I set out to build something similar to chilicoke and bugmans cockpits as well as a few others.... the only thing is I have to put mine away when I'm done, so I've made the seat/seat frame area detach fromt he main wheel/pedal frame section. and when I finish the console it will also detach. here are a few poor pics (i'm a mechanic not a photographer) of my work in progress

Its going to be a real neat clean rig when its finished. If you can't make the photos better, at least make them bigger next time! :)

I still have to build the floor section, as I needed it raised a bit so I wasn't looking up at my tv.....also have to build the console for my shifter as well as an ebrake, plus a cup holder for my beer, lol.... the seat will be able to slide forward and back, but thats it for adjustability as onlly I will use it. I set the pedals to where I felt best, and I got a good tilt on the wheel to give it a race car feel while still maintaining a flat, level dash pad...... once I finish the frame up I'll fill the yet to be constructed floor area, as well as the dash and console with some pleather wrapped MDF or similar.... feel free to critique or comment.... Jeff

I also made sure to design my wheel mount with holes to hard mount my G27, and will do the same with my shifter.....obviously as the pedals are inverted they will be hardmounted as well...

I'm not very good with photos and stuff....but I didn't want them to be like the ones you have to scroll right with to see em all,, as that drives me nuts.... I know one is real small, but the rest are okay aren't they? if not I'll make em bigger,, thanks bro, jeff

No worries! You can go up to around 800 pixels wide quite happily. Or whatever you did for the bottom one in the first post, that looks pretty good.

ya, it's a sic seat.....right out of a real racecar so you can't beat that.....but the main reason I choose it is because it's all aluminum and super light....which makes that section easier to pick up and put away after gaming...

Pretty sweet! I'm going to be welding up a frame soon, not sure of design but i'm going to invert the pedals for sure. How did you decide on the "firewall" angle and pedal height?

I pretty much clamped and tacked everything together and sat in the seat and tried it over and over till it felt right... but after the frame was all welded up the pedal angle wasn't quite right still so if you look hard you can probably see that the 2 bars for the pedals are offset a bit on the frame to change the angle yet again..... really trial and error is all it was.. good luck

I actually made sure it would before building it, lol, as it can't stay in the living room all the time.... it's about 28 inches total width,, 30inch doorways minus about an inch for the open door on it's hinges,, I got about an inch to spare.... I won't pinch my fingers right?? lmao

just waiting for the paint to dry and then I'll reassemble,, should have some pics tomorrow of the finished, or close to finished product.

all painted, just need to tidy up some wires, etc... tried it out tonight and it's amazing the difference....well worth all the time and effort...

and all I have to do to put the big hunk of steel away is loosen up 5 wingnut style bolts and it pulls apart in about 30 seconds.. the main piece is still pretty heavy, but it's managable...

Yeah buddy, that turned out damn cool, and again, that seat makes it look like a SERIOUS rig!

I believe I said that this was going to be one real neat clean rig when it was finished, and sir, that is one real neat clean rig. You did not disappoint.

I like it but there looks to be a small problem.
If you tried it dont you think the shifter/handbrake is too far back, especially with the side things on the seat?

ya, I don't know if it's the pics or the seat makes it look decieving or what, but no, I don't find it to far back at all, in fact I moved it around alot before settling on that spot, as it's nice and close to the wheel for quick snappy shifts, but still very comfy.. that is though, why the handbrake is on the angle it is.. to have the shifter just where I liked it, the handbrake is a bit to far back to have running in line with the console...

also keep in mind that part of the seat wraps around your torso and runs UNDER your armpits.. so it really doesn't affect movement of you arm at all.

I'm planning on adding some tactile transducers, or "bass shakers" shortly... I'm undecided on exactly how to power them though,, I do have an old car amp that would work well if I can get a power source rigged up for it so that may be the route I go.
