Okay, so I bought one of my favourite cars from GT4. Whereas in GT4 the cars drifting and sliding was very fun and challenging, in GT5 its just plain frustrating, maybe because its more realistic.

Anyone got any tuning for this? I dont want to completely civilise it, just tone it down a touch or 2.

Having trouble with the steering myself, has a mind of its own, loses control quite easily, anyone had any luck taming it?

I'm having a blast using it, the only mods I have done are Full Customizable Suspension and Medium Racing tire. I posted this on another thread (about a RUF '86GTR), but there is no reason why I shouldn't post it here as well.

The rear toe and camber settings were a major improvement in control. The car is incredibly fun to drive, no longer on a razors edge ALL THE TIME. It takes some practice, I actually spent a few hours just beating it on Eiger lap after lap today. I also thought I would NEVER be using it for competition, but I tried and easily won a few Professional Events (Turbo and German Make races) with it. (easy $36k for the High Speed Ring Turbo race, lapping around 1:09, 3 lap race)

It's far from complete, especially if I add more power mods. I'm just modding it and driving it a step at a time.

If it's not your thing I understand, but once you kinda get the hang of driving it, it's VERY satisfying. Please share your thoughts or suggestions!

That really is a good tune there. I've just tried it and it's like driving a totally different car. I think it takes a little too much of the character from the car so I'll be trying to turn it down a little, but still!

Hah, thanks and I do understand what you're saying. It's much tamer, which does take away from the original legend of the car.

I'm thinking about throwing some more power mods into the car to make it a little more of a handful again

Don't get me wrong it really is a good tune - you can actually use it in races now! The problem is that you can throw it carelessly into corners and the back still doesn't slide out - you've done too good a job (and this is after installing all HP mods)!

Any suggestions as to how to tone it down a little?

No, only mods are medium racing tires and full suspension, lots more power to be had!

To "loosen it up" a bit I would just set the rear camber and toe to half of what they are from stock to my tune, or you could always use Sport tires.

I'm loving this tune.
Thanks for sharing.
I added the lsd and set it to 7/20/40, it has helped a lot under braking and corner exit.
The settings combined allowed me to drop just under 12 seconds off my lap times at Laguna Raceway.
I'm off to Nurb to earn 59k a lap.

Why do people like this car so much? I bought one to use in the 2nd German cup thing in Expert.

I was able to win stock (plus Racing Hard tires) on Cape Ring, with a lot of good driving. On Nurburgring it's just a joke. I slammed into every single wall before giving it up.

I'll try this tune tomorrow and see if I can do it. Otherwise I might just tune my BMW M3 and use that.

This car is really fun to drive, but not exactly fast. Even when you keep it on the road it's like driving on ice so you never actually get to put any power down. You spend all the time fighting it and have a hard time actually going fast.

Definitely interesting though.

I thought that might be part of it. I don't have quite the skills of that guy though. I kept expecting him to eat it on every corner (and straight, for that matter).

Driving that car, fast, in real life, is taking your life in your hands. That's a brave (or stupid) man.

CleanLx, thanks for the drivetrain tips. I'll try it out this afternoon!

I'd like to know how it worked out for you. I'm not the greater driver but I started off slowly, tuning and lapping on Eiger and eventually getting a good feel for the car and being able to get in and out of turns quickly. Not exactly fast? I haven't used it on many tracks, but while doing the Expert Turbo race on High Speed Ring it can hit the low 180's on the main straight/banking. It's not "race car" but that's without ANY power mods at all, just tires and suspension. There's much more power to be had.

You almost have to drive it with anticipation rather than reaction.

In the German make race at Nurb last night I had a tough time getting into the lead, yet still ran a very conservative 7:41.x (first lap on Nurb in this car) and I’m not a Nurb pro by any stretch.
It was enough for a comfortable win.

At the high speed ring, again, driving conservatively laps in the mid 1:08’s are easily repeatable.

That is the beauty of this car, drive it with deliberateness and respect and it goes quite well.

Actually used this car stock with racing mediums to win the SuperCar Festival… that was very difficult, but with this tune it should be a sure thing.

Do you guys feel its best to leave the HP stock?? If not what is the limit before its too much or can i max it all the way in the 700+. Cause its hard to manage there and i don't really think its making me any faster.

I left it stock hp so it would be competitive in races (german make race, supercar festival... likely others?) so I don't know what mo-power would do to rich's settings.
I did do an engine rebuild... and chassis rebuild.

bought an LSD and made adjustments, damn! You can actually almost floor it out of some turns now!

