.2 seconds of the '97 models and are dead even with the MRS when tuned to 450PP. Tomorrow I'll take a look at both Supra tunes, and take a look at my little Yaris.

I was just looking at your '86 tune. Looks like you switched to front biased brakes. Good choice :)

You didn't list toe though, and I see your camber has a negative value.

Front: 0.0

Isn't camber only positive values in this game?

I dislike toe, and try not to to use it in my RWD cars, so toe is set to zero on both front and rear. I should probably go in and include that in the set up description shouldn't I. I was under the impression that all camber was negative, even though when your adjusting it in game it list positive. IRL there is no reason to use positive camber, as your loosing both your straight line traction and traction though the corners.

Well, I think it is best to report numbers as you would enter them into the tuning boxes...as to not confuse people.

I dislike toe, and try not to to use it in my RWD cars
I suppose there are other ways of dialing out oversteer/understeer but I find toe very useful. You can get more grip from the inside turning tire by using negative front toe. A little bit of positive rear toe goes a long way in stabilizing the car. I usually run 0.10-0.20 rear toe.

IRL there is no reason to use positive camber
That depends on whether you consider NASCAR real life. They run postive on the inside tires and negative on the outside. It keeps the contact patch flat when weight is transferred off the inside tire. Since they are only turning LEFT, it is a special case.

I do see what you mean about confusion, it's something I had not thought about, should help out this little thread. So I thank you. Toe increases tire wear, which is the main reason I don't use it. I have been playing around with toe on non drive wheels, and have found a few good results, but I don't like it on the MR2's.

And the only good thing about NASCAR is they'll always make the left hander at Albuquerque. In all seriousness I only watch their road course races, as their actually pretty nice tracks.

I like the short tracks and the road courses. I try to catch Martinsville, Bristol, and Watkins-glenn. I live in NH so I typically attend the first race at Louden because its only 45 minutes away. Not going this year though because we just bought a house and the tickets are expensive.

Yeah prices are getting pretty bad, my uncle is a big fan, and can't go this year for the same reason. I've actually been to the Bristol race once, and I have to say it's completely different when you actually there. I can't explain why I liked it, but I really did and had a lot of fun.

First Born
This is the car that spawned legends. From this car would come three Rally Champions, and it was here were the Supra originated. When Trivial Tunes found this in the UCD we couldn't leave here there to disappear. So we bought her, and then we tuned her so that she could compete once again. Tuned to 450pp this car will surprise you, she's fast. What we've got here
is a front engined rear wheel drive MR2! Her power band fits right in between that of the MR2 Supercharged and the G 1600, and even though she sports tiny tires, you'll find that grip is no problem here! For a car from the 70s she handles well and looks like the Japanese version of the American Muscle cars! This car just want to eat the turns, one by one, until there are none left. If your looking for a good car from the 70s from Japan, look no further.

All Natural Woman

This is the JDM version of the non turbo MK2 MR2, the US (and I think the EU version too) got the 2.2 (same engine they put in the base Camry...of which I have), where as the Japanese version got the 3S-GE which produced 200hp stock. Trivial tuned up the engine the old fashioned way, with new cams, pistons, balanced crank, milled head and block, and bored, and sleeved the cylinders. Then we completely re-did the exhaust and intake to make it as free flowing as possible. I didn't do any body lighting because that would make the rear bias weight distrobution even worse, so it's on to the suspension, I started of with the GTS's set up but that wasn't enough as the built NA just wanted to wag it's tail everywhere she went, but Trivial tunes has taught her some manners, and she listen to want you want, for the most part.Even without the FI systems she'll keep up, and run identical times as her forced induction reliant sisters.

Supermodel

This car is actually quite rare, as not many people would supercharge an engine that has turbo's readily available. But we at Trivial Tunes wanted to do one car, three ways and this was the perfect chance. This car is in the middle of the road as far as the other to go. It's got more horsepower, less torque, and less control than the GTS, but less horsepower, more torque, and more control than the NA build. This car kept its stock weight, but a new intake system, and we ripped out the worthless catalytic converter. Along with the Supercharger these mods made this car quite a beast. It's suspension was based off of the GTS, and this time it worked for the most part, and after a few tweaks this car will post lap times matching those of it's sister cars.

