the Apex magazine

Hi,

I have a question regarding the Apex magazine: Does it include all cars and tracks as can be seen on a picture somewhere else on this forum, or is that only limited to the Signature Edition book?

Thanks, Mark

I'm fairly certain, thought not 100% positive, but all of the Apex Magazines are the same in all collector editions with the exception of the Japanese one being printed in Japanese.

They are all described the same and as all having about 300 pages. :)

Signature Edition
Reminiscent of a no-expense-spared supercar launch, this luxury edition puts the pedal to the metal as soon as you open its contoured steel case – which is finished in Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG ‘Obsidian Black’. As well as the game, the ‘Apex’ driver’s magazine and the ChromeLine car pack, you’ll get:

• An exclusive, branded Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG 1:43 scale model car
• A Gran Turismo leather wallet and metal Gran Turismo key fob
• A Signature Edition coffee table book featuring the beautiful cars and locations of Gran Turismo
• A bespoke Gran Turismo 5 USB key with a trailer showing the collaboration between Mercedes-Benz and Polyphony that brought the SLS AMG to screen
• Six additional in-game ‘Stealth’ cars including the McLaren F1 and the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and a dynamic theme
• For those 18 or over and resident in a participating country, the chance to win a real-life Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG – your very own gull-winged, 6.3-litre-engined supercar - in a competition like no other! Full terms and conditions will be made available shortly here on www.eu.gran-turismo.com.

That is what me got wondering, like to have that book...looks like its time for money saving :)

Judging from this photo:

this "coffe table book" should be that fake-carbon-fibered hard-cover album on the right.

Since it's size iz merely bigger than game-box (and Apex is the same size as game-box because of the packaging reasons for Collectors), you can hardly even call it a "book" :) And it is noticably thinner than Apex as we can see.

However, it will probably be a nice addition to the overall package.

According to the Japan region official website the APEX book contains...

Chapter 1:Driving Techniques
Chapter 2:Mechanism
Chapter 3:Tuning & Settings
Chapter 4:Photo Mode
Chapter 5:Course Index
Chapter 6:Car Index

Taking on board approx 300 pages and the "Car Index" being the last chapter.

We see above 12 cars per page and starting on page 220
We know 1000+ cars are expected so simple math would mean their are over 80 pages of cars included.

I think this will be a great addition to the game as a reference for easily comparing cars particulary for 2nd hand car purchases.

As for the SE the "Coffee Table Book" is different and I feel it will likely show "Photo Mode" images from within the game.

For me this is going to go down as a "Historic Game" and personally Ive never waited as long for a single game in my life.
I only pre-ordered the SE yesterday having been chewing over it for sometime but dont think I will regret it.

Thanks - that was indeed the picture I was referring to. :)

I doubt that will be the full list - look at the Audi lineup for example. The only normal cars will just be the A2, the R8 and possibly the TT ?

Its likely a mock up image.. Also the page numbers are not perhaps accurate but this is an example of what to expect.
Thier Im sure will be more than 3 Alpha Romeos as well :)

The rest of the Alfas on are on the page before this one, likewise for the Audis, on the page after this one....

I can vaguely remember the manual for GT2 here in Australia having about 100 pages dedicated to car setup.

But I can still hardly believe the only Aston we'll get in premium trim will be the DB9...... What about the V8 and V12 Vantage, Rapide, DBS, One-77,etc?

I mean I don't expect all of these, but the DBS and the V8 Vantage I do:ill:

But to jump straight from the A2 to the R8 is a but suspect, no?

And there have been license issues with Aston Martin, which may or may not have been resolved too late (if at all, properly).

I'd imagine if they get the license sorted after release I would imagine them putting them up as DLC...

Then again there is still more premiums to come..

If you look at the coloured sections in front of the car pictures it appears to be listed according to drivetrain ( FF, FR, MR, etc. ) starting with FF ( and the Audi A2 was the only FF Audi in GT4 ) followed by a few MR Audi's.
If you look at the last Alfa listed, it is the AWD Brera ( AWD coming last in the case of Alfa, maybe in other cases it's RR, etc. when available ) so those AWD Audi's ( as the majority of the road cars in GT4 were ) are most likely on the next page.:)

Bingo. I may be a slight bit intoxicated at the moment, but surely the RS6, etc should slot in there alphabetically and numerically and possiblp phonetically, grammatically, indecently, etc. And the lack of any new cars in that picture (the DB9/DB9.1 doesn't count) sorta indicated they've butchered those pages so they don't spoil anything.

Interesting theory. I think you might just be right; although the (apparent) choice of ordering of drivetrains seems a touch odd to me:
FR, FF, MR, 4WD <-> RR

Then again, my choice would probably seem just as arbitrary to most people.
FF, FR, MR, RR, 4WD.

Disappointed, if it is an accurate list, that there are no FF Audis other than the A2.

If this list is accurate or up to date ( and I'm pretty sure it's ordered by drivetrain ) it indeed rules out for example the new A1.
And I'll have to agree that it would also appear more logical to me to start with FF as opposed to FR and end with AWD ( which does seem to be the case ).
Maybe FR is chosen as it's the most conventional set up historically?

Oh man do I ever need to read that many times over. I hope it's really in depth! Thanks for the info 👍

No they aren't. The US one is said to have 300+ pages while the EU one says 200+. One is said to be a book while the other a magazine.

Could be that 200+ pages are driving techniques etc and the final.. say 100 are for the cars..

Cars are still part of the book so why separate them? Sorry but it makes absolutely no sense.

The US will not get the SE. Perhaps they added the cars to their APEX book. And we will have to buy the SE for the cars. It explains the difference in pages.

We know the US doesn't get the SE. Makes sense, I guess.

That was my first thought when I first saw those two pages from The Apex book. Hopefully, we will get more than the DB9 at release or at least as DLC. Everybody loves Astons!

This eliminates the need for a strategy guide. I had one for GT3 - the actual strategy portion of it I found pointless, but it had a section that just listed every car from every manufacturer along with its stats. Very helpful.

Or could the cars they show in the book be only the premium cars?
