cheers mate. the video will be of great help, going to watch it and try to get a better time. are you using a steering wheel and pedals by any chance ?

nevermind I read the description you are using a steering wheel. I also noticed that you shift before the RPM hits the red line, is it better to do it that way ?

In some cars it is, you just have to watch when the acceleration starts to tail off (the Viper GTS is a classic example). If it "runs out of puff" as it gets to the redline then shift up by all means. Typically, bigger-engined cars and stock turbo cars are the kinds of cars which might work better if not revved all the way to redline.

Yeah it really depend wich car you use :)
some will also like to stay in 3rd during corner even if they feel sluggish, its smoother and you get faster corner exit, thats why i stay in 3rd with the SLS mostly.
and make sure you do the oil change and do full break-in to help.
:)

I have beaten this time:

05:34.479 - Peugeot 908 HDi FAP Team Peugeot Total '100 (godlameroso)

Will get the lap on my capture card tomorrow and link to it from the forum with the time.

I got that car today, I absolutely love it. Handles like a dream.

You have to use your GTP name for the leaderboard :)
Thx for posting a new time, video will be welcomed and put on the list.

Been busy only had time to add one new lap:

Hello, I wish to apply to set a time for these two unused cars:

BMW M3 GTR Race Car '01
BMW McLaren F1 GTR Race Car '97

I have a question or two pls.

re: choosing SS or RS tires according to the rules, I know these cars fall under race/non-production , but how do I know if they are/were street legal before? how can I tell any car if was road legal or not... I'm not savvy enough to know this.

I guess having listed these cars will have another driver beat me to the punch :P that's ok.

deki, no need to type if its a EP3 or EK9, simply write the car name as they appear in the game, thats a must for the speadsheet when we have to update it. :)

Lambob:
With the non-productions you can run any tires you want, but you cant add any power upgrade or weight reduction etc... you can play with factory setting though.

As soon as you add power to the race car or non-production cars, it falls into the ''tuned car'' category. :)

thank you peter_vod69 and mike_gt3. I think I have broken into the engine (400+miles, changed oil) and I am shifting early and trying to turn corners in the 3rd gear. I just beat my old time by 00:00:192 lol there is very little improvement I dont think I will be able to get anywhere near 7:20 with stock tyres, I dont know what I am doing wrong now. Probably need more practise but are there any other tips you have ? maybe I should invest in a steering wheel.

A steering wheel probably really help, but performance wise, you need to find the right line to use, Theres a lot of small details that can help, like identifying the bumps that make the car unstable, not apply full brake when entering a corner, gradualy applying throttle while exiting a corner when needed etc... if it can help watch the display of the throttle and brake on the video and see where i lift my foot off the throttle...

cheers mate. it will probably take me sometime now to know which bump makes the car unstable although I remember the nordschleife at the back of my head now after trying so hard to get a better time. I even tried to turn on the driving line and follow it but didnt work out. I am not using any aids. ABS is set to 0 so I dont fully apply the brakes ever. I am going to watch and learn the video on every corner and see if I can get an improvement of atleast 8 seconds :) thank you for the help though. Have you ever tried to set a time with a DS3 ? if so how many seconds did you drop off when you switched to a steering wheel ?

I did not tested, i cant say, some can do pretty good times with a DS3, but id say it require more precision with DS3, on the opposite for the wheel you need fast reactions, on the DS3 steering from left to right is quick with the thumb, but counter steer with the wheel you need fast reaction... once you get used to it its really nice!

I only use ABS1, without ABS i would need to practice my time would be slower for a while. :)

You will definatly prefer the wheel :)

07:25.989 - Lotus Elise 111R RM '04 (Bonobo4) NEW

Completely stock settings with RS Tyres. I didn't change the Transmission, with hindsight shortening the ratios may have helped and widen top gear to ensure I don't hit the rev limiter before top speed (with stock settings top speed is 151mph and is not hitting the red line). Normally I drive with only ASM and ABS 1, and spin out lots without either. Here I drove with only ABS 1, no TCS or ASM. The car handled perfectly. Fantastic car with an exhaust similar to a Supercharged Caterham.

Just so you know, the default car is here:
07:51.038 - Lotus Elise 111R '04 (zedextreme8177)

Fully Tuned Section:

McLaren F1 GTR Race car '97 (fully tuned, RS), real grip reduction, ABS1 only,
time 5:58:130 , can prove later when i find my cam.
Courtesy Master Praiano. with some modified LSD for minor correction.

Honda/Acura NSX-R '02 (Fully tuned, RS) , real grip, ABS 1 only,

Amazing car, Jackthalad, but I have to limit my style to prevent the back from kicking out, although, if combined with the right steering angle and forward trajectory, the asphalt makes carpet folds behind me. A1

Please.... Write in the format all the rest of us do. Your times will not go on the list, if you don't write it in the right way.

Thanks. I reckon with some better driving and a better set-up I could knock maybe 5-10s off the lap, but it felt good. I saved the replay but have no idea how to upload a video.

You have to use a camera and film the TV screen, then uplaod the video on youtube for example, then post the link here,

or, for better results, get a capture card, i have the haupauge 1429, you connect it in the PCIx1 port of your computer, and connect it to ps3 with component cable, then record the replay live on your computer, and upload the video on youtube, and then post the link here :)

Seeing as I don't have a capture card I'd have to use a camera and film it. Except I find that would be too much effort, plus I've never made a YouTube video so have no clue how to do so.

Everything more than easy and capturing your replays off screen is as easy as it can get...

Yes very easy just create an account on youtube and click the yellow ''UPLOAD'' button :)

Pardon me, I suppose I gave too much information!

you are correct, I reviewed the OP page; " and the format will be as follows: xx:xx.xxx - Car Name, Driver Name

Therefore:

5:58:130 - McLaren F1 GTR Race car '97 , NobleAtreides
6:47:041 - Honda/Acura NSX-R '02 , NobleAtreides

Let me help you on this one, but next time do it correctly please :)

05:58:130 - McLaren F1 GTR Race car '97 (NobleAtreides)
06:47:041 - Honda NSX-R '02 (NobleAtreides)

Make sure the name of the car is the same as the game, the spreadsheet update with alphabetical order. and dont forget the ''0'' digit when under 10 minutes. and make sure you enter your name correctly as well.

I see theres an error on first page,
it should not say:

xx:xx.xxx - Car Name, Driver Name
but
xx:xx.xxx - Car name (GTP username) NEW,BEATEN or UPDATED

^^

You forgot the period before the milliseconds, as this: xx:xx(.)xxx (marked in parentheses) ;)

Okay here's the Elise lap. Again sorry about the poor quality, like I said it was done with a camera. I think it came out okay, you can see the time clearly. Anyway enjoy! :)
