It's a fairly quick, reasonable-handling, attempt at being a Honda Civic. It doesn't do a bad job, and I love mine, but still... I'm going with "meh".

Take really old platform that wasn't that good to begin with, despite being saddled with one of Ford Europe's most legendary badges. Attempt to make a "Sports Coupe" out of it...

and then end up selling it alongside the arguably even sportier Focus at the end of the cycle.

As good as the car is, and it is, its uncool because it just is. Its pretty much average across the board except for the bland front end.

-90's and early 2000's styling was horrid at best, I've dropped prettier turds than this.
-not seriously uncool because it doesn't deserve the recognition, I wouldn't turn my head to glare at it like I would a Pontiac Aztek because it just isn't worth the .001 calorie

This car, to me, is neither cool nor uncool. My brother almost got one for his first car, but a POS Taurus was given to him instead. I wanted this car like nothing else.

Still isn't cool though, but it's good enough to not warrant an uncool.

Seriously Uncool, it deserves this just from the looks. The fact that it has the same name as one of the coolest cars ever, the Escort Mk1 Mexico, makes it awful as this is just bland and pathetic.

Seems just like the US equivalent of the Puma, but whereas that was a pretty cool car and drove very well, this just seems like a Toyota Celica-alike.

Absolutely not.

Firstly it's a Ford Escort, a car synonymous with either drear or rice. Secondly, it's presumably been designed to ape every 1990s middle-of-the-road Japanese coupe around. Thirdly, it pretty much failed at doing so. No, no, no, no. Ghastly looking thing.
