I do wonder about the FTO Touring Car you mentioned earlier. On my list, it's under a million, but you say yours is nearer to 2 million? I got most/all my prices from mygranturismo.net, so I can't confirm how accurate the prices are.

Edit: I'm going to add these here as well, seeing as most (all?) can not be traded as well, probably due to the fact that they are worth a million when new.

Less than 10% of the cars in the game, but only 19 of these cars are always available to buy. Out of these 76 cars, 23 of them are prize cars (with overlaps to those always available to buy).

I might be wrong too. I'm at work at the moment so I cannot confirm. I thought that was what I paid for it.

Price does not necessarily indicate exclusivity. The Tommykaira ZZII was extremely rare to me (just found one in the UCD a few days ago), yet is very affordable.

You can borrow/loan them from a friend's garage to use, but you can not gift/trade them (i.e. you can not transfer ownership).

Edit: let's keep this thread as an information only thread. It's good to have a list for people to see which cars can not be traded/gifted anymore. There are plenty of other threads that can be used for opinions on the update itself.

Pretty short list, if you think about it.

It is a short list indeed, who knew that 7.3% of cars in the game were the only reason that 95% of people felt any urge to actually play the game?

It is not the percentage of actual cars that are difficult to obtain that ticks most people off. It is the actual hours of mindless grinding that it takes to obtain them. If they could be obtained via challenging 30-60 minute races it would be fine.
It is illogical to say that the game is designed to be a grind. The game is designed to be a cheat! Easy A-spec and B-spec races that you can "tune" into an easy win in exchange for cash and cars? That is a cheat. If the game was designed to be 100% about rewarding improved driving skills, there would be no tuning and just one make races against tough AI opponents. But they build in cheats, and then they force you to grind away for eons if you want to obtain some cool cars. Silliness. If they are going to stick with this new rule, they need to publish new races with high payouts, challenging, sure, but not impossible, or just increase the amount of credits exponentially for the extreme series races. The endurance races are silliness for most gamers (I relish the idea of someday attempting the 24 Hrs at Lemans with some of my friends, but it is silliness to expect a single player to do it with no save mode.)
By my very rough calculations, you would have to grind at Indy 2,200 times in order to purchase to 20 most expensive cars on this list (and I rounded up to 100,000 credits from whatever it actually is). Assuming 5 minutes per grind, I think that adds up to over 180 hours of grinding. Assume we are not mindless robots and can maybe spend 5 hours a week doing this on average, and most people will take 36 weeks of GRINDING (not, you know, enjoying the game) just to earn enough credits to purchase the most expensive 20 cars in the game.
That is idiotic.
I really enjoy racing online with my friends, I like the physics engine. But gamers should have access to 100% of the cars and paints after playing through the extreme A-Spec races, the licenses, and the special events.

You can't go by that list, or the price of the cars to determine what is and is not tradable. There are many cars costing less than 1 million credits that are also not tradeable. This, like many aspects of this game seems to be completely random and either not thought out at all, or has some mysterious and unlexplained reasoning behind it.

You can still trade tickets, so getting expensive cars is not completely dead. The one trade per day per console is going to hurt people who have more than one child, friend, spouse, etc. that uses the same console.

I believe I have worked out what exactly is the cutoff limit in terms of value of the car determining if it can be traded (courtesy mygranturismo.net). It is NOT just the 76 cars, there are 18 more that cannot be traded as well. This includes the FTO Super Touring Car, all but 2 Paganis, and most LM cars. The most expensive car that should be tradeable is the Audi A4 Touring Car 2004. I will test this out tomorrow to see if that is indeed the cutoff.

"It is the actual hours of mindless grinding that it takes to obtain them." THIS im beyond happy rare cars are becoming rare. I never duped or anything my trades were real. But the fact i cant say, win a car, sell it, an repeat for cash ticks me off.

Thanks, Blitz. If that's the case, then it's probably these ones as well:

Stated by Bombe32, and I agree: It's possible the million dollar limit applies to the *new* value of a car (i.e. a new 0-mile Veyron is 20 million, but a used one is less). So while a car may be just below a million, the value of the car is a million, and therefore can no longer be traded (like the Maxi 5, FTO, and probably the others I listed above)

Price does not necessarily indicate exclusivity. The Tommykaira ZZII was extremely rare to me (just found one in the UCD a few days ago), yet is very affordable.

Me too! I haven't seen the ZZII in the UCD for over 1,000 game days! Only the ZZ-S popped up the most! I was lucky that my friend traded the car for one of my Silver Chromes :sly:

Yup, keep the rare cars rare and make people actually WORK for them

+1

That's what I'm doing right now on the game -- grinding to reach 15 or 20 million, just to make sure if the Chaparral 2J/2D ever pops up on the UCD/OCD. If it's taking too long, then I have to spend it on those LMPs or LM/JGTC Race Cars or touring cars or collect an entire make (already did that for the Lancers).

i love the new update, keeps the rare cars rare... good job pd
People duping cars (such as the X1 and the 370z GT Academy Edition) didn't help keep these cars rare :grumpy:.
Had PD not allow the copy of game saves (as it did towards release time), this wouldn't be happening :grumpy:.

Thanks, Blitz. If that's the case, then it's probably these ones as well:

I was able to send the nsx-r prototype LM road car just now. Don't know if it makes a difference, but I bought it from the UCD. Somewhere around 400k I believe. I performed engine and chassis rebuilds and sent it off. Its definitely after the cutoff too, because it would no let me send off the R8 race car.

EDIT: It was 488,499 credits. pp567. 205km. Honda. LV 14 requirement.
