Help me out people. An article about car songs is coming up in the mag I work for, and guess who has to compile-write something about it?

So, I'm listening. I already have contemplated "Little Deuce Coupe", "Mercedes Benz", "Sleeper (by Blazing Halley, coolest hot rod song ever)", "Dead Man's Curve", "Lowrider", "Mustang Sally", "Hot Rod Lincoln", and a couple of mexican tracks to give some space to local stuff, but heck, there are SO MANY from where to choose... of course, I'd favor street racing, relentless driving and high horsepower songs, as the mag is about modified cars. Metallica's "Fuel"? Sprinsgteen's "Racing in the streets"? "Maybelline?" "Red Barchetta"? I hear you people. Show me some light.

Hot Rod Herman's remix of Rob Zombie's Dragula. I dare anyone to listen to that and not drive a bit more spiritedly. A specific favorite of mine is Filter Hey Man Nice Shot. I've got a ton but I'll leave it at that.

Songs about cars?

Chris Rea - Daytona

White Zombie - Black Sunshine

"Red Barchetta"?
Red barchetta, real racing footage, and GT3 footage. Does it get any better?

*"I'm in love with my car" - Queen.
*"Don't stop me now" - Queen.
*"Born to be wild" - Steppenwolf.
*"Born to be wild (Cover) - Hinder.
*Highway star" - Deep Purple.
*"Going Mobile" - The Who.
*"Radar love" - Golden Earring.
*"Fast cars" - Bon Jovi.
*"Free whel burning" - Judas Priest.
*"Turbo lover" - Judas Priest.
*"Bat out of hell" - Meat Loaf.
*"Red Barchetta" - Rush.

Well, those are the ones in my iPod. Good luck with your work to do Cano.

dang, intresting ones so far!! I did not know a lot of what has been posted here!!! keep them coming guys, i'll post my entire list when it's ready :0

Dangit! Someone beat me to Gary Numan. Oh well this is what I've got...

Stay With Her Johnny By Richie Kavanagh

Driving down the block - kidz in the hall (More of a song for crusing)

Panama by Van Halen, apparently it's about David Lee Roth's car.

They actually used Eddie's Lamborghini when you can hear the car revving during the quiet bit. For me though all Feeder, Van Halen and Led Zeppelin Songs are driving songs for me.

Sammy Hagar: Heavy Metal and I can't drive 55
Beach Boys: Fun, Fun, Fun, Shutdown, I get around
Jan and Dean: Deadman's Curve
Foreigner:Rev on the Redline

Ok people, I have the entire list now, it reads, in no particular order, as follows:

-Beach Boys - Little Deuce Coupe
-Thomas Dolby - The key to her Ferrari (thanks Rue, wicked tune)
-Jan & Dean - Dead Man's Curve
-Janis Joplin - Mercedes Benz
-Yucatán A-Go-Go - Alma de Acero ("Steel Soul", mexican rock song about a fire-breathing, Porsche-eating, turbocharged, nitroused, big-blocked Camaro)
-Beto Quintanilla - Le compré la muerte a mi hijo ("I bought death to my son", mexican northern folk song about a father who buys his son a LS1 Camaro and the 15-year-old brat crashes and dies)
-Mustang Sally - Bonny Rice
-Red Barchetta - Rush
-Bruce Springsteen - Cadillac Ranch (no list of mine could be complete without abandoned cars rusting to the ground)
-Lowrider - War

Many songs in here were considered but not included because they were almost impossible to translate to spanish without them sounding like complete crap, and also because some of them were not literally about cars and I already had my not literally about cars song -mercedes benz- but I indeed apreciate all the stuff you guys mentioned, I found some cool music while I was at it too!

I'll update this post when the article comes out and will post scans of it, along with the drawings I'm doing for each of the songs. This, of course, when it all appears. Until then, many thanks again GTP, you helped to save my ass (:
