Citta di Aria (normal): Sector 1
Judges are required to run from the Starting-Line to the T1 mark (any further on the course is at the judges discretion).

3 Divisions (FWD, RWD, AWD)
S3 tires only
"Normal" cars only. "Tuner" and "Concept" cars need to be approved so please ask first if you have any doubts.
No nitrous

There are no other limitations. Downforce, power, weight... All other mods are in your control and should be picked solely for the purpose of tuning a better car.

Once approved as a judge...

Set the Standard
Purchase (for the division or divisions you plan to judge) the following cars, change the oil, and remove all driving aids...
FWD: Spoon Integra Type R
RWD: Amuse S2000 R1
4WD: Nismo R-tune R34

Test the appropriate car to establish a standard for tuned cars in each division (FWD, RWD, 4WD). Do not score the Touge Monsters, only use them to gain an understanding of a standard for each division's potential.

Test the Entries
-Test at Citta di Aria (Normal), use only starting-line to T1 as the test sector.

Grade each of the tuner submissions on a scale of 0 (horrible) to 100 (excellent). Use the following criteria...

Judging Criteria:
  • An initial comparison of feel and sector time to the current "Touge Monster."
  • Feel of handling, consistancy and ease of proper operation.
  • Overall tendency to be predictable and capable through the Test Course's various conditions.
  • T1 sector times should be noted.
  • Stand-out performers may take the "Touge Monster" title and be retired with honors for the sake of a final showdown between more competitive rival entries.
  • "Special" awards may be given to unusually appealing entries.

Now build and test each of the cars from one or more divisions. If you wish to submit scores you must submit a score for each car in any or all of the divisions.

Once you have tested each of the submissions, reply to this thread with your grades for each car, your nomination for a final spot race in the division, and any nomination you have for the special award.


Please make initial Score and Award presentations simple. List the cars in order from first to last or last to first based on the 0-100 score. Then post your proposal for the division spot race, then post any nominations for the special award.

Any commentary and detailed observations should be posted in a seperate reply (and I encourage all of you to make detailed follow-up replies after posting your initial score/award presentation).

Description: My touge battle entrant. Note there isn't any rigidity increase purchased. This car is in my opinion one of the most overlooked cars in the whole game. It is an absolute warrior. NA Tuning was chosen over turbo here for the awesome power/torque curves provided by NA, which when going up hills is absolutely necessary. I kept the suspension nice and soft as touge tracks (i.e. mountain roads) are not a smooth ride from my understanding. Be careful going through the chicane in T1, the car is generally good over bumps but that bump in that chicane is nasty and the car is still lightweight. Which brings my next point, the WPR is very good so the car is charging forward when putting the power down- keep that in mind when taking tight corners. If the car is to be used on a different track other than Citi di Aria the gears should be widened using Final ratio only. Rather than do it yourself contact me if such a change is needed for a new track. The car looks great too from front and rear- just that side view that puts people off. A more track orientated version may reach Aussie Tuners after this challenge is over. Bring it on competition.
 
Wouldn't Costa Di Amalfi to T1 work better? Aria has about 3 real "corners" before T1.

So, now that we've seen the T1 section of each course, what are the opinions?
My opinion... :sly:
I think the videos speak for themselves.
In one direction Amalfi opens with a longer straight then takes 3 u-turns on a wide, smooth road only to be interrupted by minor corrections on the straights and the horrible jump after turn 1. :indiff:
In the other direction Amalfi opens with what could be the sharpest most narrow u-turn in GT4, immediately followed by what could the be second worst, then a moderate u-turn where the road gets to be a little more wide. From there you get the jump ( :indiff: ), then one medium speed entry turn (where T1 breaks the chicane into two sections). The entire section is smooth in surface and only broken by the sharp jump.

So Amalfi generally looks like smooth u-turns of varying sharpnesses and only 4 (maybe 5 depending on how you count them) turns in its most difficult sector (IMO the reverse sector is much more difficult than the normal and generously counts 5 turns by T1).

Citta di Aria (normal) on the other hand...
Starts with threading the needle for the uphill starting line, then a straight that's about 12 seconds in Mr P's Copen. Then it's onto uphill med speed right, sharp, flat, low speed left-right into downhill med speed left graduating into med speed right decreasing to sharp low speed right, then sharp flat left, then long sweeping flatout right.

