(Discontinued) FM3 LeMans Race Series 2011 - Signup, Info & Interest Thread

LeMans Race Series


This Race Series can be run two ways. You run the race at your leisure and submit your time by the deadline date TBD using the parameters that are given. If you choose to run the race with friends it is your option to arrange the time and place. You may decide to just run against the AI because of your RL schedule.

The replay is there is only if we need to confirm a fastest lap/race time for points to be awarded.
Races last two weeks starting April, 2011. Wednesday to Wednesday. Except for Preseason which will last from 4/7/2011 and end on 4/14/2011.
8 races total – 1 preseason & 7 season
2 Car Classes – R1 & S (see below)
Race Length – Approx. 96km/60miles

Do You:

A. Restart the race
B. Limp your way to the finish line.
C. Hit the pit for repairs.
D. Give up and not submit your time.

This is your chance. How far are you willing to push your car.
Full Simulation Damage.
Every little bump or contact will have an effect.
A competitive handicap system for the all driver levels. Noobs and average drivers wanted.
Races to be run online in private lobbies either against AI or with friends and AI to fill up the required 8 racers for the field.

Races run with Full Simulation Damage on.
No Cheating, illegal upgrades, etc. You must run the car specifications I give you
Try keeping at least 2 wheels on course. Long races = mistakes, but absolutely NO shortcuts. Intent is everything.
All decisions by series officials, namely me and one other person if they want to help are final.
You run the same car for the entire series. You may run in both classes. You are not required to run all races. Run one or all of them. It's your choice.

The race track for this series will be defined as the area between the white or yellow lines. This means rumble strips do not count as track.

S Class Upgrades Allowed


Only assists allowed are Suggested line/braking and TCS.
Tuning is allowed to existing “stock” settings a/o the start of the series. No add ons!! R1 class restrictor plates must not be removed.
AI difficulty set @ Hard
No HP penalty for joining after series starts up.

Handicap system will apply to next race competitor runs based on results of round 1,2,3,4,5 and 6. HP Handicap of -5% (may, TBD) will apply to top 3 finishers for next race only.
Time submitted via pm to me by race deadline. Replay posted on SF under save name I provide for verification if needed. No replay, no time.

Race sign up information needed. Car choice not needed until week 1. Try out as many cars as you like. Final car choices must be made before the start of round 1, car changes will not be allowed once the season has started.

I will update competitors every few days. Send me a pm to be sure.

Points
15/12/10/8/7/6/5/4/3/2 and 1 for all others
3pts for fastest clean lap.

* 1st in Series standings in each class after 4th round get to pick rd 5 & 6 tracks. Highest points 1st. If 1st place in both classes is same person. 2nd choice will be driver with next highest point total from either class.

S Class - 51-100


Note: I do not wish or want to spend my time viewing replays. They are there for verification purposes only. If you do not want to go to the trouble of saving a replay and uploading it to your SF with the file name required (5 min) for all to see, and running a mid-distance race with full damage on this is probably not the series for you. But if you like the idea of getting as close as we can get to a real life race situation (using AI). And throw in a cockpit view (which I plan on doing, but not required), then this might be for you.

I am entertaining the idea of allowing the restrictor plates for the R1 class to be removed. But as of yet I only have the Audi in my garage. Purchasing all the cars at this point is cost prohibitive. I would need feedback from others as to the stats on the cars after the plates are removed, ie, PI/speed/handling etc.

I knew this was a long shot because this is a GT website. But hoped that I might get half a dozen or so drivers. But maybe something wasn't right in my planning. I'm figuring that the simulation damage was the thing. I enjoy the challenge of a longer race with the possibility that at anytime a mistake could screw up the whole race. Have found a similar response over at a FM3 website. But have gotten some guys to run. Actually it evens the field. Bumper car strategy is out and carefully driving with consequences is in. The preseason race at Maple Valley was decided with only 15 seconds between the top 3 drivers. One guy chose not to pit and had to run the last 5 laps with big front end damage.

On a good note, I have been able to convert to MT. I use the right analog stick for the acc/brake and the LB/RB for the shifts. Setup #11. Hands are adjusting well. And times are better.

I would suggest Sebring for the final stage. That way it's run entirely on real world circuits. And I might join this. And I'll either use the Viper, the Diablo or the McLaren I'll have to do testing.

It's not super old. The last comment was made in march. I've commented in threads that haven't been commented in since 2007.

Yeah, but the word "discontinued" is in the title, and the last post was over three months ago. Just let it die....
