can we all agree that calling a "Sector" "T1" is confusing?

T1 = Turn 1
T2 = Turn 2

S1 = Sector 1
S2 = Sector 2

I would also accept "I" for Intermediate since that's how the F1 nerds roll... but where did the using "T" for "Sector" come from?

I think GT5 and GT4 list sectors as T1,T2, etc... "T" for Time?

Just had a run around with this week's cars. First I ran the first 2 back to front. Not the best start lol but at least they felt better the right way round. On a .6 for the first two and a 36.3 for the M5.

Also why no vids for last week's races ;( the last 2 would have made good vids too.

I call the 'intermediates' T1 etc as well. Blame the WRS for that. :P

Blame Borderlands 2... My wife really likes co-op and that thing is one hell of a time-sink. ;)

Anyone wanna practice in the next hour? After that I'm watching the start of the 6 hour Bahrain race here at 13:00 GMT and FIA GT1 here at 13:45 GMT so I'll be able to practice after that as well. ;D

Pretty lame that the FIA GT1 live streams on youtube are blocked in the USA. Why? Because Speed owns the broadcast rights but they chose not to use them for more than a 20min highlight clip that gets posted on their website a week after the races.
They do the same thing for WRC and the Blancpain GT3 enduros. Road racing in the US is so broken from a fan perspective. :/

Quick question on track boundaries:
1697179-high_speed_ring_3_super.jpg

If you look up by the guardrail you can see that gray stuff outside white line, is that classified as a rumble strip?
I was doing some testing after 2.08 and was running 1:14.2 in the Aston and 1:13.0 in the Jaguar using them as rumble strips.
It is a really simple track but the Jag was a little tail happy riding the high line.

Just to clarify since that photo doesn't show the only place that time can be gained by abusing the aprons. After turn 1 in the reverse direction there's enough concrete to drive behind the grey cobble kerbing. That's out of bounds. This cut is good for about a 1/2 second of savings so I wanted to make sure everyone is aware that powering out of turn1 so hard that you understeer up to the wall is not acceptable.

If you do it in qualifying, lift off and make sure it's a slow lap.

Here's a visual aid:

I think I was using that yesterday... time to scratch some time off from somewhere else. :P

yeah, it killed you and daryl.
everything else seems fine.... would really suck to have network issues mess us up considering the low turn-out to begin with. :/

Sorry, Tim I have to go. My batch render finished faster that I expected (new computer has a faster clock), now I'v got editing to do.
Had a great time at High Speed Rings. In race 2 I had a lag problem in the first half, and a driver talent problem (me) in the second half :lol

I should thank you... that puts me in front of you in the standings. :sly:

Which btw are updated 👍

* Adam extends his lead by a very slim 1 point grabbing 1,3,1 to tony's 2,1,2
* outlaw puts two big weekends together to firmly grab the third step in the standings with timeattack looming in the rear-view

Get you leather helmets and goggles ready for time travel next weekend. 👍

Best weekend I had in quite a while. Practice really paid off and I had some brilliant saves where I would've normally crashed. The only thing that didn't happen was Adam and Tony taking each other out, but there were some close calls, especially with the Aston. Just a bit more ahead and I could've snuck through.

With the M5, I had nothing for the duo, but I clung to Brock despite how I struggled with the last corner. Favorite moment was going for the pass at the hairpin on the last lap. Think I scared him like with me at Motegi. That or he was diamoning the corner, something that I usually do there.

Next week, back to our regular programming, me racing with the other humans. :lol:

damn i can't believe I've been missing out on this. I wish i had seen this earlier in the schedule. If this gets another season on another day or later in the evening id love to race with y'all.

feel free to hop in for the last two... we've regularly had 6+ open holes on the grid the last couple. really only about 11 in the full-time championship hunt. without veloci and wardez we could use more gt-academy on the grid. ;)

The more the merrier. 👍
On a side note, wow, not sure how I'm going to fit in my racing... simulations don't take hours anymore :lol:
(J/K, I'll make time ;) )

Me? scared?! :P :lol: jk. But tbh, I had basically given up (out of utter frustration) completely at the point when you had passed me...c'mon, I'm not that easy of a lay! lol :sly:

On a more serious note, I think my realistic expectations of catching Tony & Adam faded quite early in the race, as by the time I had gotten around you they had already pulled out a bit of a gap which put me in a tough position. I felt my only option at that point (as Adam really seemed to be in a hurry) was to push as much as possible to try and close up to where I was safely in their draft (not getting a unexpected tow here and there only to misjudge my braking point). Unfortunately in the process, I was driving a bit dodgy on the whole (probably from the usual aggravation of prior races) and braking way too late which ended up taking too much out of my tires early on (trying to make up the precious tenths I needed to get back into the draft). This early push and over indulgence of the tires when braking, unsuprisingly turned into a bit of an avalanche affect as the race progressed.

I think my recent unability to put together a clean racing weekend, let alone even a legitmate race for the win (I haven't even gotten a single win yet) is really starting to wear on me. I continue to manage to put myself in a comprimised starting position for the final race time and time again, by either making some completly numpty decisions (stupid stuff that often doesn't relate directly to driving) early in the first 2 crucial heat races, or just by general bad luck (DC's, getting taken out, etc.)/small things that time and time again seem to largely play against me in the bigger picture.

