Another day off because of snow, so I used it to do what I wanted to do in GT5 for a long time (since I've watched that clip for the first time couple of years ago):

Here is my description from You Tube:

Gran Turismo 5 RUF CTR 'Yellowbird' hotlapping at Nurburgring Nordschleife racetrack.

My personal tribute to this guy:

whoever is he, insane bravery and driving skills! He is MAD!

My lap is nowhere near as good as his. I just wanted to see how hard can it be and well... the asnswer is simple: VERY!

No aids (TCS off, ASM off, ABS off), sports medium tyres. I used G25 racing wheel, clutch + H-shift manual gears.

Recorded with X10 mobile phone :(

Info about the car: Ruf CTR - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Info about the track: Nürburgring - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thanks for watching!

Whoever said standard cars would suck should be eating their words now.

Nice lap 👍

Also pretty cool that the videos are both the exact same length. Dunno if it was on purpose.

Thanks for kind words lads. The lap Ive recorded wasn't anywhere near the best lap I did yesterday, but quite a few I messed up at the end. In the end I decided to go a bit slower at the end of lap just to make sure I'd complete the lap :)

My laptime was 8'06.4xx, I reckon I could get it down about 10s, but as this was not about the fastest laptime possible, but just to enjoy a nice session of driving, I left it like that.

BTW that car is really difficult to keep straight on sports tyreswhile driving fast, but very very enjoyable! Give it a go :)

Thanks for watching! :)

I have had a passenger ride in a CTR - unfortunately it was red, not yellow - and it was just incredible. That is one ultimate machine. When my friend, who owns it, turned the boost up from 0.8bar to 1.1bar and booted it....wow.

For the future, try leaving the camera on a sturdy platform instead of holding onto it, that's my only gripe.. awesome driving, I'm waiting for a CTR or a yellowbird to show up on my used lots.

Yea it sounds way better then GT4. Doing a lap around the Ring in this car is one of the reasons why I loved GT4 so much, now in GT5 quality it must be great. Can't wait to do it again!

Quick question, when does the Ring become unlocked, I still don't see it in Practice mode.

Thanks for tip and kid words :)

It's a great fun!

I don't want to spoil it for everybody so if you don't know how to unlock Nordschleife in Arcade and Practice mode, look away now...

Thanks! Haven't tried that portion of the game out. Taking my time with this bad boy.

Yes! Great driving man! The CTR is one of my favorite supercars ever. I did a similar tribute with Forza 3 and the Fanatec wheel a while back and have been meaning to do the same with GT5 and the G25 wheel. Unfortunately, I haven't found a CTR for purchase yet in GT5, but it's on as soon as I get one!

Here's my FM3 version if you are curious: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPbrWdJLTGE

Good video, nice driving. Though it looks like your Yellowbird had a bit more grip than mine :) Try it in GT5 with sports tyres and prepare for shock :)

Oh man, you are making me want to just get up and get out of work and just head home and do work on GT5 until the CTR shows up so I can take it out for a spin. I love the ridiculousness of it all and less grip = more fun for me!

Same here. I could just put racing tyres on and I'm sure I will blitz the track no problem, but I just wanted to enjoy the car as it is :)

Oh well, I'm just starting to work on my next personal challenge (just need the money to buy the car) :)

I'll give it a shot and post my video here, to answer your question is quite simple. This guy shares the same passion for cars and speed as many of us here, I know i've done similar things out on long stretches of road that carry through the country side, when your out there doing this stuff it's like a different mode kicks in and it just naturally comes to you what you need to do to get that car through the turn. It's like being one with the car, you can feel every little thing, the bumps, your rear tires starting to loose traction, the weight transfering around the car.. I love that feeling!!

That's one of my favorite video's of all time and has a cult following amongst Porsche fanatics... there is a 2nd part to it.

The driver is Stefan Roser. He was the RUF test driver back in the 80/90's. The Yellowbird in that video was set up specifically to show off Stefan's high speed drifting skills... ie; set up to oversteer even more than that model of 911 already did.

I always have a little smile at the slip on's and white socks

Some nice driving in your video 👍

Here are another couple of nice 911 vids... from the Spa 6h race... Pascal Pandelaar is the driver (from the Holland I believe...

This one has some trully incredible driving skills

And here's a clip from the outside going down to Eau Rouge... check out the huge black lines he leaves as massive speeds in such an old car

Thanks a lot for your answers. I've found out his name literally 2 days ago and edited text below the video on You Tube. The guy is unbeliveble

Thanks for posting some nice vids as well 👍

Off to buy car for my new challenge, when finished (probably tomorrow) I will post it here in Video section :)

Stotty +1 for Pascal. I think his style is the nature of the beast as the series he runs in has to run period tyre types i.e. cross-plys on only a 5J or 6J rim. Either way, Uber impressive...

I felt very disappointed to see that not a single RUF is a premium model :( i hope it gets patched...

If anybody has the RUF Yellow Bird and would like to gift it to me for a day, i'll do a nurburgring run and gift the car back.

Thank you!

Great lap.

I might have to change my comfort tires only philosophy with this beast!

Thanks, if you complete a single flying lap using Yellowbird and comfort tyres please post it here. Would love to see it. Good luck

Same here. Yellowbird SHOULD be premium car. This car is a legend.

I still use mine quite often and would not like to get rid of it, but if you keep looking in second hand car market I'm sure you will find it sooner or later. Good luck

uff, that's a good news. I thought I lost my driving skills cuz i couldn't do a single lap without at least one crash.
yesterday was my first day in yelowbird i guess i'm gonna do better tonight.

I also have this lap in a playlist since a long time.
It´s one of the best recorded laps at the ring.
I tryed to make this in GT4 my setup was the arcade car with N1 tyres time at the end 7.59 with less drifting than the real one ;)

To make a realistic setup in GT5 i think you have to put at least hard sportstyres on it maybe even standarttyres N2 or N3. :sly:

I didn't pickup the yellow bird when I had a chance in the used car lot. Watching this video makes me realize I made a mistake :P

I'll be posting my version soon. Though I used comfort hard tires to goof around. I quite enjoyed the challenge! :dopey:

Me and GTP_EBK2 was having some fun with yellow bird with N2 tires on the ring few weeks ago :) Its a real challenge for sure 👍 Wish I could post a video of it.. Where is the youtube uploader who PD advertised!

The best lap I got with that combo was 8.13 (no upgrades or setup tweaks) if anyone want to challenge me :sly:
