So...I can no longer stand GT5P

I mean, how is it a race if you constantly start in last place. What about time trial placement? How is this a simulator if you start in 16th place then race your way to 1st place? Am I suppose to enjoy this? How is this suppose to be a challenge?

Why didn't they add a qualification feature. Now if only I could qualify in 3rd - to 5th place, and actually struggle to hold my laps...and finish 4th place... THIS would be a race. :grumpy:

I'm a proud owner of a Ford GT, and occasional take it around the track. I guess GT just doesn't cut it for me.

It's not a full game. Go and look up what Prologue means.

I'm sure qualifying for races will be available in GT5.

Really? Got any photos.

As daan said. It's just a preview to the full game.

If I had a Ford GT and a near by race track to take it for a spin at, I would most definitely not spend my time on a god damn video game!

Eh......starting in 4-6th place and making your way to first isn't a challenge. You have got it all backwards mate. From 16th to 1st IS the challenge. I couldn't care less where I start as long as I finish in the top 3.

So yeah, you've got it all wrong...

Well.. Let's not pretend to be stupid. He means a Ford GT as in Ford GT, the very GT. That's the Ford GT I'd say. But I don't believe he has one.

Think youll find the challenge is getting from 16th to 1st in a race :sly:

 at this thread.

I think he is talking about offline racing because getting from 16th to 1st online is very hard unless your a god at GT.

So its not a race if you start dead last? If Jimmie Johnson starts dead last at Texas or if Allen Mcnish were to start dead last at Sebring, its not a race. WTF? Exactly whats idea of racing if this(although not often), despite the fact its happened in real life, isn't racing? Its apparently simulating Driving (and racing) and if you actually watch racing, you would have at least seen a race where someone worked their way through the field and won(Petit Le Mans 2008 anyone?). Apparently, the challenge is passing everyone and winning, Period.

Has it occured to you this is Prologue, not the full GT5? All the features, including Qualifying, will be included in the full game. This sounds more like a problem with starting in the back then it does with the game.

Two things that make that hard to believe:

1. You new here, not many people know you so how do we know you aren't lying

2. No Proof whatsoever, futher leaving many, including me, in doubt.

Thought you could adjust your position. If its because he simply can't get around any of the AI, then its not the games fault.

Why are you lot all bothered by the GT owning statement? Whether or not its true, its a pointless act to mention having one in the first place. As if you are less credible otherwise. %)

I am bothered because if he does not own a GT then he is a liar, and i would rather not associate with dishonest people.

All these silly comments about this guy's GT are getting off topic. It doesn't matter if he does or does not own one - I wouldn't mind knowing how he feels it compares IRL to in Gran Turismo but questioning anything you read on the internet is stupid. Perhaps the reason he brought it up was because that was his reason for buying the game? Who cares.

On topic: This guy is right. Plowing up from 16th to 1st in 3 laps is very poor racing. How often does this occur in real racing? Qualification and improved AI would allow gamers to properly compete with the field rather than use them as bumper cars around the circuit. Racing to me is hunting someone down gradually then pouncing when they slip up under pressure - off line this is never seen in gran turismo.

To all those saying the challenge is starting from a handicapped position then winning, that is ridiculous. By that logic, on Tomb Raider if you choose the hardest difficulty you should have your legs and arms tied together then try to negotiate the levels by sausage rolling.

Edit: And those saying it's only prologue, they have had 5 games to implement a feature present in nearly all forms of motor racing. "It's only prologue" is not an excuse for something which should've been implemented in GT2.

Edit 2: Wait, it was in GT4, wasn't it? I've confused myself now... I'm going back to revising for my exam tomorrow :ouch:

European GP in 2007. Markus Winkelhock qualified in 22nd and was first by the second lap. ;)
So it happens in the majority of racing then?

In the same way it happens in every gran turismo offline race? :sly:

Edit: I'm also going to youtube that, sounds amazing :P

Edit 2: Booooo. All that rain doesn't count, GT doesn't have dynamic weather yet ;)

Can't you adjust the amount of laps in the race? If you can, then there is both yours and this guy's problem.

While I can't give a Specific number, its happened almost every year, though alot of times in Stock car racing. One occurance that sticks out in my mind this year was with Allen Mcnish at Petit Le Mans.

It was first implemented in GT3, then GT4.

Not in the actual "mission" part. And though you can in free race, the AI isn't good enough in Standard physics and is too good in professional physics (since they still run in standard). Either way, it's not really possible to have an enjoyable race with AI. I'm also lucky enough to have a good internet connection hooked up to the PS3, if I didn't GT5p would've not been played for more than a week.

Yes, but not every race.

It'd be like if one of your wheels fell off every race. Sure it happens in motor racing, but not all the time.

And if it was in GT4, I don't see why they wouldn't include it in GT5p - even though it is a "demo", it should still be there in my mind.. Though so should a good AI engine :ouch:

I know ;) .

It was a good example of how exciting motor racing can be though! I didn't follow much of last season since I'd been turned off by the previous few. 2008 was pretty good though, fantastic finale (especially from a british point of view :) ).

he's probably meaning a Ford Fiesta GT

yes it's offtopic

I would.:sly: Get to drive my car at all different tracks around the world through the game, and race against other cars, as well as race other cars I wouldn't normally get to.:)

Unless it's Fuji, then you have a higher chance of being in 1st if you were 16th after turn 1 because of all the punters.:sly:

So jack up the AI difficulty and number of laps if you're too bothered.;)

It's not just their speed, it's their competitve instinct. It's always like being on a track full of old grannies in corvettes. They just let you past then make no attempt to come back at you after you've given up the racing line to overtake.

I agree - if I had a GT it'd rarely end up on a track simply because I'd be worried about totaling it. And when you're at track days no-one is really "properly" racing, not in the same sense as GT5p online :)

The OP's post is suspiciously troll-like, and successfully at that given how many responses there've been...

And you just added another response...........................hang on........uh oh.

We had a guy show up in his modified Ford GTX1 at a recent autocross. This is one of the ones which was modified into a convertable and then tuned to the order of 700+ hp. The owner absolutely would not run the autocross in it. He said it had so much power that he had trouble with wheel-spin even in 4th gear on the highway, and thought there was just no way he could successfully navigate a small autocross course (he has a point, too much power is often a disadvantage in autocross, not an advantage).

I tried my best to convince him that club policy was "if you show up in the coolest car and won't drive it, you have to allow someone who is willing to drive give it a go." I volunteered of course, but he wasn't having any of it :)

What I'd like to know is how is it fair to start a race with a rolling start and let the guy in 1st go full throttle a good 4-5 seconds before you can?