I probably sound like a big baby at this point...but it's almost become comical as to how my weekend will unravel next. My luck seems to be about as good as Schumacher's or Jeff Gorden's atm (if I perform well then something else will let me down, if I perform poorly then everything else will go smoothly and there's nothing to blame but myself)...regardless it seems I can't have a weekend without one or the other going wrong :lol: Seems like its a pretty consistant trend that I've had in a lot of GT5 series races though.

This weekend it all started off by exiting the first races qualy session way early and not being able to get back in (since we were doing qualy in race mode)...which was a total brain fart on my part :dunce: I don't like to go too far into the if's/but's/could've's...but the knockdown affect this mistake had, not only affected what happened at the start of my race (starting in the mid pack mayhem/bumper cars), but also what would transpire later in that race (getting collected in an accident in front of me), as well as affecting my mind set/aggressiveness (and what I needed to do) in the following race to secure a legit starting position for the final race.

It was funny because I thought I had finally caught a little break when you had your little moment and almost collected Adam in race 2...but all this did was allow Tony to catch back up to our draft pack. :lol: Can't say I was suprised though :crazy:

Anyway, enough of my usual moaning (at least I'm dramatic :dopey: lmao). Now hopefully I can just get at least a win in before the season is over. See ya guys next weekend!

Think of it this way. You have the speed to win. All I have going for me is podiums. (which, given today's results, I scored a personal Triple). :D

Car's rear hopped on me at the exit. That should've been the end, but for once, the car stayed pointing forwards.

When you crashed, I thought it would take out Adam. Instead, I rammed him away from disaster. :crazy:

Sorry I didn't show guys, things changed and I couldn't make it. I should be able to make the rest of the season from here on out though.

:lol: Quit trying to sell yourself short (maybe you're just playing possum :P). You probably had the speed to win at least 2 races yesterday, but just barely missed out in 2 of them. You seem to be getting closer and closer to knocking on the door of the front runners lately, and with a little bit more time and practice could very well be a strong contender for the win on a more regular basis.

I on the otherhand just need to completely eliminate my stupid brain farts (particularly the non driving related errors that I made in the first round and this latest round) and hope that by doing so the rest of my luck and the way things unfold will maybe improve...instead of one small thing avalanching upon another, which only further compromises my following races and mentality.

I'm sure glad I didn't take anyone with me when I had my wipe out :scared:

I had a great start in that race and first couple of laps went well enough. By about the 3rd or 4th lap I saw that Tony had fallen back just a bit so I thought it would be smart to try and team up with you (by bump drafting) to maybe get our little pack a bit of breathing room. My goal was to try and regain enough time (after my relatively disasterous first race) in the 2nd race to where I could maybe get a top 3 starting position for the final race, which would have been very valuable.

Regardless, it definitely was going to be a long shot to try and pull out a ~10 second gap to Tony by the end (even if we were bump drafting throughout)...but it was really my only option to avoid having to start in a fairly compromised position (4th...which you can't really do when racing guys the caliber of Tony & Adam) for the final race.

Understandibly, Adam had other plans (deciding to race hard early on) which didn't really play into my favor, and once you had your little moment (which allowed Tony to get back within striking distance), the whole idea of trying to break away was down the toilet. Once Tony was back in the hunt, I figured that it was either balls to the wall (literally haha) to try and somehow create a gap, as just taking it relatively easy and running with the pack (which was now you, Adam & Tony) meant that I was only going lock myself into a 4th starting position for the last race. Unfortuantely my gamble to push didn't really pay off either, as I ended up getting bit by the curbing entering the last corner. I did a decent enough job to try and save it but as the car slowed down along outer wall, the dreaded magnetized guardrail decided to rotate my car so the front was facing the guardrail :lol: Fortunately, it wasn't too hard to work my way up the field to 5th which was going to be enough secure me a 4th for the final race (despite my massive error).

What I really need to be more competitive is two things:

1. Fix my horrid braking. My braking distance at 100% pedal is actually longer than 80-90%, so just about everyone taps me in the rear at least once a race.
2. Get a new wheel. I continue to believe that it shouldn't feel as sloppy as it does right now.

Yeah, that wasn't what I wanted to happen either. However, let's just say that on the last lap, I might've surprised Adam when I gave Tony a big bump instead of him. :sly: :lol:

Sorry I missed yesterday. Had a Sox we was going to. However we had two people back out. So the guy with the tickets said screw it. You wanna go drag racing. He got a car he recently finished and wanted to get a time on it. So to strip we went.

Unknown to us it was Street Car Chaos where all the Chicago street racers come to the track for some gambling and legal street races.

Had a blast. My buddies car ran spot on to what I was saying. He accomplished his goals and then some. Was a lot fun.

Watched a $5,000 street race. Those people ate crazy. I don't bet over a hundred. LoL most likely that money is a compilation of crews. Then again there are some 80-100k race cars getting down.
