My What?
Formerly known as Mac K's Race Shop, this tuning garage has been reinvented and re-opened. Now partnered with stock vs tuned owner and GTP regular MOTORTRENDMITCH, and under a new name Apex:The Joy of Driving and Racing. Our goal is simple, extract the most out of every car we tune, but don't overdue it like most other tuners do, 99 percent of our cars won't be fully upgraded and instead will focus on making the car handle much better or be much more fun to drive. We'll tune everything from a Leaf to a Mclaren F1.

This was never intended to be a balls to the wall track monster, so its more suited to tracks like the Nurburgring. Its a blast in online rooms for under 450PP and has 4WD so it will accelerate quite well. Enjoy:drool:

I tuned this car specially for a GT Planet race, the 24 minutes of the Nurburgring, so its setup to Class 2 standards for that races, the suspension was custom tuned by myself. Although not important, I managed to win my class using this car in the race. Enjoy:dopey:

Known as the "Red Neck Sportscar" the Iroc Z has always seemed to have taken a back seat in the sports car class.. constantly being mocked by Mustangs, Imprezas, Evos, and even its own Camaro brethren, but all that is about to change. Now obviously 260 horsepower isn't a lot, especially for a sportscar with a V8, but thats the beauty of it, much like the Lancia I tuned, this is suited to races restricted to under 450 PP, I suggest you brake a little earlier than normal when coming into a corner, although it brakes ands corners quite well in my opinion, its still an 80s muscle car, so don't expect it to be perfect. Enjoy:dopey:

I like how you're not using every part available. Are you building to a budget or is it a personal preference thing? Whatever it is, it's unique and I like it. :D:tup:

Thanks, I appreciate it, I'm actually doing both, at least for the lower PP cars(under 550 PP)

Ahh the Pontiac GTO, an icon in the muscle car world, the newest generation sadly never caught on as well the original did, but that doesn't make it bad car. Although its badged as a Pontiac, this is actually a Holden Monaro, a popular car from Australia. This car handles quite well for a muscle car, but don't expect Ferrari like handling, it still handles well and accerlates quickly, it can beat a lot of Camaros, Mustangs, Challengers, M3s, Evos, and Imprezas, and maybe even the odd Corvette and Viper. Enjoy:dopey: *Not quite sure, but this setup might also work on the Holden Monaro, since their basically the same car*

Like the tunes and the pictures. Keep up the good work. Can't wait until this bloody FF Shootout is wrapped up and I have time to actually try a few of them out! Especially interested in the Lancia, and the Camaro.

Wonder if you've thought about a lightly touched up Buick GNX?

Thanks! I've been thinking about a GNX tune actually :P

Thanks! I've been thinking about a GNX tune actually :P

I did a full modified one up to grind in the Supercar Eifel with. Haven't posted it yet.

Got two or three more in the garage and would like to see a lightly tuned up version, maybe on sport suspension and a little engine tune say engine mod stage 1&2 an ECU and the sports intake systems. Put it on sports mediums or softs.
Not sure what the base PP is but think you could build it like that at around 450-500 PP. Maybe a little less.
Base without engine rebuild or oil change is 418-419 PP. I have two extras currently so if you want one...

Just a suggestion for when your thread gets bigger; it'll be easier to locate tunes if you put links in the original post.

I haven't had the chance to try any of your tunes yet, but I am pretty excited to see the IROC in there. I've been meaning to take that car for a spin!

Yup, I was planning on it, thank you though., just want to let everyone know the GNX has just finished testing and has been fine tuned and I'm putting the finishing touches in now, it has roughly 345 horsepower and 470 PP, and it handles much better than I thought it would. I'll probably post my Zonda C12 tune as well, keep an eye out, I'll probably have both tunes up tomorrow sometime!

