Yes, really. A results thread. Stop the press. I've subscribed to the (somewhat paraphrased) Douglas Adams rule of publishing - leaving it as late as possible until told to just finish the page you're on and post it - so here's the thread in all its unfinished glory. Edit: I don't know why the CODE boxes are in teeny weeny eyestrain-o-vision. Just be thankful you've got a thread at all, mmkay?
2.5 days, 7 events, 8 drivers, 39 cars, 65 races. All events stolen from previous UK and SF GTPs, plus a new Clio Endurance track. 2 LANs of 4, becoming 1 LAN of 6 when The Grim Reaper left on Sunday evening.

1st event: 70s Babies Handicap
Originally raced at SFGTP3.
All drivers start off in the first, fastest car. When a driver wins, they move down into the next, slightly slower car. The overall winner is the driver who wins a race in the slowest car. On this occasion the winner on each LAN moved down 2 cars, and second place moved down 1. So that daan and The Grim Reaper could remain in their playseats, the other 2 drivers on LAN 2 swapped places after each race with whoever finished in the same positions on LAN 1 – this remained the case for the whole weekend.

One of the better handling muscle cars, Roo and daan manage to hold the revs nearest the redline to take a win each and move down to the Dome, while Sureboss and homeforsummer advance to the Plymouth.

Another circuit with a honking long straight, suiting the muscle cars that redlined just short of the first corner. Hurling the Dome through the final turns would put the nose right on the bumper of the Americana, before 24 cylinders of Detroit iron vanished into the distance. Car-less and homeforsummer join daan and Roo in the Dome, whilst Famine moves into the car of massive nostrils and Sureboss becomes the first into the Europa.

Famine wins on LAN 1 despite the handling disadvantage to the Dome on Autumn Ring’s twisty bits, and the Europa proves too sideways for Sureboss, allowing Jondot to his first podium. Famine, Roo and daan all jump into Europas, and homeforsummer takes the series lead by dropping into the BMW.

The Europa’s grunt keeps it ahead of the 2002 on LAN 1, whilst on LAN 2 Jondot proves the handicap system works by winning in the Super Bee, meaning in 5 races over 2 LANs all 8 drivers have won. Sureboss, Roo and daan all get their mitts on the Skyline.

For the fourth race in a row, Roo and daan finish second on their respective LANs, moving into the penultimate car – the Alpine of evil handling, along with homeforsummer after his BMW win. Sureboss, meanwhile, by winning in the Skyline buzzbox, becomes the first into the last car, the Galant.

The Grim Reaper does the zero-to-hero bit by winning in the Dome after 2 fourth places on the bounce. Car-less follows him home to advance to the Japanese lawnmower. On LAN 1, 4 cars take the traditional line through Turn 1 – into the gravel. The Alpine is even more sideways than the Europa; Famine canters to an easy victory, while Roo takes advantage of a mistake from Jondot to snatch second and join Sureboss in the final car.

daan makes a mistake at the bottom of the first hill, allowing Roo through into a lead he wouldn’t lose and his first solo series victory since UKGTP7. Apparently this is known as ‘host advantage’.

2nd event: Al Gore Eco Challenge Pick’n’Mix

6 cars, 6 races. Every driver must use every car once – but the tracks are not revealed until the race itself... do you get rid of the slow-but-well-handling MINI first, or use the half decent Jazz whilst everyone else is using the rubbish stuff? Points awarded on a 7-4-2-1 basis, with 1 point for fastest lap. Oh, and the catch: all cars have to use Eco tyres. No fear of excessive tyre wear here (unless you’re daan – no fear of excessive tyre wear anywhere).

5th event: Clio Endurance
An old favourite, raced every LAN since UKGTP5. Using the Renaultsport Clio V6 Race Car, drivers are teamed up according to their event results so far for 50 laps of an unannounced circuit, picked by the host. Every time a team pits, they must change driver. Each team must also decide, if they have a mix of manual and auto drivers, which gearbox to go for. The Grim Reaper announced he needed to leave ASAP after the race (a death nearby, presumably), so his equipment was removed and the LAN restarted with 3 cars.

The circuit:
Opera Paris. Because it’s one of my favourite circuits, and we don’t race on it enough.
As Car-less and Jondot are both auto drivers, their teams needed to work out a gearbox compromise. Famine and I are more or less gearbox ambidextrous, so we let Jondot have an automatic, whilst Car-less agreed to use manual.

1st event: 70s Babies Handicap
Originally raced at SFGTP3.
All drivers start off in the first, fastest car. When a driver wins, they move down into the next, slightly slower car. The overall winner is the driver who wins a race in the slowest car. On this occasion the winner on each LAN moved down 2 cars, and second place moved down 1. So that daan and The Grim Reaper could remain in their playseats, the other 2 drivers on LAN 2 swapped places after each race with whoever finished in the same positions on LAN 1 – this remained the case for the whole weekend.

One of the better handling muscle cars, Roo and daan manage to hold the revs nearest the redline to take a win each and move down to the Dome, while Sureboss and homeforsummer advance to the Plymouth.

Another circuit with a honking long straight, suiting the muscle cars that redlined just short of the first corner. Hurling the Dome through the final turns would put the nose right on the bumper of the Americana, before 24 cylinders of Detroit iron vanished into the distance. Car-less and homeforsummer join daan and Roo in the Dome, whilst Famine moves into the car of massive nostrils and Sureboss becomes the first into the Europa.

Famine wins on LAN 1 despite the handling disadvantage to the Dome on Autumn Ring’s twisty bits, and the Europa proves too sideways for Sureboss, allowing Jondot to his first podium. Famine, Roo and daan all jump into Europas, and homeforsummer takes the series lead by dropping into the BMW.

For the fourth race in a row, Roo and daan finish second on their respective LANs, moving into the penultimate car – the Alpine of evil handling, along with homeforsummer after his BMW win. Sureboss, meanwhile, by winning in the Skyline buzzbox, becomes the first into the last car, the Galant.

The Grim Reaper does the zero-to-hero bit by winning in the Dome after 2 fourth places on the bounce. Car-less follows him home to advance to the Japanese lawnmower. On LAN 1, 4 cars take the traditional line through Turn 1 – into the gravel. The Alpine is even more sideways than the Europa; Famine canters to an easy victory, while Roo takes advantage of a mistake from Jondot to snatch second and join Sureboss in the final car.

Every driver must use every car once – but the tracks are not revealed until the race itself... do you get rid of the slow-but-well-handling MINI first, or use the half decent Jazz whilst everyone else is using the rubbish stuff? Points awarded on a 7-4-2-1 basis, with 1 point for fastest lap. Oh, and the catch: all cars have to use Eco tyres. No fear of excessive tyre wear here (unless you’re daan – no fear of excessive tyre wear anywhere).

5th event: Clio Endurance
An old favourite, raced every LAN since UKGTP5. Using the Renaultsport Clio V6 Race Car, drivers are teamed up according to their event results so far for 50 laps of an unannounced circuit, picked by the host. Every time a team pits, they must change driver. Each team must also decide, if they have a mix of manual and auto drivers, which gearbox to go for. The Grim Reaper announced he needed to leave ASAP after the race (a death nearby, presumably), so his equipment was removed and the LAN restarted with 3 cars.

The circuit:
Opera Paris. Because it’s one of my favourite circuits, and we don’t race on it enough.
As Car-less and Jondot are both auto drivers, their teams needed to work out a gearbox compromise. Famine and I are more or less gearbox ambidextrous, so we let Jondot have an automatic, whilst Car-less agreed to use manual.
