This is something we did on the forza forum before.

I want you to post your best lap times with cars that are completely unmodified.

It'll be nice to compare it to the times of real life cars. You can find a pretty good list here

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nürburgring_lap_times#Production_vehicles
http://petrolsmell.com/2010/04/20/nurburgring-fastest-lap-times/
http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?fID=0&gID=3&tID=10073&viewThread=y

The rules are:

One lap around the standard Nurburgring track.

Tyre wear on or off, you decide.

"Real" track edges.

Completely stock car. No changes or upgrades. You are not allowed to change the tires! Of course oilchanges and service on old cars are allowed.

You are not allowed to cut corners.

This is not a competition! Don't lie about your time. This is just for comparing GT times VS real world times.

Post your time like this:

Time - Year make model - Assists - Tire wear: ON/OFF - PSN-name - Real time(if possible)

Good job on following your own directions. What about the other aids? And tire wear? Track edge "Real" or "Low"?

ABS was the only driving aid i used. Of course i drive with Real track edge! :)
I'll add tire wear

I did a lap with the McLaren F1. Its hard to keep it on the track without any assists!
But after a couple of laps i did a good time. 7.24.761
Try to beat that without any assists :)

Love the Ring so been doing this a while and keeping track in excel spreadsheet. All these are 'stock' cars fitted with sports hard tires run on ring in practice time trial, real edge grip.
Have more times recorded, modified cars, race cars with race hards or low power <350hp on comfort softs.

Nice Times guys. I have some more times myself. I will post them all on the list when I get home to my computer on Sunday :)

Hi gang!
I'm new here and I'm just wodering why don't you test the OEM cars with racing soft tires?
I do know that you want to try the car in boned stock configuration but in real life I would test my OEM car with racing slick...
I did some laping session and for me the first things to do is to get installed some racing tires.

Wouldn´t It be nice to see some more production cars in this list. Like cars you as a person could actually buy. From the list, I couln´t afford anything. Don´t get me wrong, I like the idea. But sooner or later, when people start putting more times up, this list could reach 1000+ cars... You would actually have a pretty good list about the cars performance.

You should start making this into Excel.

Will contribute to this list, from next week on. Get´s me to learn the Ring more. 👍

Great times! Are you driving with controller or wheel?
I got my Fanatec carrera now and i'm driving with that. I use the clutch and shifter if the real car has it.

But im still much faster with the controller.. i hope i will learn to be faster with the wheel soon.

No i would like to see how fast the car is from the factory. I'm sure lots of people use racing tires on the ring, but if we drove all cars with racing tires the times wouldn't match the real car.

I'm actually impressed with how good the times ingame match the real times!

Just out of curiosity how can you be comparing the gt5 times to real world times if you allow tyre wear off? I'm pretty sure the real world drivers do not have this option.

I think its fair to say tyre wear off should not even be an option.

Great idea. I've been buying cars to complete my garage, but now I have a reason to go drive them too!

I agree I might run a Civic type R, instead of a raceing machine.:)

I can do a lot better. still getting used to the wheel.. I always try to do certified laps that dont get red so if i just go a little bit offroad i have to restart :)

I'm using the Carrera as well. I use the clutch + h Shifter on cars that dont have paddles (XKR had paddles). Make sure you set you wheel settings in GT5 to Sim. I played about a week with it on Amateur before switching it, was 100% better after switching and instantly was 2-3s Faster on TGTT. Yea, I always do clean laps (non red times), and usually only 2 laps. One to warm up / learn the car then a hot lap. The C6Z06 I did 3 though.

How do you turn on Tire wear in practice?

realism.
Main reason for me is grip, also why you don't see many 'normal' cars on my list. I like to have to use throttle control, with racing tires or even sports tires when <350hp you can just mash the throttle / brake.

Racing softs are dumb far too much grip even in the 1000hp prototypes 5:43 in the Toyota GT-One and it looks so terribly unrealistic in replay.

Those are some great times with controller. I'm G25 and H-shift where appropriate.

Ok! You've got good lap times then.
What settings do you have on the wheel? I think the wheel feels a bit slow sometimes. It has to much resistance when turning fast.
