UPDATED THREAD 09-02-2012
Greetings to all CRAP drivers!!
Welcome to our main GTP forum thread 👍
I started this group as a result of constant frustration when entering rooms online only to get booted for any number of bogus reasons. The main ones were for being a "n00b" (and being new to something is a crime how?) or for "cheating" because I used driving aids & it really got to me that there was no group that I could see that was for folks like me so I thought I would start one!
Little did I know how much this idea was wanted by the GTP Community. After 4 months we have over 100 members, 5 CRAP PSN ID's that we use for racing and a dedicated core group of members that race daily; it is these members that are the lifeblood of CRAP and that list of daily CRAPpers is growing fast... So fast in fact that I have had to re-evaluate how we do things.
How it worked up til today involved interested users adding the 5 main CRAP accounts and that was it, simple and easy... Unfortunately though we have had so many members join that it is, to be honest, rather a mess when it comes to members and the rooms PSN ID's they have 'friended' on PSN. You see the idea is, and always has been, that all members send a FR to all five PSN ID's but that has not happened. What we have now is a list of members that either have all 5 friended or, and this applies to a fair percentage, less than 5 so instead of being nice and neat it is, to be honest, a bit of a dogs breakfast
So, how to fix it? Well the idea is simple: Everyone who is a current active member and has all 5 ID's added will be fine and continue to be a member. The rest of the members will fit in to one of the following categories and have the corresponding action to either attend to or taken against them:
1- Active members with less than the 5 CRAP PSN ID's added: User messaged on PSN and asked to add the missing rooms
2- Non active members with less than the 5 CRAP PSN ID's added: Users removed from CRAP without notice and, if membership requested again, will fall in to the category of New User as per #3 below:
3- NEW CRAP MEMBERS: New CRAP members who wish to join will need to first add a new PSN ID that I have created today:
CRAP_New_Members (or CNM) - The purpose of this ID is twofold: Firstly it is to allow up to another 100 members to join without the need to have all 5 accounts. The second, and most important, is to ensure that the members who do join are active members who do not sign up then disappear which is something we have seen a lot of. My vision is to have new members spending a period of time in the CNM lounge, 'probation' if you will, and once they have shown they are serious they can be added to CRAP full membership and will be able to then enter our monthly endurance events, daily races, CRAPWARS weekly TT season, CRAPCON (coming soon, it is CRAP Cup of Nations), the racing series we are starting with GT5 Team GB (kicks off in March), Track days and our prestigious CROC event which is open to those who podium finish in our monthly enduro events
We have a prize coordinator, trading thread and a dedicated admin team that are happy to help with anything you need.
What we have here is a great group with HEAPS of events and special race days and spending a bit of time in the CNM lounge prior to full membership is totally worth it, trust me 👍
So, how will it work?
Firstly a new member will be added to the CNM ID and at that point they can then use the CNM lounge 24/7 with all other members on the list.
As the main CRAP lounges have full lists it is necessary to now do periodical member reviews to ensure inactive members, and I mean totally inactive; if you race once every blue moon that's fine, are removed and their place given to the new member on top of the waiting list. At that point you will receive advice to FR the 5 lounges and then delete the CNM lounge.
I will also be giving up to ten current CRAP regulars access to this lounge and asking them to use it almost exclusively until more members join and swell the numbers, this will ensure new members are not stuck in an empty lounge.
Races in the CNM lounge are to be short and no longer than 50km in length to ensure new members are not stuck waiting ages to race.
I think that is it, I know it seems like a lot but with the amount of new members this IS necessary and whilst it seems more pro than casual I can assure you all that the founding principles of CRAP remain as they were the day I started the group; with that being said I will now let the original thread coninue, thank you all so very much for for your interset and support in CRAP - I am humbled by your support
