It's been noted twice and responded to already, this thread is not a discussion thread until the TGS announcements are made. If you don't want to post your guesses, that's fine, but please stop just posting crap in it for no reason.

Thanks

OK so all the talk is about TGS and what's coming down the pipes... there is plenty of speculation (heck this forum has the word speculation built right into the description) so lets put it down as to what we think is going to be announced.

At least until TGS is here and announcements are official, please do not respond, critique or otherwise post anything towards other peoples guesses, just let people put it out there and see what we have.

It will be fun to look back after all is said and done and see who hit it on the nail and what ideas make you think "how did I ever think that was gonna happen?".

So put it out there, try to be short but concise and feel free to say pretty much anything you think will become official at TGS!

I will start it out:

=======================

I think the release date will be 2009 and probably right around xmas time.

I think we will see a dissapointing number of tracks at launch - I hate to say it but that 20+60 seems quite possible as in 20 courses with an average of 4 alternate configurations of each totally 80. This may include things as minor as like each section of a WRC course counting as a course and changing pit lane entrance as a different course.

I think we will see 170 cars with full damage (mechanical and cosmetic) and that those cars will be the ones with some kind of enhanced interior modeling.

I am still torn on the meaning on full interior modeling but I am going to go with every car has a cockpit view and from the straight ahead view everything is modeled. But as you look around, the "premium" cars may have more stuff modeled than the others. The engine modeling thing also sounds like a potential answer though...

I think the remaining not 170 cars will still have mechanical damage but not cosmetic -this I think is due to the time it takes to model all the damage and make sure it looks appropriate (so diferent shaped door panels, different hoods etc are properly bent and deformed and the texture damage is appropriate).

I think the head tracking feature will be similar to TRACKIR style rotating head tracking.

I don't think we will see dynamic weather (and definitely not live weather as in the weather the track is currently experiencing right now is produced in game). However I think we will see different weather portrayed at different times (ie it won't shift during a race, but you might race in the rain on one race but in the sun on another race).

I don't think we will see dynamic time, (and definitely not live time as in the track is the appropriate time of day in game for wherever the track really is in real life a la Metropolis Street Racer). However I do think we will see races at different times of day on the same courses.

So have at it! Comment on the same points I touched on, add your own, do what you like. Just please keep the discussion out of it until TGS hits, dicuss in other threads if you like, but keep this one just your post about your guesses as to what will come out at TGS for now!:dopey:

What i posted at Neogaf:

--------------------------

Well, TGS is only a week away, so why not put down our predictions to see who gets it right.

1040 cars (since they always round up to the smaller number). All with cockpit, racing cars with damage.

Damage is the same we saw at gamescon, only hoods, doors, trunk going off. Scratches, but no dents or serious deformation. Redeeming factor is, rollovers and the mechanichal aspect of the damage are nice.

Carrear mode similar to GT4, sunday cup, endurance hall and stuff. WRC and Nascar are fictional championships. Example: Nascar will race at Daytona, Indianapolis, Motegi, Test Course, High Speed Ring.
WRC will race on tracks, with two cars on it all the time.

No Porsches. Poor selection of Ferraris, Lambos and Buggatis (not enough race cars from those brands, and also, only a few RUF's)

Bunch of stuff i will not care, like enhancments to B-spec, Photomode, eyetracking, GTTV partnerships to provide new content.

Online mode has what we expect. Minor enhancements on tuning, some body kit instalation with liveries.

Some historical mistakes on the tuning still there, like the tires not having names, instead they will be chosen on a R1-R5 fictional way. Same to other tweaks, instead of the real-life names.

Tire pressure and better tire wear.

Night, day, dusk races and wet or dry enviroments. Still think it won't be dynamic because we just can't have everything we want at once.

Oh, and btw, i hope they remember my longtime request to be able to turn the mo:censored: HUD off!

Release date: December 3rd, when the original PSX will be having it's 15th birthday.

👍

i think the time is coming to announce a release date!

please KY do it :guilty: my waiting is coming to an end 👎

What could come of it? Well...

We may get improved damage and rollover to rival FM3, tyre marks, interiors for all cars, undercarriage modellled, a good selection of aero parts, simple body colour paint shop, weight reduction reflected on interiors of cars and perhaps, drag racing. This wouldn't happen this year but the TGS feature list would have these things and a great trailer to show off the potential.

Chances of a livery editor as good as FM3, tyre deformation, dynamic weather and time of day, and improved smoke effects are very slim, in my opinion due, to development time and PS3 hardware constraints.

That was the best case scenario. The could rush it, have different quality car models, no improved damage or rollover and, once again, no tyre marks, I would also imagine undercarriage will also not be modelled if there will be no rollover in GT5. That would be very disappointing but, maybe, salvageable with patches and DLC. Still, lots of people with still buy it, but it would certainly give FM3 the upper hand. Not such a bad thing, PD and KY might actually start paying attention to us fans and give us what we've been asking to compete with the new emerging leader in console driving game franchises.

At this point it's anyone's guess. With PD's marketing strategy and lack of community spirit, it's difficult to form an opinion. I can only wish for a big improvement in this area as it's been really lacking.

Well, a release date will obviously be announced. I believe it'll be late November or early December.

I think they will confirm that all 1000+ vehicles have cockpit view (or perhaps most do, with others eventually being added through game patches), but only certain vehicles have damage.

No Porsches.

Real-time day/night cycle.

Photomode, ability to upload replays to Youtube.

Online modes.

Release date in the second half of November.