So Aria opens with a straight and goes into a clump of about 6 or 8 turns, the track surface is generally bumpy but without overly sharp bumps or pits, both uphill and downhill sections are present but there are no jumps, and the width of the track varies from barely wide to almost too tight.

I am confident I have made the right choice in picking Citta di Aria (normal) from starting line to T1 as our timed sector of test course. 👍

Comments:
It’s been 1 year and several months since this NSX-R’s debut into the tuning world. Originally lightly tuned, being praised for being easy to drive and going as fast as you dared. About a year after its debut, it was taken back into the workshop, the body was battered and bruised from its battles with the likes of the Opera S2000, RUF CTR2 and the fearsome RUF BTR. A few days later it emerged from the shop, with a new, refreshed body. A newly fitted exhaust system helped the V6 breathe easier, as well as revised suspension for much tighter handling. This new version was christened the Evo.II. A few months later, and it still goes strong, typical Honda reliability. The setup is engineered to work on any track. From the hellish Nurburgring, to the gentle curves of Apricot Hill.

Abuse it, go on.

This car likes to grip, despite having over 230bhp and 250nm+. It grips hard where ever you take it, and it doesn't want to let go. It feels more like FR than anything else, and I was honestly impressed by the sheer mechanical grip it had. Drive it hard, and it'll reward you with times that seem to belong into FR class. It's capable of 39.xxx T1 times and low 1'42 laptimes. Warning: This car stops very well despite the S3 tyres.

This car was another positive surprise in the hatchback category. It is bit heavier than the FWD counterparts, but it makes it up with splendid, fuss-free handling characteristics and doesn't overload tyres unless you try bit too hard and manage to screw up the weight transition. it is very well balanced little car, and my only regret is that it isn't a 3-door version. Feel free to push it, it might give some midship machinery a good run for their money.

THIS is my Touge Monster. A factory tuned Godzilla, Nismo S-Tune '00, with hefty amount of power and nice torque all over powerband. AWD ensures traction, and while it is heavier than it's competition, it is surprisingly nimble for what it is. Braking might be hairy in this one, so be careful since the corners WILL approach at high speed. But worry not, the turn-in is excellent, as is acceleration. This should be able to keep the R-Tune at bay, and possibly even the mid-engined competitors.

Comments:
The Accord is Honda’s family saloon. Often up against the likes of the Nissan Primera, Ford Mondeo and Vauxhall Vectra. But then the gurus at Honda thought “now, we shall make a hot Accord”, and the Euro-R emerged from the factory. With the H22A motor, this Accord was no doubt a hot saloon. When we found this one, it had already been around the block, so we rebuilt it from the ground up. Turning the hot Accord, into a scorcher. The H22 was reworked to produce 275bhp, and weight was reduced to nothing. Beware Primera, the Accord is here.

It’s 3rd gear is 1337!

Comments:
The top dog of the Evolution kennel. The MR boasts more torque and less weight over the standard GSR. As well as a lighter rear spoiler, paired with black headlights and taillights over the standard silver. As a result the MR is already a good car. But even so, it had to be beefed up to compete on the Touge. A bigger turbo, intercooler and exhaust make sure the engine makes well over 400bhp and 400ft-lb. The power to weight ratio in this car is simply insane. The short ratio box keeps the Evo in the high revs, meaning this Evo will not run out of steam halfway through 5th gear, infact it’ll keep going until it’s gone through 6th too.

Don’t let the MR badge fool you, it can’t enter the MR races.

This car certainly looks like it is made for touge races. well sir, yes it is. MFT's Leonidae once said "every Initial D fanboy knows that the Spoon Civic is the best Type R." well i'm about to prove that.., The setup has been "improved" over the last one, it has undergone rigorous fine-tuning: the engine has been carefully reworked, the springs were made softer, the ballast had its weight increased, the LSD has been strengthened a lot to reduce that oh-so-pain-in-the-a** wheelspin. to counteract the understeer the LSD induces, the toe angles have been re-adjusted to give excellent handling and steering response, whilst the car remaining very stable at high speeds and even under heavy braking. just don't forget to use the disappearing line technique.., Tomo?? ISDATCHU?? ;)

i've manage to reduce the "driftiness" of this car, so that it would have more traction and become more stable and predictable to drive. the engine had mots of its components replaced with better ones to bring out the best in it. the gears have been set especially for Citta 'di Aria, the LSD has a quite strong response to give you superb handling and control. enjoy.., :sly:

