What are you guys choosing?

I have an RX-7 eFini from the dealership and an RX-7 Bathurst I got in the Used Car Dealership.

Currently getting about 6th in a stock Bathurst with 296hp and 1108kg (all ive done is wing and lightened the car).

This is a really fun race, im currently lapping about 1.02 to 1.03 but im scared more power will make it an uncontrollable beast.

I've tried two different RX-7's and both of them could not gain any time on the leader whatsoever.

Currently trying the RX-7 GT-X from the dealer. They're all really torquey so you lose tons of traction on the exit of all the slow corners on Tsukuba.

The GT-X is fairly heavy and doesnt have as much torque so im going to try not reducing the weight and setting times by increasing the HP gradually.

EDIT: Going to find a good LSD setting to reduce this crazy power oversteer. Ill update when I find something that works.

Used the Rx-7 from the dealer, the '02. Put it up to 389 hp and threw everything on it.. couldn't make any ground up on the leader... got to 2nd midway through lap 9 and couldn't catch the leader in the last lap and a half.. hopefully I can play with the suspension and tune settings to get it working right. :)

Loving these seasonal events.. :D

Mind posting your tune? Im having terrible problems with insane wheelspin out of these wee corners and faffing about with the LSD is a pain.

Skid recovery makes these challenges easy mode, I kinda feel guilty....

Did you get gold with using skid recovery? I tried it once and I've only managed second place. I'm about 18 seconds off the leader :grumpy:

Same here, was around 14 seconds off the leader, was hard to lap much faster than mid 1:01's for me. Car just seems to want to go straight, then go straight, then turn a little bit, then go straight some more.

No one has ever said that.:nervous:

the rx7 race is actually quite easy.
I bought an rx7 (dont remember the model) with 197Hp
bought a catalytic convertor which brought it up to exactly 204HP
Used the customizable tranny and reduced the topspeed a bit (dont remember the #)
I was in 1st place by the 3 to 4th lap.

The AI brakes unnecessarily on a few turns, thats where you can easily overtake a bunch of em.

Ok, cleared the event, had skid recovery on, and used this setup, went sideways a lot, but was around 2 seconds/lap faster for me and ended up 6 seconds ahead of #2.

Stormbringer: Pretty sure you're talking about a the other RX-7 event at Deep Forest, and not the one that was just released today. Here the AI starts out around 40 seconds ahead of you, and you can use a car closer to 400 HP.

hNNGH. Leader got 10:9.9, i got 10:23.7 =(

I won this first try. I did have Skid Recovery on, though. Was able to lap consistently around 60 seconds, best lap was about a 59.4.

I used the '02 RX-7 Spirit R Type A (FD) from the new car dealership.

Mods:
All weight reduction: Stage 3, window, hood
Chassis Reinforcement
ECU, Stage 3 engine tune
Sports Intake Manifold
Sports Exhaust Manifold
Sports Catalytic Converter
Sports Exhaust
Custom Transmission
Twin-plate clutch
Semi-racing flywheel
Adjustable LSD
Carbon driveshaft
Custom Suspension

Settings:
Aero : 0 (didn't realize the car came with aero kit, so didn't touch it)
Transmission: top speed 240 km/h (about 149 MPH?)
LSD : 40/60/5
Brakes : default (5/5)

Suspension settings:
Ride Height : -10 / -10
Spring Rate : 12.6 / 9.5
Dampers (E) : 5 / 6
Dampers (C) : 5 / 6
Anti-Roll Bars : 3 / 4
Camber : 2.5 / 1.5
Toe : 0.00 / 0.10

EDIT: Without Skid Recovery, and with these settings, I was able to get a 1:01.7 after a few laps of practice, and I think I could get into the low 1:01s with a little more practice. Which probably wouldn't be enough to win this race... If somebody can win it without Skid Recovery on, my hat is off to you... :) That matches up well with what JacobN posted a few posts ago, that Skid Recovery is probably worth about 2 sec per lap.

To be honest, I gave up trying to sim this race. Turned on the skid control option for the first time. Turns the car into a rocket. It's so juiced I can still drift corners on that track with it turned on. No way I'm wrastlin' that car around without it. Maybe if I wasn't on a gamepad.

After seeing all your hard work, I had to try out your settings. I already had the car with slightly different power mods but set up the same gearbox, suspension & diff settings as yourself.
Excellent work there mate, it works a dream. 👍

First try, easy 2nd while getting into a rhythm and learning the car. 2nd time I took the lead early in the final lap, 7 x 1.00 laps with 3 in the 0.59s. Tip: ignore the lead clock, just keep your eye on your lap times as the leader (I think) gets caught in traffic lapping cars late on and the lead suddenly crashes down in the final 2 or 3 laps.

Hello everybody.

This is quite hard indeed.
I've managed to get a second place 2.7 second off the leader.

Average lap time: 1:01:000.
With warm tires, you should get 1:00:500 to have some chances I guess.

I think I can win this with some tries, but honestly I think I've hit my limit so I give up.

RX-7 (new, from dealer) , 399 BHP, full tuned with aero parts too.

No aids, except ABS 1.

I used the Barthurst tuned to exactly 394bhp fully lightened and geared to 137mph-this is the perfect ratio's for the track as you can take all of the hairpins in 3rd and just reach the redline in 6th at the end of the straight and the acceleration is brutal!! My only problems are the car seems to be a little understeery on turn in and mid corner and is two easy to powerslide on the way out. Can anyone give useful advice on this?? Currently lapping around the 1:01 mark and getting to second but still around 9sec off of the leader.

Try a bit of toe-out in the front and toe-in on the rear.

Thank-you for the info!

These settings made this race soooo much fun & way more enjoyable that before I tuned & turned on skid recovery 👍:)

I won it 1st try with these settings + a wing and maximum downforce.

Consistent 59 second laps & a Total time of 9:58

Thank you for your setup. Aside from the N/A Tunes (I don't know what I installed to get it to 391 HP), the car worked perfectly but I also used the option that has mild (name is escaping me). All of my lap times were within 1 minute to 1:01.1xx My fastest lap time ironically came on my roughest lap, when I bashed into the side of the MNP Skyline on the last lap trying to pass him in the 2nd to last corner as he was being held up by a slower Nissan (team orders on the manufacturer would have had the Skyline win). Now off to finish up the last 2 bonus races.
