I now understand why folks ask about pp of cars before the races. I thought I could get by with just the oil change, but with how close in skill everyone is, not being able to halt a draft pass or initiate one at Tskuba and Special Stage was driving me mad.
 
All I can say to Owens is you have my condolences. I can't even bear the thought of losing Honey. And that you had the same breed, I truly feel your pain. There is absolutely no breed like the AmStaff a.k.a "the Nanny dog". In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, that were the breed of choice for families with children due to their unconditional love of kids, loyalty, and desire to please their humans. For those that don't know the term AmStaff, it is short for American Staffordshire Terrier. And now you have a brief and true history of the Pit Bull. The beloved pet of Dr. Seuss and The Little Rascals, and many other American celebs/icons.

Sorry for the delay in response but it looks like some others took care of you for last night. I was stuck at an AAU basketball tournament.

Thanks for your interest! We would love to have you in the series. Here's what you need to know and do in order to join:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the S.N.A.I.L. OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide.
Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You run the Time Trial. (NOTE: The tires selected for this have more grip than our current tire regulations allow, but please follow the directions exactly anyways).
2. You PM kcheeb with your time from the time trial (no Sunday racing until this is completed).
3. We assign you to the division that we feel will give you the closest competition.
4. We send you a you a PSN friend request from the corresponding SNAIL_Division1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 account. That PSN account's lounge is where you will race on Sunday night.
6. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

The original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread.

Please note that we often race DLC from three add-on packs:

If you don't have these add-on packs, you will need to sit out the races in which they are used.

I am still trying to get a sense of the classic car community in the area (not the super expensive ones), I will take pics again tomorrow, different group than last time.

I'm pretty sure you said before but what kind classic car do you have?

Great racing in D1 tonight though. I'll be kicking myself for a while for my mistake in the second race as I think that cost me the night. Great fun otherwise though. The Evo was my favorite. I really like cars that are loose on entry when you want them to be.

I agree, probably some of the best racing I've ever been in since joining D1. I did a preliminary points total last night when it was all said and done and realized that I had a legitimate shot at winning the night or at least finishing 2nd until I totally missed a corner at the Nurb. Was running 4th and would have been a cap to a fairly good night. Consistently in the top 5 in each race. Ended up finishing 9th which set me back in the final standings.

I liked the Evo combo. I really like that track and the car was tricky but fun at the same time. I love the Challenger, but I really hate that track. I hate the Nurb as a whole...in any configuration.

Yeah...my GSR and SRT8 were fresh from the dealer with no oil change. I set some good times considering I was down 15-20PP. I was in the lead a few times but just couldn't shake people in my draft. They would just drive right around me.

Wife surprised me by saying she wanted to do some work on the computer and said I could race...even got me a beer out of the fridge ;) So it was 9:31pm when I fired up the PS3. Feeling a little frisky and fresh... I decided I would come out of Sun/Wed retirement and run a few races with a fresh attitude. Bought the two cars I didn't have and jumped in...zero practice with any of these combos.

Qualified 3rd at Tsukuba and got taken out on the first couple of corners. Race over. Very frustrating and validating start to the evening I can tell you. I expected it but was very hopeful it wouldn't happen. Won the next race going away.

Had some good moments in the next two combos but frustrated due to lack of PP. Even with lack of PP I managed to lead some laps and set some fast laps...so that felt good...even qualified within a couple tenths of the leaders with a huge PP disadvantage and no practice.

The problem remains that with so few laps, everyone wants to win on the first corner. Very frustrating. Had a little fun, mostly proud that I had such a huge disadvantage and still could be in the fight. Somewhat vindicating...back to PP Cap tonight and lots of fun to be had by all!

Sorry Diabolic for the tap on the last race of the evening. You were a little out of control and I tapped you causing you to run a little wide. I pulled off to the right on the grass to wait but I think we both decided the night was over for us ;)

None bought yet, I'm trying to pick one. I nearly picked up a Caterham a few months ago, then I just about grabbed an '81 911.

I'm not a gearhead, but I am looking for a daily driver, light duty, that's fun and heavy on personality. I am trying to see which shops around me are decent and reputable, and if there are some brands or makes that are better than others, should I get a fixer-upper or a fully restored model. None of my friends drive or really like older cars, so I don't know much about the local repair scene.

I'm open to ideas - probably best by PM - if someone has experience with restorations on older cars.

