I know that the basis of this race was for standard cars but where does it stand on cars that we can not race on Sundays? For example cars over $1 million and DLC cars. I for one would be happy to allow them. Any thoughts?

I've no issue with cars over $1,000,000 but DLC cars are premium if I'm not mistaken???

I think DLC cars should be a yes. People paid real money for those, they might as well be able to use them in an open event such as this.

The whole point of this series is to give people a chance to race cars they wouldn't get to race otherwise, so I guess cars over $1 million would fit that catagory as well.

Bottom line, I don't think we should penalize anyone for showing up in a premium car

However, perhaps to encourage people to dig up obscure standard cars we could have everyone vote at the end for the driver they thought had the most unique car choices and give the winner the equivilant of prize B. Obviously players would not be allowed to vote for themselves.

Thoughts?

They are, but since we can't use them in regular SNAIL competition perhaps they would be apporpriate here. Or perhaps not? I mean standard cars are kind of the point of this series. How strict ddo you think we should be on that?

Yes they are:) But I feel it would be nice to be able to race them seeing as how we can not in normal S.N.A.I.L. events. It is not a big deal either way as we still have 700+ cars to choose from now:)

Last night was fun but the numbers dwindled by the time I got there. Ap and I had a good race with a RGT and Countach:)

I'm fine with having them eligible (they don't come out of my garage very often), was just basing what I said on the name of the series :)

<10% power reduction good?

I just want to say, that when only a PP limit is in place, it comes down to just finding the best car. There are classics I have that are >70 HP and are over 400 PP. I really think people are gonna think Im cheating when we race the FF cars. Maybe not though, we'll see.

Horse power and weight limits are always the way to go if you want to make it as even as possible

I guess we'll just wait and see what happens

Yeah, I'd say 10% is about the reasonble range. And true some cars will be way faster than others, but with so many to choose from it will be unlikely that one person will have the best car for all 3 rounds

We may have to adjust this as we go. The thing about reducing the power is it leaves torque in tact and creates an unrealistic power curve. I would say limit the pp drop to like 5/10/15 points based on the three races and next week we can use cars that are not even 100 say 430 520 590 or something like that which should create variation.

Regarding PP vs hp/kg, I think if you're testing a dozen cars for each round trying to find the absolute fastest one at the given PP, you're kind of missing the point of SCT. For me at least, it's about pulling out cars that you don't normally drive and giving them a go. I don't know if I'll be able to make it tomorrow, but if I can, I'll be choosing my cars about 5 minutes before we start. :)

couldn't have said it better myself. I'm driving a Taurus SHO in round 1 because its as close as I can get to driving my real car in GT (even painted it "grandma beige"). That har handles like a boat compared to the civics an minis others will be driving. Do I care? No, because when else would I get to race a Taurus?

racefan78, I've had an idea bouncing around my head for a new name for this club, but I haven't said anything because it's a bit cheesy. Okay, actually it's a lot cheesy!

That being said, I still keep coming back to it because, cheesiness aside, I still think it's funny and somewhat witty. Let me know if you want to hear it or if you're already married to the "SCT" name.

Ok, basicly you will join the Div 2 lounge tonight (send a friend request to the Div 2 account if you aren't friends with it yet). The first qualifying session will begin at 10pm et/9pm ct. Just bring along three cars, one for each of the combos posted on the first page of this thread. There will be 6 races, two with each combo. Each combo begins with a 10 min qualifying session to set the grid for the first race, then the second race for each combo will be a reverse-grid from the previous race.

If you have any questions about SNAIL rules and regs please check out the SNAIL thread.

Looking forward to racing with you tonight 👍

EDIT: DAHHH, I'VE BEEN NINJA'D!!! Thats the first time its ever happened to me!

 just looking for a laugh!

EDIT: DAHHH, I'VE BEEN NINJA'D!!! Thats the first time its ever happened to me!

Ahhhh, it's been a long time,

racefan, question for you, as I was getting some cars organized last night, I found more than one that fit each of the specs and was wondering what you thought about me running a different car for the reverse grid races?

I'm not sure if it messes up the grid order or not? I'm just pumped about getting some of the Standard cars on track. No worries if you want us in the same car for both races 👍

I don't think it messes up the grid order, but I could be wrong about that. However I would prefer if everyone used the same car for both races. Otherwise it kinda defeats the purpose of a reverse-grid second race because someone who had a slow car the first race could change to a faster car and drive away from everyone else quite easily

Fair enough, hadn't considered that angle :)

See everyone tonight!

I've never been one to shy away from cheesy-ness. Let's hear it Zero!

Okay, here goes..

When scrolling through your garage, you'll notice that Premium cars have a "P" emblem next to them while Standard cars have an "S" emblem. Therefore, let's assume that every knows that "P" cars are Premium cars and "S" cars are Standard cars.

Also, let's also assume that everyone knows that this is the greatest and most influential motorsports anime/manga in history.

When put these basic principles together and then add a snaily twist, you get:

"S" car Go! - A Tasty SNAIL Event

(the word "Go!" can also have multiple meanings, such as the word people yell to start a race, or simply go ahead and use Standard cars!)

Wow, you weren't kidding. That's a lot of cheese

I wouldn't have a problem with it though. It might attract more attention to the thread

I told you it was cheesy!

It's not quite as clean-cut as the other names I've come up with (all the ones listed in my sig), but it's definitely got the highest element of humor.

Another way to do it would be:

ESCarGOT - A Tasty SNAIL Event

(Every Standard Car Goes On Thursdays)

This way might might make it more obvious what the play on words is. 👍