I myself hate Skylines because of their weight. but i found a certain R34 perfect for me. the powerplant now generates 100+hp more; the engine upgrades were carefully selected in order to maintain low-RPM torque. the exhaust and the flywheel have been matched in order to avoid speed loss in uphill roads, the turbine and intercooler are just the right size for high response and minimal lag, the engine has been balanced to eliminate vibrations. the LSD and rear wing are there to give you that extra grip and increased cornering performance. have fun.., :D

These are my entries, all were built or rebuilt for this specific event. In each class I wanted to have something different. Something that would stand out from the rest, not seen to often and have the judges anticipating for a test drive. All were tuned for this specific track. Tho no one is a garunteed winner im pretty sure the judges will have fun driving these. Two I owned allready one being the RS200 which I never intended on modifiying. The 206 RC is new to the MKT family but Peugot is not. I bought this car and was suprised I didnt own. I didnt go big on horse power staying true to the MKT way (Only use what you need). I figured theres no point in having massive hp and torque on a touge course when you wont even use all of it and it'll probably cause more handling problems. Anyway lets get to it shall we.

I actually fell in love with this thing in less than an hour. While building it I was aiming for a type of tarmac rally car look and feel. I call it the 206 Tarmac It exceeded my expectations but was harder to tune than I thought. Its a drivers car that will do whatever you tell it and makes you push harder and go faster after each and every lap.

This car has no engine modifications beside the racing comp. Its the M3 ST (S turn), one word to describe it: RAW, or BAWLZ perhaps. The machine is a monster even with a pretty stock motor it is a beast. I planned to create a car equal to the M3 GTR but built for tight complex courses like touge. This car has more than enougth HP for this course. Its like keeping a pitbull but on a short leash. It does what you want it to do and attacks apexes. It also as well as the 206 will make you push harder and harder and going faster until you take it to the limit and kill yourself:scared:. This thing will even drift to shave a little time off the clock if you ask her nicely. Was a difficult tune, I actually started this build first, left and built the others, and came back.

Last but definitely not least the RS200 S2T (Stage 2 Tarmac). I aimed for another tarmac rally car and ended up with a F1 inspired gearbox apex killer. This was about as hard to tune as the M3 if not more. I always was enthused by this car and never intended to modify because I considered it a collectors piece. Knowing there were more powerful AWD competing I had to update it and revamp it. A Stage 2 Turbo was installed along with a Stage 3 weight reduction. I figured if im beat when it comes to raw power I better have a great power to weight ratio.

Description: A few things need explaining on this car. First, in this touge battle the gearbox has been tuned to act like a 5spd. A 6spd results in too much spin. Second, I have positive toe on the rear because at most corners and over bumps the car's rear would slide around, that can still happen but it's now more usable then when it just slowed you down and made wheelspin to boot. Again, a soft suspension to suit the touge needs of this competition. Hopefully one of the fastest to enter, this is my FF touge battler.
 
I think I'm going to reserve this little post space for my tuning entries (notice the lack of me talking in this thread. ;)).......so I can spring them up without the competition noticing too much...or even better, not noticing till I'm on the entry list. :mischievous:

This is the FF for all occasions. Originally built at Citta, then further tuning at Fuji against Viper's & Zonda's and then brought back to Citta quicker and more dangerous. This car came from it's mass produced past, been stripped out to BTCC specs (300hp limit) and then thrown between buildings for one scary ride.

Like nearly all FF's, this isn't for complete button mashers, but with it's huge torque capability under 5000rpm, if you ever start wheelspinning, just upshifting fixes it with no real loss in acceleration. I think you will be surprised at the quality of shift between gears. There is also an extreme turbo version of this with 325hp, but it results in a scarier and not as fun ride for most players.

This is the 270NA, the un-released twin sister of the 270R. Originally built as a drifter, this has been through the best of both worlds (circuit & drift) and is a drifter turned touge. Starting with a Silvia Q's, turbocharging wasn't an option, so the gurus at Nismo tore apart the SR20DE and gave it the full overhaul it sorely needed. Everything was lightened and balanced in the aim of improving the agility of an already agile cat. This car was tuned at Citta and those settings were taken to the Nurburgring, where it turned in a sub-7.50 lap time and then unleashed again on the city streets.
This car BEGS to be taken hard, especially through Citta!! :D If you go too hard, sideways action isn't a problem to control, nor is wheelspin....very easy to reign in.

