I had a dirty nascar room up a few minutes ago. Some guy simon came in he said he was from GT5 an there people with hacked cars in here an it kicked all my friends out of my room. I was wonderng if this has happened to anyone else or was this guy just trying to scare us.

He's full of it. Even if he was from Polyphony Digital, they wouldn't go into online lobbies and go "Bro we're going to ban you, get ready" They'd just do it =/

I get people claiming they work for Sony, non-stop. :P
I get told that if I scam them during a trade, they'll "ban me forever", or get their dad who works for sony to "perma ban me -_-".
 
Like that email that is going around on psn, about people saying 'online play is going to be a paid service' while it's not and if you forward the message, you'll get x amount of store credit? Sounded fishy so I ignored it...

I dont know if it was a joke but after he left all my friends got kicked. I just wanted to know if its happened to anyone else or just me.
 
Ah yes, I remember this. Mainly cause I was there too, but I looked at the Recent Players list but no one on it looked suspicious.

If they all got kicked at the same time it's because the room died in the servers or the host was a fixed host and when he leaves, everyone gets booted from the room automatically.

No, that didn't happen. As he was talking (Simon) everyone started dropping like flies. Voluntarily and involuntarily. But me and 3 others stayed in the room.

I NEVER set my room to fixed host. I hadda back out for a few mins an when i came back sonic an my buudy was still racing while the others were booted. You can ask sonic what happened he was in there.

Happens sometimes, it's just the servers, has nothing to do with Simon or hacking or anything else. Just coincidence.
 
Who was the host? Same host the whole time? And did the host ever drop?

Also: One should just assume that "some Simon guy" who joins an online racing pub lobby room you're in, is not, in fact, an employee of PD, and one should probably assume that a lot of the people you meet online might lie. LOL

Some of these modded cars have been "over-modded" .. Meaning incorrectly.. and when they go on to the track it cause the room to freeze and/or lag out.. YES I have seen AND experienced this -_-

So the explanation then being that "some Simon guy" knew this, told his tall tail, took his 'over-modded' car out on track knowing this would happen?

Sounds like an explanation to me.

That was a joke because I said people lie... and for all anyone knows, well, I could be "some simon guy"... but I'm not.

But I'm still curious... who was the host? and was the same person host through this whole event?

I was the host. I was the host a couple of hours. I hadda leave to change my oil in my nascar, my buddy took over. When i left tere was 5 people still in it when i came back there was only 2 an my buddy said some simon guy came in saying it. Im not lying, I dont know if he was from grand turismo 5 or not but when he left everyone got kicked.

I would say lying was more likely than someone actually being a Sony employee going into pub lobbies kicking people. That seems preposterously unlikely, and makes lying seem all the more likely an explanation. Whether it was your friend or "some simon guy" who lied - you'd know best what's more likely... But I'd say someone was definitely lying.
Why would Sony pay people money to go into pub lobbies griefing people? Doesn't make sense.

There seems to be several if these A-holes running around... It happened to us twice last night.. I know it's against AUP to mention names, but you better believe next time "so and so A-Hole #x" types some ignorant message in the screen and my game freezes up I will be taking a picture and uploading it.. I ask and suggest everyone to do the same..
 
@ jgancherjr - yeah, if they're doing it deliberately with over-modding, that's pretty egregious griefing.

Now I'm getting kind of concerned for those few moments in shuffle, where I switch to spec, and there's always 2-3 people who pile onto the track with their own cars while I'm trying to pick a car out of the Recommended Garage... even though they know they're just going to be entry cancelled in 30 seconds. :boggled:

I would double the "report" recommendation for idiots who claim to be working for Sony. :rolleyes:
