Automatic Bspec grinding

Earlier today I wanted to grind Bspec but found that having to go back to my ps3 was getting to be rather annoying. I tried to find a way to automate the racing process(mostly be able to navigate through the menus) with my turbo controller but realized that I need to push either circle also(this would quit the race) or the down arrow to get out of the screen that shows the xp my driver gained.

In trying to devise a way to make my dpad go down(turbo controllers apparently cant automate the dpad) I was searching for something in my apartment that oscillated back and forth, when I saw my fan.

I also used:
  • A stapler
  • Two cups weighted with batteries/whatever else I could fine(to keep the controller from moving)
  • Rubber bands to provide tension.
  • Binder clips to attach rubber bands to.
  • A can of chili

Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere :).

-------------

I changed the design:

Now I am using fishing line. The fishing line is attached to the fan via the binder clip. The fishing line is attached to one of my girlfriends hairties, and the hairtie is wrapped around the left stick of the controller. I found the elasticity of the hairtie prevented the controller from being pulled up from the pressure of the fan pulling on it.

I have a stapler resting on the x button, note that I am using a turbo controller that I for locally for $30.

Can of chili is there for moral support.

I had that feeling initially as well. But I realized that I am hitting start and walking away for 15-20 minutes anyways so I did not see it as too "unethical."

never said i jugde you ... i just dont understand "why" ... its like loading others save game just you can say "i've finished the game"
imo i buy game to "play" them ... not to "finish" them.
(not agains you in person but in general ... don't know how to say it the right way XD)

lol that is sheer genius. 👍

I really don't mind pushing the buttons as I am in no hurry but everyone plays the game differently.

When GT Anywhere comes around, I know someone's gonna come up with a fancy script that controls B-Spec automatically from the PC.

Until then, long live, chili can.

Any chance of a typed description how to do this? Can't see the video from work?

Sure, I can type it up later tonight when I get home from work. I made some modifications because it seemed like the rubber bands were stretching and not working as well.

And the reason I do this is so I can make Bob grind for me all night and while I am away.

I like this, gold star for being clever.
Used rubber banding in GT3 for the oval, was good times.

Good times yes... LEFT driving Oval. Keeping the Escudo banging to the right, not to hit other cars or the pit. Sure victory, while doing other things :)

Wait I don't get how this works. So the fan makes the D-pad move back and forth....and?

I usually don't get these things and usually don't care for them. But this one actually interests me

EDIT: now I get it now after reading it again

Sorry, I couldn't resist (the nitpickers would say you're missing an apostrophe...depending on where you put it, choose 1 or 2 below ;-))

The fishing line is attached to one of my girlfriends hairties

1. How many girlfriends you got anyway?

or

2. Aha....she doesn't need the hairtie....we know what you're up to while Bob's at work!

Dude; nice creativity spree!

For the people who talk down on this; If they would have made this less tedious, and if whe didnt need to grind to get to a certain level; then yeah. But we actually want to play the game instead of pushing a button every 10 sec (thats not racing imo). I dont have one of thos efancy fans; so i just set a timer to press the down button myself. So not Bspec, but Aspec grind for me while i bang the misses. (spelling?)

does it still only work on a single race though? I tried setup last night, worked perfect but clicked dream car champ series and woke of this morning to a black screen. I turned off PS3 manually and restarted it. I may have earned my 20,000,000 cr but I may of had to restart without a game save due to black screen so when gtlife came up I was at 12,000,000 cr as before bedtime last night. Confused, this is a prefered method to auto a-spec as I enjoy earning my exp in that on my own.

This is so true. I cannot believe any person out there, is going to sit through the 24 hour races, that can't be paused, pushing a button every now and again. As well as this being totally pointless, the actual health implications of sitting in front of a screen for 24 hours, are beyond contemplation.

How PD and Sony haven't been publicly blasted for these events, I have no idea. I cannot remember a more irresponsible concept in a game... ever. Talk about fuelling the "gaming is bad for you" fire... sheesh. And that's without even going into the "green" side of the issue.

jugglingj0hn,

This is great! Why didn't you think of this back in December? 24hour is best grind for me now. Maybe I'll use it for the Aire of Experience trophy if I find a cheap rapid fire controller somewhere.

+1! Considering Blizzard had to redesign World of Warcraft for the Asian market after people *died* playing the game for too long a period, thereafter setting a hard limit of 4 hours playtime per session, I'm amazed Sony/PD even considered releasing a system that requires such a long and uninterruptable investment of time, let alone making it that we have to grind such races repeatedly!

Then again, think of the money Sony'll be making replacing burned out machines...

has anybody tried auto b-spec grinding yet with 2 usb keyboards? One with the enter key taped down, the other with the [down arrow] key taped down? i'm going to give this a try tonight after i stop by goodwill to pick up an extra keyboard.

I'm looking forward to your results as turbo controllers are upwards of $30 and USB keyboards are dirt cheap.

Unfortunately no luck. It appears that the PS3 only recognizes 1 keyboard at a time, which puts you back at square 1.
