To go along with my blog post, here's the poll. Did you enable the "Advanced Downloading" feature in the Network Options?

yeap. Didn't notice any speed differences, all files have downloaded in decent speed.
I would think that, when it's implemented, the biggest difference would be that you will be uploading the files as well, instead of just downloading. This will reduce the bandwidth required and load on PD/Sony's servers, as you will be able to get a file from anywhere, even if PD/Sony's servers are down.

I think its a good solution, you can download content even faster and your not depending fully on the servers of PD/Sony. It would be even better if you get a discount on items if you do this, lets say normally its 0.99 euro/dollar, cause you upload aswell, it will only cost .79 euro/dollar. Or maybe some special content will open up, if they do that, more people will activate it i think.

Also, I didnt know this was in the update, it was only cause of the newspost here on gtplanet i found out.

ah and obviously i voted yes :P

That's great. At least they were thinking about us for a change:sly:

I have it enabled, but not planning on using it much.
I hoped it would also work for online races so that, when you enter a value smaller than 512kbps, the game doesn't make you host.

But I don't think they thought of implementing such an option.

I probably won't use it. My upload isn't particuarly good and my connection is used by the family all the time... would be unfair to slow it right down.

I would do it though if it were my own connection. 👍

I've enabled it as it seems to me to be a reasonable solution and I'd like to do my "bit". However, once it starts working I'll keep an eye on the bandwidth it uses, if it grabs too much, I'll have to disable it.

I agreed to participate. But, I have my doubts. Besides, I used my money to buy the game, I pay my monthly internet service bill, and now if I want to watch GT videos I'll have to pay for that too. On the other hand, if it's good for the community that's a motivation to participate. We'll just have to wait and see I guess.

By all means, help save Sony and PD some money on videos they've already charged you for by sharing your bandwidth!

Hmmm, wait, that didn't sound right.

I doubt I'll use it because I likely won't be downloading any GT:TV clips.

I have it enabled but I don't think I'll be of much use because I will never buy any downloaded content. Heard a good suggestion on Teamspeak (let us use those credits we earn in the game). What else can you do with the credits after you have your 146 cars and 2,000,000 credits: sell your cars for a loss and buy them again?

No, but only because I haven't researched everything it affects. If it is only for the GTTV, then I'm not really that interested. But if it will help on updates, then I will try it out.

My thoughts exactly. 💡

I will use it. My experience with *ahem* torrents is that they make downloading large files easier on everybody. Plus, it stops uploading automatically while you're racing online.

EDIT: I think I'll be using GT:TV constantly. There's such a terrible lack of decent race programming here in the States that I'll gladly pay a couple bucks to watch Super GT and Best Motoring, especially. But not Top Gear. I've got other better and easier sources for that. But I'm sure Top Gear will be huge.

Another way sony saves money this is crap if i have a file and a fellow GTP_ wants to download it from my ps3 then it should be free.
For god sakes people don't you see how sony and PD are taken advantage of us.They don't want to spend there money on more servers for there online races and now with GTTV.I'm not turning it on.

umm does P2P works, was there in news section, if you turn it on or off its still OFF.. ?

I downloaded the Ferrari Movie today at GT TV with P2P seemed to be working nice, In about 20-30 minutes my movie was Downloaded :)
sorry for double post! lol.. did not see i was last one to repond!

I just enabled it to download a video.

I won't be paying for any GT-TV content, so the whole "paying so you can distribute their content for them" thing doesn't apply.

I'll Support any idea - that supports the Community, In this case I will share back 100% of the Content I will buy/rent for (laughing) 14 days :) And of course use any Bandwidth necessary for Driving CLean GT5p/FC Racing Online ..

Because of my Brake pedal has broken (Logitech EX (plastic pedals)) I'm not having the joy of Driving GT5p with the last update, I'm Looking forward to experience the Online Fixes - GT-TV isn't for me such a Big thing. But surely when I have cooled down a bit, I can see the Good Idea of having everything in GT5 and in future versions, I just feel a little Cheated By PD AND Bony.. Instead or as well there should have been a new track or at least the California Ferrari. But Not even a Word of WHEN!!

Dream Extreme..
Flagmo-T

I Would like to add, that I would rather and hopefully see GT5 on My 32" HD TV ( Proff Racing Tournaments Program) then Racing TV In my GT5..

PS. I'm also looking forward to experience the Fixes for Ferrari Challenge, It's a great Racing Sim Game as well, Hope to see that it gets as big as GT5 probably will be, In many cases FC is in front of GT5, But only because of PD's Amazing and deeply respected resolution Of making The Racing Game on any Platform, which is honestly deeply appriciated from my side, I'm just a spoiled child, But still not lost, so please PD shape up with Some Word's On "Whats next to come and when" ...

I don't understand the arguments about "paying them to distribute their content", or whatever. There's no negative side effects to the Advanced Download feature. It acts just like a torrent. You buy the right to the content and then you download and upload it like you would a file through uTorrent or Azureus, etc. The only difference is that you have to pay for the program.

So I should get a penny everytime some one uploads from my "Advanced Download Feature" :dopey: Too Bad I don't download anything.