The Dream
This is the car I've been looking for in real life with no avail. Even though the MR2 had gained some weight during it's second run, it had also gain the 3S-GTE, Toyota's most power four cylinder engine ever. For the price there is really no other car that can even compare to this mini Ferrari, so when I finally found her in the UCD I snatched her right up. With a new exhaust and air filter her power shot up to 266, so I kept her weight stock. The suspension was put back the way it was in the early 90s, for in 93 Toyota re tuned the suspension for lesser drivers. Now this car is back in street racing prime and ready to thrash anything you can give her. She has the most control out of all three MK2 MR2 builds, but also weights the most and has the least power. In the end she'll run identical laps as the G Limited, both NA and Supercharged, so the choice is up to you on which fine Japanese woman you want to take to the track.

Keep seeing some of these MR2 in the UCD (think I may have passed up the opportunity to buy a GTS too ). I'm gonna hafta buy and try some of them. They were popular back in the day in the UK, but the miserable climate wasn't kind to them...

Yeah, same here. All the ones over here are rusted or wrecked, or worse the NA:yuck:. In real life the most you can get out of the 2.2 5SFE is 170.... I had a chance to a GTS (known as a MR2 Turbo over here, no class at all) but it had been hit in the rear and needed a new back end.:ouch:

I'll be doing a review on the 3 when I've got the time!

I own a 90's GT-S. haha... love that car.

I'll be doing a review on the 3 when I've got the time!

I own a 90's GT-S. haha... love that car.

Very cool! These cars require a delicate touch, if your rough with them they will bite you, hard. Every time I come back to these cars I take a slow lap to get used to the car, and then gun it. Otherwise the car might try to kill you, and put a bad taste in your mouth. Once you get used to one of the cars you're used to all of them, I tried to get them all equal.

And about your GT-S....you lucky dog! Bet you love the back road twisties!

So, as the PSN seems to be down today, I thought I'd troll the UCD and see if I could find any of these MR2s. I found two (actually I found more, but anyway), first out of the bag is the MR2 G Limited 97 (SC). As per the above, we only have Practise Mode to test in, so straight to it.

Regrettably, I neglected to take either of these cars out in their stock states. I did however compare them in their upgraded states, with stock and applied settings. Trial Mountain is our track for the day. The car has arrived, painted in a rather dashing Dark Purple Mica. Sitting high, I took it straight to the track, parts installed but default settings. I eased the car through the start/finish chicane, partly due to unfamiliarity with the car, partly habit. I spend a lot of time racing online, and you don't gun it through here on cold tyres..!! Anyway, crossing the line wide to the right, I get ready to haul on the anchors and turn in for the apex. The car lurches in a rather ungainly fashion, I can feel the rear wanting to step out. I lift slightly and head up the small rise looking for the next apex. Not quite flat out, the car dissects the apex nicely, crests the hill and dives heavily into the next corner. A dab on the brakes before entering and I can feel the rear starting to break again. The tiniest of lifts brings it all back under control. I'm still not pushing hard, as I know the car won't be at its best.

Through the tunnel, over the crest and into the next hard right, the car wallows about, but is reasonably controllable if you're easy with the loud pedal. As I found out on the sweeping right-hander up to the second tunnel. All of a sudden, thinking I'm through the worst of this first tricky section, I'm watching the rear of the car trying to overtake the front. I thought I had the line, my nose was tucked in, and I’d eased past the apex and was on the way out. Now I'm trying to control an argument between the front and the rear of the car. An argument centred around who’s the fastest and who's gonna lead the way. For the rest of the lap, and pretty much the rest of the time I drove this car like this, I felt like a parent stuck between squabbling children.

I expected the rear to dominate how this car felt, and boy does it with default settings. With some fine feathering of the throttle, I was able to enjoy a few laps eventually. If you're after a bit of waahey-tail-out action, this is you're car. Not particularly great for a fast lap though.

Time: 1:39.832

Trivial settings applied, let’s get back to the track and try again. Immediately the difference is evident. The rear has been tamed, rather than being locked in a bitter dispute, it’s now reached an amicable agreement with the front of the car. Whereas before I'd struggle and fight all the way through a corner, now the car is able to pull me back onto the line. Sometimes from a long way off that line too. There's a broad plateau of leeway with this car, you can push it a good distance before it pushes back. It’s still able to light the rears up if you go in too hot, or try to get on it unreasonably early. Carry too much speed and it'll also understeer out of fast corners. Just because this car will operate outside ideal parameters, doesn't mean you should. Treat it well and you'll be rewarded with respectable laptimes.

