We now got the points from our Raising the Bonds event. BMW 89 points Vs Aston Martins 47 something. Congrats to all drivers making BMW doing well. But....................
What you all probably forgot is that speed is not all you need in a Bond car.

Bring out the Top Gear Cool Wall. Now we need to check the cars against the "Seriously Uncool", "Uncool", "Cool", and "Sub Zero". Of course an important part of each car's coolness factor rests on the extent to which it will impress Kristin Scott Thomas and Fiona Bruce.

We all know that the Aston Martin DB9 is too cool even to be classified as "Sub-Zero" and that Its so hot It even needs a separate fridge to cool down. T&L have been in contact with Mr Clarkson to get the difference in points between the seriously uncool and the fridge. His answere was short:

"The difference between just Sub Zero and the fridge is 1 000. 000. 000. 000. 000. 000. 000 points. And - because BMW drivers got a small “penis” they should get negative points." However he was not abel to get Hammond on board on this one.

This brings out the following result:

BMW M3 89 points Vs Aston Martin DB9 1 000. 000. 000. 000. 000. 000. 047 points

The winner is ASTON MARTIN DB9​

Close. I don't know how secretive he wants to keep it, but I can tell you this is a one-off event, not a daily event.

Race history - behind the scenes of the Raising the Bonds race​

Fast cars and improbable chases have been key ingredients in the James Bond films since the series began in 1962. Throughout the James Bond series of films and novels Q Branch has given Bond a wide variety of vehicles with which to battle his enemies.

Without doubt the most famous of the Bond cars, and one of the most iconic cars in cinema history, is the Aston Martin DB5 driven by Sean Connery in Goldfinger. But despite its illustrious reputation, the DB5 retains to this day the dubious distinction of recording the slowest time on Top Gear’s Power Laps feature. Maybe if James Bond had been behind the wheel rather than The Stig,

For many years, German cars have played roles in James Bond’s adventures. In 1964, for instance, black Mercedes 190 coupés pursued Bond’s Aston Martin in Goldfinger. A fleet of seven BMW 2000 CS models was used for the promotion of the film You Only Live Twice in 1967.

In summer 1994 GoldenEye was in preparation, and cars were an important element for its success. After the producers visited BMW’s design center in Munich, the decision was made to use BMW as James Bond’s official car. It was the first German car that Bond drove as his official car.

Then in the Casino Royale movie James Bond was back in his Aston Martin. The DBS in the movie had not yet been released, and the car used was in fact not a full production model. No special gadget was visible other than the secret compartments which housed Bond's Walther P99, and an emergency med kit which includes components of an emergency medical link to MI6 HQ, antidotes to various poisons and a small defibrillator. On 20 April 2008 the Aston Martin crashed into an Italian lake while being driven to the set of the next film to be released, Quantum of Solace.

Raising The Bonds guidelines

Thank you for entering the Raising the Bonds race.

The T&L crew with their collaborators Dutch Customs and TLD hope you will enjoy this event.

In the following you’ll find most of the information needed to participate in the event.

- Location: Suzuka Pro No Mercy
- Time: Wednesday from 21.06 / 21.11/ 21.16 / GMT 12.11.08

Making balanced grids

- There is xx drivers who will compete in the Raising the Bonds race.
- Drivers will be divided in three groups: Group 1, Group 2 and Group 3.
- Make sure you know which group you are in and the correct race times for this group.

Verification of the race

- A race is valid if joined by a race host - and it contains more than 4 participants.
- If you can’t connect to the race time due to full grid or DC, start new player matching at once.
- If this race is joined by a host and two other drivers the race will be valid and race results verified.
- Remember you'll need to reach next race start of the race time schedule. Stop joining new race 2 min after original race start if DC.
- Make sure you don’t interfere with the race times for the next group.

Race host

- Members of T&L will host the different races.
- The race host takes part in the race like everyone else.
- To be an official Bond race - one race host and at least 3 other participants need to complete the race.
- The race host, a T&L member, make sure rules of the event are followed.
- A race without a host will not be valid

Race start

- Start of race: 30 second delay, return to original grid positions.

Race rules

- Standard GTP OLR rules and guidelines apply.

Race report

- We realize it will be very difficult to nail the race results, especially if the race time runs out before anyone has finished making it hard to get a final standings classification.

- If you have the opportunity to report back which race you were in, who finished ahead of them etc, we should be able to get a good picture of what happened.

- Please post in the thread to report finishing positions in the following format:

Points and positions

- In each race points will be given for the top three cars of the race:

1st position gets 3 points for the car used
2nd position gets 2 points for the car used
3rd position gets 1 point for the car used


Remember to enjoy yourselves more than anything else, and this is just the first stage in what promises to be another great one-make championship race.

Just a heads up, you put TDL instead of TLD where the tunes are listed.
I'd drive if it was at a time suitable for me, but I'm happy to just provide some tunes.

Is this event still open?? And do we have to drive with the available tunes? or make our own?

I cant see any restrictions about participates, so I think everybody can join in...?

If so, count me in with white BMW... if not, you can %#*# my small *&%#.




ps. Someone guessed it was said by Clarkson... I got deja-vu about it, and I can hear in my mind James May saying that...?

The garages are simply here to cater for different driving styles.

MilkieDJ, I'm not sure on car choice, as I currently don't have either! Will decide tonight.

I guess the race rules and information are to follow soon?

This event is open for everybody to join and I really hope you all do.
Race rules is comming out shortly but as Paulie mentioned this time the tuners just supply tunes, and hopefully they will support different driving styles.

This race its not to pick the best driver or the best tuning garage but simply to award the GTP Bond car make and have some fun while doing it.

This event is just created and are open. You can drive with your own tune. The garage tunes is just a helping hand mate.

I'm not a bond anorak, but am I right in thinking that there hasn't been a BMW M3 in a bond film?

I can only remember the BMW Z8, Z3 (or Z4?) and 750i, along with some random BMW motorbike.

I take it you've choosen the DB9 and M3 as they are well matched? What about the Z4?