I don't know if I should do any non-reversible power mods. Maybe I'll just add the lv 3 Turbo and leave it.

Ive searched for the thread on tuning the yellow bird. Is that it? Making those simple alterations to a fully done up yellow bird?

Okay so I did this tune. Not too shabby at all. I did not to the LSD as the other guy was saying. I'm not sure if this is stock brake set up but i set mine at 5 and 5. Anyways car isnt too bad. Using it on european challenge in extreme. It takes a little bit of skill to drive as in it will drift right off your hands in a turn if your not careful. Other then that, yeah i believe the beat is tamed. Oh yeah minor upgrades... Exhaust, intake, ECU.

I made the mistake to boost the car when i got it (Since in GT4 it was so useable) . It now has 550 Hp and lightest weight possible and this tune will not help it, even with racing soft..it will still slide all over the place when exiting corners..and when i turn TC up (5-6), it is even more frustrating as it kills the acceleration too much..

I haven't raised the power in mine but as far as the TC goes, I wouldn't use it at all. Sometimes you need the wheelspin to set the car, or rotate it through a corner. Any TC will just cut the throttle and work against you.

Definitely. But it was just too uncontrollable without any TC. Either that or i lose too much time feathering the accelerator. I shouldnt have tuned it up :(.

Maybe I just have the knack for this car or something but I can tear it up pretty good without tuning it and medium modding. It has like 600hp?, 2nd stage weight reduction, cluth/flywheel, pretty much everything else except stage 3 engine tune and only a medium rpm turbo.

I have mine boosted. I just realized its almost pushing 680hp. I have no problems with driving it as tuned above. No gas in turns, minimal coming out until it has control.

This clip is worth seeing for those who haven't http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6Thomd4BQg

This car is out to kill anyone stupid enough to turn the ignition. Can you tame it? Tuning away the loose ass kills the personality and the fun of the challenge IMO. Finally after waiting since release, I found the car in used car lot and this is definitely the most fun car so far. Premium or not. I play with a G25 and I drive with manual shifting and heel-toe. Driving on the limit with this car is a much better workout than jogging or lifting iron. Arms and legs fly everywhere :scared:

I have left everything stock/untouched except adding more power. That can be controlled with the gas pedal after all. 694bhp/1150kg. Will consider removing weight but I'm scared to alter the handling.

My first post here. Hey GTP! Anyways, I got the RUF yesterday and it is now pushing 679hp/5xxTQ and this thing is a beast! I am currently fine tuning the suspension to where it will be a good drift car. I'll keep you guys posted

My first post, I came here looking for the Yellow Bird info, and got it. Awesome.
I have two, one stock an still yellow. The other is fully modded, no expense spared. (remove some turbo if i want to get serious, most fun at about 600hp) 731hp 10 miles after fresh oil. I saw the tune posted, and read the comments, people like it, it must work. Very different than mine. I will try it after i write this. I use more camber, front and rear, as much as 5.5, -.20 toe minimum in front. in back I stay positive with oem as the minimum. I like my LSD initial at about 20, accel at 50 and decel at 40. Understeer, believe it or not, I correct with a softer front spring and a tighter rear antiroll than the front.(opposite of pictured tune) Though I do get understeer, available power more than corrects it, its rarely a problem, I deal with it.
Rome... Punch it, stab the brake down to 3rd, drift 3rd to 4th gear through first two rights, continue WOT up to the first gear right turn, hard brakes 10/8 ABS 3, TCS3, dont wait to stop sliding before I punch it asasp (as soon as safely possible) down the hill into the right flick (sometimes brush wall) and barely drift it, if at all, through 4th into 5th for the long right, stab the brake, pop it down to 4th smash the gas threading the needle getting ready to drift in 3rd all the way around the last two rights and straight up the starting stretch. I wish I had a video for you guys, it doesnt happen every lap, 2 of 5 though, and I get five tries every time I want $98,000. I dont use it on many other tracks, cause this one is so fun I dont feel the need to. The 2nd/stock one I will do all but engine tune, since I can remove parts at will. But for now my heart is set on getting money for an X1 I will paint pink. yes, I will spank unsuspecting open lobby random victims in a Pink X1. race soft tires first, allways. no other aid. level 27 and counting fast. Cheers.

Is there a tune for this now that is accepted as generally good? I've done the bit above but it's not a full tune. Most cars have full tunes for them?

Thanks