I hope the PSN gets sorted soon. I've half a mind to take this bad boy online and embarrass some of my mates. Mates that are running cars with a lot more power than this one. Overall, and without being able to test online, I'd rate this car highly. Stable, nimble and applies its power well.

Laptime: 1:36.413

===================================

MR2 1600 G.

The same as before, I applied all the parts, but otherwise I left everything else as default. The fetching New Sherwood Toning coloured MR2 squawks on to the track with much glee and abandonment. Quite unlike the unhurried and unfussy way the '97 MR2 went about things, this '86 version is all crackle. As I turn into the start/finish chicane, I know I'm gong to prefer this pocket rocket.

Well, as listed in the original build doc for this car, it really does handle tremendously well with default settings. In fact it's only 1.5 sec off the '97's final time. Splendorous joy at this discovery to one side, I did begin to wonder quite what the chaps at Trivial were going to do about this.

Laptime: 1:37.918 (yep...)

Trivial settings applied, you know what's next. Heritage shows through, whilst these two cars have been built differently, and come from different decades, a broadly similar approach seems to have worked. Whilst the '86 was a fine ride with parts applied, now it's focused. Now it applies a little more effort on getting around the track, rather than shouting at everything it sees, like some demented terrier. It turns in very nicely, holds its line and pushes strongly out of corners. On some of the bumpier corners, it'll skate a tad, but it doesn't shred tyres and you'll grow to enjoy it very quickly.

Trivial have done a decent job with what was already a stonking little motor. Applying their methods, the car drives superbly.

===================================

I could have taken both these cars faster. As I only have Practise Mode available to me at the moment, I was driving conservatively for the course. There's good time to be made up here, when you don't have to worry about clipping a curb by a fraction too much. On Race Night, I suspect both these motors will prove properly entertaining.

Whilst they are a little chalk & cheese, they've been dealt with in a similar fashion, and as the posted times reflect, they both do what I believe is a bloody good job. They'll keep pace with some 500+pp cars I have. Double thumbs up 👍👍

Thanks for the great dual reviews Cykosis1973! Your actually making better times than I've managed lol, but I'm not the best of drivers! I'm glad you liked both of the cars, and I hope you can give you mates a good thrashing!

Cole's (or Kouichiro Iketani) S13 is his baby, so when he wreaked it, he knew he would have to make up to his car somehow. So after he got the body all patched up, he had Trivial Tunes install some mods to his sweetheart. Because he was running on a budget we steered clear of the power mods, as he already had some installed. Instead we attacked the drive train and suspension. We made his car more responsive to gear changes, throttle position and braking. We make large changes to his LSD, and even lightly tuned his suspension to get the best turning radius while staying stable. If Cole can improve his driving skills this S13 will be a thing to fear!

I've only seen the TRD one once, I spend a fair bit of time cycling days using the Licence trick, I've seen the vanilla version a couple of times. Glad to hear that there's an option for the Supercharger, I use it on a couple of other cars as it gives nice smooth power. I'm learning to buy more than one of a car when I see it..!! If I see any more, I'll grab them.

I'll be more than interested to see your Yaris build, we've done Super Minis, but I'm looking to revisit them with Sport Soft tyres (we ran them on Comfort Softs ). Can you build one that capped at 200bhp, under 1000kg and running on Sport Softs..??

In fact, anything FWD you can build to the following, and I'll try them out and report right back. I've a few cars in mind, in particular the Honda Accord. I've two of them, and I'd be happy to loan one to you for testing.

Thanks once again...

Check out a max modified Daihatsu Copen '02 from the NCD. 202 bhp, 144 torque. Surprise everyone driving "real" cars  BTW I'm looking for a tune to get maximum performance out of the Copen.

I'll see what I can do for your Copen, I've found that I'm really liking a good FWD car. I'll post the Celica tunes up on Tuesday, and I think you'll find yourself very happy.

I've got one, very nice little car. I was using it for the Kei Car Seasonal Event, until I found the Suzuki CERVO. You can sub 60 sec the Eifel 104A course on S3 tyres with this build.

Keep your eye out for Trivial's forthcoming Celica builds...