This is the next generation in Mitsubishi's Evo clan, the CZ-Evolution. Using the Colt Ralliart's 1.5L turbo motor, the guys at Ralliart thought it would be a good idea to boost her up. Giving her all their best goodies has boosted this puppy to a claimed '206Kw' with a weight that makes most other AWD's look.....well, fat. Fat like they should be at The Biggest Loser camp.
Tuned at Citta exclusively, this car will blow a CTR2 into the weeds down the 1/4 with current settings and given the short straights of Citta, it suits this car perfectly with it's massive acceleration and deliberately set low top speed.

this car does not have the brakes needed fo this type of raing thus requires you to have extended braking periods, it also oversteers on short turns but understeers a litle on the wide turn right before the hard right where the grandstands are so be carefull. if you take the corner before that well it gets a little sideways and stays there until its either too fast in the turn, or you hae to slow down for the hard right. be carefull with this car as it does not take prisoners.

this is a very harshly tunned fwd car made for just handling. most unsersteer is gone with a slight trail of oversteer (Ripley's believe it or not). it will spin 2nd alot at about 50 mph but dont worry a quick lift and back on gas will fix it. also when it gets sideways comming off the hard right hander if you leave it in 2nd itll straighten itself out pointing almost in the perfect corner exit if the corner was taken as it should.

Notes: First it was an exercise in building a car that could carry the Mazdaspeed name with pride without truly compromising its streetability. Fine, the ride was much stiffer than stock, it was a bit on the loud side, the triple-plate clutch could get a bit grabby, and it ran a twin-screw supercharger for a slight boost in low-end torque and a monster high-RPM scream (harming fuel economy and requiring race fuel for the full-boost pulley set), but it kept the full interior, sound deadening and all, still passed emissions, and didn't scrape too badly on sharp driveways.

Well, that was good enough for a while... Then the speed itch struck. Of course, we had just busted the still-factory-sealed transmission after a few too many launches on drag slicks and powershifts, so bye-bye. We ordered a replacement case for the transmission, strengthened it, had a new set of shafts manufactured for it, along with a custom straight-cut, dog-ring engagement gearset, and reused the old clutch and flywheel. The rear differential ratio was changed to 4.8:1 at that time as well.

Well, the new ratios killed any sense of streetability anyhow, (well over 4 grand in 6th at 70mph) and while the helped acceleration, the rest of the car had fallen behind. The interior was stripped out, anything non-structural and not visible from outside was swiss-cheese'd, most of the body panels were replaced by fiberglass or carbon fiber, and the bumper braces/supports? Ditched for tubular off-road only items. A total of 197kg was shaved out of the car. While it still wears the Mazdaspeed Spec 2 badges... It's an RCV thoroughbred.

Comments: This was the first car I had in the game (hence the name "The Newborn"); therefore, I'm going to keep the parts that were on it when I was first starting the game. This car has some oversteer when you hit the throttle out of the hairpin before T1; otherwise it's very well-behaved. The alternate setup is what I used before I started driving this thing without any aids, and it was even more sharp and neutral-handling.

Notes:Most think that FWD means understeer, wheelspin, and incapability to handle reasonably high power levels. But that's not always the case, as the RCV Integra Type R ST proves. 315 bhp is enough to be quick in a 3500lb car... This car is sub-2500lbs, and as a result, it flies.

Yes, it can and will light the tires in first gear. But then again, a certain Finn's 230hp Focus does the same. Hit second, and hit the throttle. Wheelspin is nearly nonexistant, occurring only when one of the front tires gets skipped over a bump or rut in the pavement. In which case, you lift, but then get back in it. Drive it like you stole it, and have fun getting sideways on occasion.

Oh, and, well, err... It's a bit evil, too. Be wary of oversteer on-throttle. It's NOT the average FF.

Notes: It's not the average GT-R. Unlike most, this car hasn't had the power brought up to ridiculous levels and it's instead built to corner. Almost anyone can drive this car decently, no matter if they're not used to the acceleration and power levels, as it does not have wheelspin issues, and can take corner exit at WOT even at low speeds.

The 1989 base-model GT-R was the lightest GT-R produced, but that comes at a price; it's not as aerodynamic as the newer models and it's been known to have understeer issues compared to the R34. Blame the first-ever ATTESSA system.

We've fixed that understeer issue, just so you know. The aero? Why bother? We built this car for tight circuits and the touge. Aerodynamics play little role below 80 mph, and I promised not to use a wing on this car.
