Wow, this thing has got to be one of the most tricky cars to drive in the game..
and being as im not 100% use to my dfgt wheel yet im having difficulty (yet massive fun) trying to get a clean lap of the ring in..
so heres the challange:
just try and set you best lap of the nurburgring in a bog standard ruf yellow bird..
NO MODS
STANDARD TYRES
then post your time, if you can do it!

and say if you used wheel or pad..

FIRST PERSON TO ADD ME ON PSN AND MSG ME GETS A FREE RUF YELLOWBIRD TO JOIN IN IF YOU DONT HAVE ONE
Rite, best try set a lap! have fun..

I was trying some cars round the ring earlier to gauge times for a online race I want to make- '87 RUF yellowbird 8:20.xxx sports softs, but I've done stage 3 weight reduction to it..

You don't want to swap do you? I want one without the weight reduction.. mine has some bits on it already though so it would be nice if you could add these to your spare standard one.. full transmission, full suspension, tyres: sports h, m & s. racing h, m & s.

Lemme know mate, I'll see how I get on doing a lap standard :)

I have to go work now.. but ill do that tomorrow for you...
i still didnt set a time.. so hard man.

Ah cool, I'll add you now bud in case I forget to check in here- just accept friend request when you want to swap and msg me to send my Ruf.

Yeh, its a epic video.. I still have not done 1 lap yet. Best i got was 3mins in and had a massive off.. I can do it with a pad easy, but im only going to use my wheel! Mite try get an ruf btr round first..

8:42.807 went on the grass once, but time didn't go red- gonna try a quick lap now and probably crash :D

edit: as predicted I keep crashing trying to chase a better time !! used dfgt wheel AT for that time btw

8:38 with completely stock car. Was a completely clean lap but I'm afraid to push the car because as soon as it starts to slide, you pay the price. VERY FUN though. This car and the f40 are a blast. I can put my stock rx8 around the track quicker but it's WAY easier to drive.

Going to have to give this a go! Problem being is I don't have a stock CTR. If anyone has a Stock yellow bird they want to dump on me, friend me with a message regarding this, I usually don't answer blind friend requests.

I'll give it back with engine and frame rebuild if you want it back.

If some have raced with me online you would know I've become quite handy with the Ruf's.

I ran an 8:03.194...but my lap was invalidated because I kinda hit a rail on one of the last turns, now I'm going to attempt a CLEAN lap and see what happens

7:38:451 min for the ring, but i pushed really hard. all standard, no tuning, only done engine overhall+oilchange. (360kw)
sport hard tyres (these are the standard for this car, right?)
can make a video with my mobile but only with poor quality.
this is definately the most fun car to drive in the whole game..
this + nordschleife is just outstanding good. my absolutely favourite car in real life and the game.

Ran 7:55 on a 100% stock Yellowbird using a G25. No driving aids except abs 1. I think I can do better than this, going to try and see later on

8:05.377 clean lap... But it feels more like a coffee drive and not like a hell ride... It´s really hard to drive fast with that car... One little mistake and you loose it...

Ok without traction control... I think it´s easier to drive when you turn it on but I don´t like it... Ah, Abs 1 and brake balance front 6 rear 4

EDIT: 7:58.270

This looks a fun challenge (that I will still come last in) but can we reach some agreement on the settings? They need to be the same for all, come on. Maybe a Yellowbird from the UCD with oil change, engine overhaul and restore rigidity at the most, everything else stock? The overhauls are expensive but mileage may vary. Post your horses if need be.

Uniform settings too, like TC off, ABS 1, everything else off? That's how I run most of my cars so is all i can suggest.

7'45.641 run in offline practice mode, all assists off except ABS 1. Bone stock Yellowbird on sport hard tires, just engine rebuild done.

That was my first attempt at it, but since PSN seems like it's going to be down for a while I think it's time to do some more Nordschliefe challenges offline to entertain myself.

Seems like a good set up to me :)

Come over to the Tuning section, we got a Thread dedicated to tuning a Driver friendly Yellow Bird pushing over 600ft/lb of Earth Shattering Torque.

It's called "Project Black Bird" we have a few different tuner who dropped settings and it's got a great set up in development. I've pulled a 7:10.XXX at Da 'Ring on a pre- release set up it's first lap around nice and clean. Sub 7 is in sight.

Come check it out, try some of the Tuners set ups and share your opinions on how to make the YB the best it can be.

Did a 7:58.192 on my second try. Love tapped the track on one spot and had a minor off roading part in another, but again both were very minor.
My RUF isn't stock, so I had to lower the power. Can someone tell me what the ingame RUF has for HP and Torque? I used the real life figure of 486HP. All assists off except ABS to 1. Used DS3.

I'll try the tune mentioned above.

My stock yellowbird with engine overhaul /oil change hast 360 kw, so 489,46 PS
or 482,77 hp.

Respect for doing that time with a DS3.
even with a wheel it is so hard to push this car.

Was not able to beat my own 7:38:451 min today.
oh and btw did that with g27, all set to off except abs=1.
They should definately make this car a premium !

On my first attempt I ran around 8:40 but ran off onto the grass a couple of times, so invalidated. I thought that was a bad time but re-reading this thread gives me some hope, I can definitely push harder! And that was with the DS3

It is an odd car though, you have to be so careful with it. I don't know of any other car where I felt I couldn't give it the beans at least at some point on the 'ring (except for the long "straight" but even then I was antsy)

What tires are you using to set those times?

I would like to suggest that any laps completed without having all assists off should not count. This porsche would not have had anti-lock brakes. I was able to do just over 8 minutes and that was with a pretty bad off during the high speed section before the karussel. I spun out and my time was negated. So I easily could have had a 7:50 at least.

Check out the thread, all details are there. It's not a Stock Power S Tires Project, but rather pushing the Bird to the limits while being controllable & retaining the character of the "Yellow Bird". I'm only posting here to let YB enthusiast know about the Project. Pop in if you want to check it out, no need to if your not into taking the Bird to where crap rubber won't go. Street cars on Street tires are for the streets. Only Race Tracks in GT5....