The Porsche 356 was very nice on Sunday, and my Dad thought they were good quality wise, but not sure on maintenance. I'm leaning towards the general Triumph Spitfire / TR6, MG MGB, convertible. Maybe a mid to late 60's Mustang, realistically the 289 block.
 
I have ALOT of experience with 911's as I owned one for several years and took it to track days with the Porsche club. Even was a Porsche service writer for about a year. Older 3.0 and 3.2 911's are about as bulletproof as you can get. PM with questions concerns.

You have a pretty good list. The rest is just thorough research using car specific forums.

My dad and I have restored his '68 Chevy pickup shortbed and his '68 Camaro. The pickup was originally 2WD. We bough a '72 Blazer 4WD chassis and have fitted the body on the Blazer chassis. It's in the shop now having the transmission tunnel redone to fit. Had to add a bit of extra steel to lengthen the Blazer chassis.

I have an '80 Malibu that I have started working on. Going for a pro street look. Got my body work done, cowl induction hood and fenders rolled to hold 10" tires in the rear and now I'm debating selling it for a late model Camaro (98-02) with an LS1 and going drag racing.

Good thing you passed on the Caterham if you were looking for a daily driver. Not much in the way of a roof! Shame you passed on the porsche 911 though. If your looking for a car to just tool around in, then an old muscle car, or even older american car is good, but, for the occasional track day autox, I would suggest an import of some sort. If you know something about electrical work our have access to someone who does, then a triumph or mg is a good.choice, however, locus electronics are notoriously bad. something from the.70s era japan would be a good choice too. Datsun/nissan, toyota abd mazda all made great looking cars. I'm especially partial to the rx4 and rx5 mazda cosmos. And rotaries are.far far more reliable then their reputation. Though, finding a mechanic with rotary knowledge can be hit

Land Rovers old are the best!!! So strong, its hard to break, I got cupples pics of this Land Rovers old school.

The old 240/280Z models are something I quite like. I'll still have the Minivan for 6-7 more years of kids, scouts, carpools, etc. This will be the 'fun' third car. I don't think the Caterham would have ultimately made the cut with the wife.

I've dreamt of having an old 240 but putting a more modern motor in it. SR20DET would be fun. Maybe an RB26DETT.

The Miata is probably a blast, plus it's not too difficult to add more power (V8 swap!).

Miatas are a blast, and one of the best autox cars out there. Though for highway and long/power tracks, they are a bit under powered. However, plenty of power adder options as you can see. I say, be sure to find a hard top version with the torsen rear end.
 
^ looks like it could use a reducer on the S/C outlet. Bet it's a fun drive though. Is that yours?

It was... sold it a few years back for no other reason than I got tired of driving a convertible. I think everyone at some point should own one but after a while it gets kind of tiring. I will say one thing - it was a super easy car to work on with a great support forum in miata.net. I installed that supercharger in my driveway in one weekend and never had any problems with it.

That's a good option dabneyd - one I almost went with. The only issue with the turbo was it was to easy to add more power with the base setup.:sly:

As discussed here, please file a complaint or you'll be docked GranStand points. After all, that entire section in red was inspired by you. It doesn't matter if you're only racing part time and have no interest in the GranStand. If you want to race in the league, then follow the league's rules please. Complaints are here, not on the thread. You know better than that. ;)

It's not easy to let up and allow a drive that was interfered with to have the position back as it also allows many others to take a better position. However, it is the right thing to do and helps to remind me to apply my best racecraft at all times. Good night of racing D3!

That's the main thing. If I have a direct impact on someone's race then it is my duty to stop and give the position back regardless of where I end up finishing. I already feel bad enough about taking them out, it'll make me feel worst if I continue racing and get a good finish knowing I ruined someone else's race.

On that note, if you accidentally get into someone and are stopping to give back the position, PLEASE pull off line out of the way of racers behind you. Do not stop immediately in the middle of the racing line and wait for that person to get back in front of you. It doesn't hurt if you drive on a couple of seconds to get out of everyone else's way and then pull over. Just food for thought.

Yes, this is crucial, especially if you are in the way of the person you are trying to give a position back to. Also a big deal for me is if I give someone a position I won't try to pass until a few turns afterward, at least given i crashed because I was driving way faster than the person in front of me, unlike the sole reason for the crash was me driving like poop (on nurburgring gp most probably)

Spot on! I was having major issues running the third combo. I think I left my controller sensitivity on 1 when I needed it -1. Every tap of the dpad sent the car drifting. I was used to the Scion from performance cap, but the twitches of the dodge were difficult to manage with my error.