170 Premium models i.e. Racing cars that would not be upgradeable, will roll over, will have doors and hoods that come detached; if the door comes unhinged, you'd be able to see it from the interior (kinda like the GC Subaru). Other cars will also have mechanical damage but the cosmetic damage will be very limited (scratches, loose bumpers). All cars will have interiors.

Most of the media shown will revolve around new manufacturers, especially Ferrari & Lambo (more focus on classic cars).

~24-25 tracks (very, very few rally tracks with a lot of layouts. 2-3 NASCAR tracks, Daytona, Indiana, Infineon).

Some tracks will have night or wet as alternate layouts. No rain, static time.

Improved sounds, same visuals (Improved shadows at best).

A paint editor that would allow you to change colors of individual body parts (Hood, doors, boot, bumpers). Decal packages. So basically very limited visual customization but I'm absolutely certain that there will be some very basic kind of customization.

Earlier tracks would look crap, new ones will look stunning.

No Porsche.

Prologue Spec IV

50 to 60 tracks (some with different layouts e.g. Suzuka, Suzuka East & Suzuka West). I expect more real race tracks (possibly the tracks seen on the weather forecast on Prologue)
Release Date- Late November/Early December
Around 1000 cars
Time of day and weather selection on the menu (Arcade) or randomly selected (GT Mode)
Possibly a trailer that shows some of the car brands that will be included for the first time in a GT game and some of the new tracks.

My thoughts:

  • 1000+ vehicles
  • Rain and Snow [either dynamic or static]
  • A livery editor
  • Release date announced - for this year
  • Online mode is fleshed out in detail
  • PSEye head tracking is explained and shown
  • Customizable license plates
  • Limited Edition version shown

What is the point in regurgitating the obvious? I could understand it if you had added your own twist on things, but all I see here is repeats of what has already been said in other threads several times over...

I agree 100% it serves no purpose whatsoever.

In 2 days time, at TGS, PD will announce pretty much what we saw on that list prior to E3, no more, no less. Damage is improved but not much, only race cars, no roll over, no undercarriage, no tyre marks. Worse still, only about a third of the car models are premium, 100% GT5 quality. But. KY will come on stage an promise that within 3 year cycle he will perfect damage on all cars with patches to make it more realistic than any other driving game on the market today with rollover and while modelling the undercarriage on every car in the game at premium standard. KY also promises that with free DLC, he will also make all the car models premium within that time. KY also confirms his development team has found new ways to get more power from the PS3 and as a result he's very sure he will be able to incorporate improved particle effects with fantastic looking tyre smoke and tyre marks. Last but not least KY mentions that PD are also looking at simulating tyre deformation. We are then greeted with a playable demo of GT5 with what it has so far and a phenomenal looking concept trailer of what's to come in the next 3 years.

Guys, the thread specifically asks that you not respond or post anythign other than your expectations and why with no discussion.

If you don't want to participate or don't like it, fine, please simply move on.

Pot calling the kettle black eh? Your post participated how, exactly?

Not realy, come on, I copied and pasted my post from another thread as it also had relevance on here.

Davedander is simply saying he wants the thread to stay on topic and not be derailed...

On-Topic: It could go a many ways, after all KY did say a "Major Advancement" is coming. Sometimes competition and being put under pressure brings the best in people, sometimes, look at T10...👍

Oh and Nomino it's not the pot calling the kettle black because it's my thread.
LMAO! Not a discussion thread until the TGS announcements are made?! If you don't want things to get DISCUSSED, don't create threads in DISCUSSION FORUMS. Simple as that really.

Your thread eh? Are you paying money towards the hosting fees and bandwidth used? You might disagree, but I am free to express my opinions as I see fit, and I happen to think that this thread is totally unnecessary in the face of all the other post-GamesCon and pre-TGS threads that say exactly the same thing.

You can't beg people not to flame you for starting a thread which asks for info already posted in another thread.

ie. here: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=119879

Nor can you tell people what to post in a thread. So don't do that.

Just read through the above linked thread and you will see our opinions on what we hope and feel will be announced.

Over 200 threads have been closed in the GT5 forum to-date due to their pointlessness. Just thought I'd point that out.

Come on lads let's stay on topic please. Davedander take Nomino's name off from the first post, you're just giving him credit and it will definetly derail the thread. Nomino just agree to disagree mate. In 2 days we'll disscuss the TGS GT5 news to death.:)

As ever, the voice of reason 👍

However, this thread should not even be around to get derailed. But, you are right, in a few days we will all hopefully know what there is to know, and continue to speculate the rest!

  • Dynamic weather
  • Porsche reveal
  • Spa in (pleaaaasseee!)
  • It's awesome
  • It's out this year

<win>

OK Spa and Porsche would make me pretty giddy to be honest.

Off-Topic
I tend to support all threads that had work put in them because I hardly ever go all out and make the effort to start a thread. It looks to me like Devedander had good intentions for this thread, looking at first post quite a bit of work went into it. There is so much content on GTP it's so diffcult to know sometimes if a subject has been covered in two or ten bloody threads. You both make very valid points though, he wants his thread how he invisioned it, fair enough, and you want the freedom to post on a forum which is not owned by him and you're not breaking any forum rules, natural...

My predictions: gtplanet's forum unreachable a couple of times during TGS. First outage right after the live-blogging of any keynote; second outage when massive screenshots/movieclips are dumped.

third outage when Jordan reveals he's releasing GTPX in december of 2009.

Oh. My! :P
