Welcome to the Team GTP thread!​


Hello, as the title states, Team GTP is back again for Fifa 14! We have been running strong throughout Fifa 13 and have played over a thousand games and clocked in some amazing performances and built a great team. But for Fifa 14 its time to start over. Some things will stay the same but other things many change however much of the format the regulars will recognise and hopefully we can attract some newcomers. This team is about working well together, feel free to sign up regardless of your quality, So long as you dont score own goals you should find yourself getting a spot in games in no time, However those who are very individual (greedy) genuinely dont fit in well and those with an attitude probably wont have a long and satisfying stay. This is still early days so the thread will be alot more filled out by the time Fifa 14 hits the shelves, But for now, If you would like to take part in our team put your name down along with your preferred position in the following format:

Position/PSN Name (and later we will add virtual pro rating)

Once your name has been entered I will put your name onto a list and we will make that in the second post.

Just as a side note, depending on how it works out, we may have a slight issue with what console people are buying Fifa on, So I encourage you to post any info on such related details if you are interested :)

Well nothing is concrete right now, as you may know I play basically everywhere but i like it in CM, But like said in OP, put down where you want to play, helps better structure our line up :)

Guys you are more than welcome to take posts on this page for stats and the like, I will mention on the OP locations of the stat posts and it will be on the front page anyway, sorry I didnt warn you just had a bit of free time after football (Il see if the posts can get moved?)

And in future, mabye we should (for kits and such) post examples in here and take a vote on one we like best? and i dont think we need 4 people to change kits :P
 
Well I was thinking, if just one person is allowed to change the kits and they don't come on for long periods of time. Then when we get bored of a kit, we can't ask them to change it because they are never on. Plus if we do change it, when they do finally come on they see it's been changed, they might get annoyed and change it to something that they want, not something that everyone wants.

So this way if there are four people able to do it, there will almost certainly be one of those four online on one night to change it. Providing the two week period has gone. It's just a fairer way of doing it.
 
I will be back again on my 2nd account. Not sure which position to put me down for as I've already played a number of positions for the club

7th October 2013 -
The first two weeks of FIFA 14 clubs is over. So lets have a quick recap shall we. I mean where to even begin! It started off....quiet. With me Paul and Fenton the only ones playing for the first couple of days. After a few shaky games, we got up and running. Marvin claiming the first goal of Team GTP on FIFA 14. MARVellous! (I shall leave now) Now we have the gang fully up and running. It has been a funny few nights. People are still trying to settle into their positions, with myself dropping from CAM to GK, Sureshot hovering between CM and ST, DJ moving upfront, Ayron...... staying on the wing at all costs apart from his one and ones, people are still looking round for their spot. It is making for some interesting competition I believe and some interesting play, with it differing from night to night. It hsa been successful for the most part though. FIFA 14 despite its niggles suits our play style, so I look forward to us developing on this and getting used to it. Hopefully we might reach DIV 1 sometime this century! Thats all for this first thingy! Cheers!

This, pretty much. I find it odd that of all things kits seems to be one of the more contentious issues, I don't think there should be too many rules on it, apart from no kit from one of the clubs we support (or rivals of :safetywinkatpaul: )

I like the fact we rarely come across a team with the same kit as ours, obscure is good.

I think posting in here for a kit request change is good, gives everyone a chance to voice an opinion on it, makes it a bit less impulsive.

We've gotten more people going in to more positions in the last couple of months, which is good, though who knows what changes 14 Clubs will bring.

Given I've probably been the most productive there, I'll put down position as ST, but really, I'll play anywhere, as inevitably many of us will.

Not too long to wait now guys! Just for most of you since you are british I would like to alert you to a deal if you are buying a PS4 before xmas, If you buy it at GAME on ps3 (FIFA 14, BF4 or COD) then they will offer you a £40 trade in value, so basically meaning you only need to spend a tenner or so to upgrade to PS4.

Another thing, From playing the demo, Is there anything you guys have noticed that you lot think will affect how the team should play in Fifa 14 in comparison to what we have become accustomed to in 13?
 
I don't think at this point I will be getting this years version. GTAV and GT6 should keep me going for the time being, but if it seems like a lot of fun is being had I might just relent...
 
Yes we will have a team for PS4 of course, but that comes out in 2 months, wheras fifa comes out in 2 weeks
 
Ok, To state some things that may help in our preperation for FIFA 14 Clubs, I have noticed the following things through either playing the game, Watching people play the game or whatever information has been released by EA.
There is a much bigger focus on slower build-up play seemingly, With FIFA focusing on giving players a better ability to hold up the ball, more fluid control and quick short passes being much easier. This has also been supported with the emphasis on strength in the game as EA said, So we should be able to control the play a bit better than we can manage on 13 with having bigger players giving a real effect for once.
Headers seem to be alot easier to score, I can barely imagine what our cross/goal ratio is in FIFA due to defenders always seeming to gain the upperhand, But it seems easier now, So heavier taller players may give us a better advantage than it used to.
It is becoming alot easier to get past players when dribbling due to having less things to do (not having to hold L2 when doing skill moves) and also the fact you can do fake shots when sprinting, so this should make things easier but we should probably consider player controlled pacy wing backs to combat this as crossing seems to lead to goals easier like I said earlier.
I had a good go in goals in the modes avaliable and I have to say, they have not improved on the many little issues we found with goal keepers (with the movement or lack of movement) and with the new shot system, It is MUCH harder for goalkeepers as I have noticed, Before shots were unreachable only if they went in a corner or were too close to react but now shots can be alot more powerful, alot more unpredictable and introduce some annoying factors to deal with such as the dip of the ball in freekicks that was not such a factor before. However, In some cases playing against an AI keeper they have performed admirably, so this may be something for us to consider as an option rather than just because no one wants to go in net.
Another thing I noticed is that AI attackers (as promised) make much more creative and inventive runs, often leading to a 1 on 1 with the keeper or much more space than I am used to in FIFA 13. This gives us great attacking oppertunities with the possible option of an AI attack who actually can function, But will also cause us difficulty in defense as I would imagine.

If you guys feel anything more should be added, simply post. This is not a directive on what we will do, This is just my observation on how we can adapt to what FIFA will throw at us this year :D
