With the first stage complete we move on to the first of the Special Conditions Cup rounds. Stage 2 takes place at the well known Tsukuba Circuit, but how well will you cope with the soaking wet track as well as all the spray?

Feel free to discuss sector times but please don't mention lap times or total race time.

General Information and Regulations

All rules, regulations, car specifications, and races are controlled by TGT4 sanctioning body, GTMSA. Any and all questions should be directed to GTMSA officials (namely me ABud) and officials will do their best to answer in a timely and accurate manner.

All drivers must run at the specified weights and horsepower settings provided by GTMSA for each round.

  • Standard Online Racing Rules Apply.
  • No Cheating, hybrids, etc. You must run the car specifications I give you
  • Try keeping at least 2 wheels on course. Long races = small mishaps, but absolutely NO shortcuts
  • No wall-riding as well. Combined with penalties, this will slow you down considerably, so don't do it.
  • All decisions by GTMSA officials are final
  • Curbs/rumble strips count as track

If a driver doesn't manage to submit a time for a particular stage a penalty time will be assigned, calculated as follows:

110% of the slowest time.

Eg. If the slowest time is 19'25.346 the penalty time for all non submitting racers will be:

21'00.365

Also if a driver joins the series part way through their GC time for the races missed will be calculated in the same way

I've already spent quite a bit of time on this one, and it's super fun. 👍 Be forewarned, though, that smooth and elegant driving is not the way to set fast times here; you really have to yank on the controls and take ugly lines. If there's one thing to keep in mind, it's that exit speed is almost the only thing that matters, so "diamonding" the corners is the way to go. Also, remember that TCS isn't allowed, but don't worry; second gear is very controllable. :)

My best splits in my fastest race so far are 16.229 - 36.985, although I've seen better at both sectors.

Austin343, thanks for the tips. I have almost no time on this scenario so I will need all the help I can get. OldmodelT leaving 5 mph on the straights is a big help too!

i don't think i'm going to be able to do this round. not going to be able to go online for the next few day. hopefully i'll be back next round.:)

hmmm...loosing tons of time on second sector compared to Austin343

17.102
40.301

I can't get anywhere near Austin343's T2 time either (not that that suprises me). My best is 38.9xx though I've not managed to repeat the feat!

If we only need to submit a lap time, why does it matter how many laps we have it set at?

Because it will give you an exact time for your race. Not a guess at what point you are crossing the finish line. Your replay will also show what your time is., car hp, wt., tyres used. In case Abud needs verification.

That was an oversight on his part; I'm pretty sure that he copied last week's post and forgot to clarify that the total time of the race is what you need to submit.

Austin343's right, it's the race time that I'm after. Sorry about the mistake I'll correct it now.

I did a bunch of laps last night. That is pretty darn fun! I had to practice for a bit first before trying the race scenario. I used Austin343's advice and started doing my turns in three arcs with a late, deep apex. It's cool how it gets so difficult to counter-steer when it starts to grope for traction. I am in the 17.00/40.00 range on a couple of laps but will need a great deal of luck to get 4 laps in without getting three wheels off the track at some point.

I did a few laps as a drift car also,, that is pretty cool as a novelty.

I decided that I'm not realistically going to be able to improve on my best time, so I've submitted. There was probably about a second at most for me to find, and it's just too hard to hit all of the braking and turn-in points that precisely on four laps in a row.

DS2 users have an enormous advantage, I think, and that will be true of all of the special conditions races. I can't imagine using the wheel to perform the steering inputs that I'm making with the controller; it would require a superhuman ability to spin the wheel around absurdly quickly, and would probably cause the wheel to catch fire. :dunce:

As an aside, it's very weird to drive a different car after being in this one for a while, particularly on the wet surface; anything else feels like it's really "digging in" to the track because the Elise is so floaty.

I thought I'd beat Austin343 posting a replay of his video. Saw it on YouTube. :banghead: I'm going to my room to cry.

Nice run as usual. 👍

It's just not fair.

Great time Austin343. I thought you'd probably get into the 4'30s and so you did! It's still pretty close behind him though, I guess the rally stages will spread the field out more (not in my favour tho!)

Well, I probably did have more practice than you guys. :dopey: It kept sucking me back in, with the promise of better lap times attracting me again and again. I think my first time was something like 4'44, and then I went back for a 4'42, a 4'40, a 4'39, a 4'38.5, and finally a 4'38.0. I just couldn't manage to finish four laps in a row that were faster, which is going to happen at all of these special conditions races.