One of the most iconic muscle cars of all time, and one of the only ones with a turbo and without a V8, The Buick GNX was fairly quick to begin with, but it didn't quite handle as well as most people wanted it to, so I tweaked the suspension and was constantly hot lapping Trial Mountain, and was only 3 seconds of a time I posted in the High End Performance Infiniti G37, which costs a lot more, and is professionally tuned, and has much more horsepower and PP. I'm was rather impressed with this tune, and I hope everyone else will be to. Just a quick tip, I wouldn't expect it to win any races at Daytona or Indy, since I haven't tried to setup the transmission(yet). Enjoy:sly:

Love the GNX tune. When I get a chance (probably a couple weeks because of the FF Shootout) I'll definitely give it a test and review!

Thanks, I made some small changes to the Lancia Delta and IROC Camaro tunes, I just gave them a bit more power.

Often called a "chick car" the Miata is one of the most famous cars ever to come from Mazda and is a legend in cheap, open top thrills. Its a little known fact that Miatas, or MX-5s, whatever you prefer to call them, are road raced around the world more than any other car daily, that includes Porsche, Ferrari, and BMW. This one took a few different tweaks to get it right and it took a lot longer to get it the way I wanted then what I thought it would, but the result paided off greatly and now the Miata is a little turbo charged beast with 250 horsepower and exactly 450PP, so it should hold its own in 450PP races. Enjoy:dopey:

I haven't tried your GNX tune yet (I'm working on my own) but that picture looks badass. I can totally see a couple of mobsters taking a body out of the trunk to dump under that bridge.

Love the miata tune! I will race in any SS tires room I find, so I gave this a chance in the 450pp one. I like how you don't go all out buying every part availible. I took out integras, other miatas, even some lotus elises and an NSX. Keep up the good work, and keep the tunes coming.

"Tunes for the fun-loving, albeit monetarily-savvy motorist" 👍

Wow thats great to hear, I'm quite proud of that one, thank you!

The point of this was to run on Touge courses, which for those of you that don't know what they are, they're basically a race between two cars through twisty mountain roads at night, one car leads, and the other one has to try and pass him, and its not as simple as it sounds. I was running with a few GTP members and this was my chariot of choice, and I manged to win a few races(and was my first time in a Touge match), it also holds its own on "normal" courses. Enjoy:dunce: Oh ya this was also my starter car in GT4.

This was my first car in GT5 and it helped me win a lot of the first races in both A and B spec. Its a fun car to drive and I've been tweaking it ever so slightly ever since I've had it, I think its almost perfect... I love driving it and its about 5 seconds faster around the Nurburgring than the newer Miata that I tuned awhile back. Enjoy.💡 Comments are welcome

This one had next to no engine work done to it, I built this for 450PP rooms online, as well as the new Compact Car Seasonal events, expect a higher powered version soon. However this one handles really good in my opinion, its actually on par with my Miatas in terms of handling and fun. Enjoy:sly:

The RUF 3400S is the RUF version of Porsche's scampy little(wannabe) car. I've spent a fair amount of time tuning this car, and I'm very happy with the result. Its just over a second faster than my RUF RGT(Porsche GT3) around Deep Forest, both cars have the same tires, but the RGT has an extra 30PP over the 3400S! Enjoy! :)

I tried out a few of your tunes on the ring - They're really good

I got a 7:58 in the 89 miata, a 8:02 in the 07, and a 8:15 in the lancia delta

Thank you, the Lancia is fun to drive, but its a bit of a pig, atleast compared to other cars of equal PP. Give The Boxster/3400S a try, I think you might like it.

Yeah that's true - The Miata's were much smoother. I'll check it out later tonight or tomorrow. I really like how you don't go overboard with the parts on the car. Keep it up

I guess I'm trying to keep it realistic, most people wouldn't buy a Miata for under 20K, then dump over 200K in parts into it, it just doesn't make sense.

This has been my hardest car to tune so far, I finally got it how I like and it looks absolutely amazing in Laguna Seca Blue, and it handles just as amazing as it looks. The power is limited just slightly so it can have 550PP so it can take part in 550PP restricted races and track days online. This just happens to be one of my top track day cars and is my 550PP fighter. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do.
